MLB 2K7 PS3 Version Inferior to 360

In an article on IGN, the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming MLB 2K7 are briefly compared. Somewhat surprisingly it seems that there are some significant differences between the two...

Looks like they built this one on xbox360 again then ported it over to PS3, that's the advantage for 360 because it's easyer to develop for good job i'm not one bit interested in this game. bring on Sony's inhouse games and i can always pick this up for my 360 if i'm really desperate...

even if it is made on the 360 and ported to the PS3, start to get used to it then. Which still means multiplatform games (which are the large numbers of games over the lifecycle of the consoles) will be best on the 360.

Seen in the past (COD3, FNR3) seen in the future.

Anyone would be best of buying a 360 if one likes games. Even the exclusives are most and best on 360. SImple. If you like BluRay movies buy a PS3. Gaming is second on it.

But games nowadays are made on PC and then optimalized for PS3 or 360 or Wii. Not even ports. The PS3 just ain't a gaming machine. How many times have to be made clear to die hard Sony fanboys the PS3 just can't cope the next gen games???

What about the online part? 30 players on 360, 12 for PS3? That's not problem of a port, that's problem on a online bad service. What about missing the rumble in the game (see page one of the article!)

Looks like he plays on this non-existant 360 quite a bit, to me. Maybe you shouldn't catagorise people so quickly in future. And maybe you could tell me what "optimalized" means, because the dictionary sure as hell can't! And while you're busy looking into the future ("seen in the future") at what ports are going to be inferior on PS3, do you think you could give me the lottery numbers for next week?

As for the story, I think this is obviously bad news for Sony (and fanboys, don't you dare try to spin it as good news!) but it's definitely not the end of the world. Let's be honest they have shrugged off much larger problems than a slightly inferior port of one single game in the past. Like most Brits, I really couldn't care less about baseball games anyway.

NHL07 is garbage. NHL2K7 is real hockey...but then again, I doubt you have ever laced up a pair of hockey skates in your life so I don't expect you to know the difference between arcade style hockey to a sim. I've said it once and i'll say it again, if you want a true hockey experience get NHL2K7.

news for Sony but hey, I'm NOT going to make too much of this.....yes, alot of multiplatform games look better on 360, but honestly I don't think its a "significant" difference that takes away from the fun of the game.....for example: I was watching a friend recently show off FNR 3 on his PS3, and yeah I thought it looks better on my 360, but it wasn't like "wow" mine is so much better.....he thought it was great and loves the game....still I have to admit its ironic(and funny) that ALL the Sony claims of raw power, superior graphics, the cell, 1080p, etc. that 360 games simply look better....don't worry Sonyfanboys, I know you're going to tell me yeah BUT, dev's need more time to optimize/gain experience with PS3, and yes I do agree that the games will start to look more and more impressive on the PS3, BUT that goes for both consoles....well at any rate, like I said, as long as the games are interesting and fun this isn't a "significant" problem....at least I don't think so.

will be better on the Xbox 360 due to its familiar PC like architecture. The PS3 requires a completely different approach to game development. Hence the reason why developers have been angry as to why they have to learn something new when you could have made it more familiar. The only reason why games can be ported in the first place is due to the Cell's PPU. But I really doubt they have taken the time to fully use any of its SPU's. Especially when they are just trying to launch a game on several platforms at once.

....how many multiplatform games there are and will be? In fact, most games are multiplatform. It's plainly obvious that these multiplatform games will be developed for the 360 and then ported to the PS3. Let's, just for a second, buy into your fanboy logic, and it's not that the 360 is a better console, it's that the PS3 is receiving ports that explains why the 360 versions are better. Who cares? The point is that the 360 versions are better and will continue to be better, for whatever reason. Since most games are multiplatform, why buy a PS3?

So far, the 360 exclusives are putting the PS3 exclusives to shame. Additionally, the PS3 is losing many of its exclusives due to its lackluster start. So whats left for Sony fanboys? Well, the few exclusives that Sony may or may not keep, may or may not be better than 360 exclusives some time in the future......possibly. Wow, this is a far cry from what people thought the PS3 would be like a year ago. Oh yeah, and the PSN is still very inferior to LIVE. Maybe if Sony started charging for it, they could actually hire some software types to make it worthwhile. Just a thought.

Xbox 360: out first, larger installed base, easier to program/develop for. PS3: Out second, overpriced, and not selling. Gets ports from 360 for ALL multi-platform games, games which will look and play bette on 360 and have more features (especially online). Last gen: ports from PS2 to Xbox. it's be being developed on the ps3 and 360 at the same time - that doesn't necessarily make it a port... why don't you think the 360 version is a port and they're dev'ing it first on the ps3? (oh, yes, that's coz the ps3 is a nightmare to code for, i forgot).... besides, have any of you guys tried to port a game between two wildly different h/w architectures?... thought not. please go out and learn something about game development before you post messages about game development. (and yes, before you ask - I have developed games before).

Whether it's due to porting or the 360 just being a console better suited for gaming, the end result is the same. Multiplatform games are better on the 360.

Getting average scores from Gamerankings doesn't actually prove that I was "lying", as you so eloquently put it. The development team itself has stated in interviews that they were able to achieve more natural graphics because of the RSX GPU, and more AI functions for the crowd.

The PS3 version came out about a month after the 360 version, so if they spend a little more time on MLB it's quite possible that they'll get the same result with this title. 2K sports has separate teams for each sport though, so we'll see if the NBA team brings over some of their experience over to polish up the PS3 version.

What does the owner choose to display in his shop on the Pioneer Pro Plasmas and SNE Bravia SXRD2's? hmmm...the PS3 running NBA '07 in stunning 1080p on a 70" inch screen. People just stop and stare at the wonderful eye candy. He's either playing that or Blackhawk Down is running and looks and sounds kick ass! And guess what? He doesn't even sell the PS3. He's got it in there to show off the blu-ray player and superb picture quality compared to any other blu-ray player on the market. It looks great! Believe me. The place is called Bjorn's. He knows Spielberg, Lucas, (I mean really knows them)Hollywood and Washington Insiders and does installs for the Spurs, Mavericks, TEXANS, Stars, Cowboys and Rockets players. He might know a thing or two about picture quality. You can dog MLB 2k7 all you want -- I could care less. I'm not a 2k7 fan (not big on ports, except for Madden and it's getting worse each year on all platforms) anyway. Like I said -- if I WANT to buy a baseball game anyway it'll be SNE's "The Show". Besides I'm not sure how my Dodgers are gonna do anyway this year with Schmidt (the traitor) out there so I'm not all that hyped up about it anyway. Besides, one of the Cardinals should've been on the cover of this game and the SHOW (namely D. Eckstein) -- seeing that they waxed San Diego's, NYCE's, and Detroit's Asses last year. I bet half you guys on here don't even know what hitting for the cycle is much less what division your team is in (if you've got one). You're just pissin' in your pants 'cause youre so happy that a game for the PS3 has gotten a bad review so far vs. the 360. So you feel you need to put in your 2 cents worth to try and make a point. Point well taken. MLB the Show will be my game IF i decide to pick up the 'ol pasttime, and if not I'll still be draining threes with 24 on '07 and feeding your goalie puck-cakes evertime I hit the zone with John Madden from the mighty NJ Devils. All I have to say is GameRankings.com averages every single review of a game ever listed. If you don't have money like me to buy every game for every console and compare them head to head....GameRankings is the place to go.

Now from my personal comparissons...I am right on Par with all the reviews and head to head comparissons stated on many web sites. Every single game I have for the 360 looks and plays better than every sinlge ps3 version of the same game. Thats the Truth. Its not even close in most cases. I have come to realize that the ps3 most likely will never match the 360 in regards to graphics and game performance. Now, I know that won't sit well with a few sony fanatics...but it doesn't change the fact that I own all 3 next gen systems and every single game out for the 360 and the ps3. And the 360 is clearly better for games and its online offerings. But, I'm still hopefull for something great at some point for the ps3. But I'm super elated about my purchases my 360's. Its amazing even to me that a 400 dollar console outperforms a 600 dollar console.... Next gen is here...its now...its exciting...and its affordable.

knows that a lot of its games were over-hyped and got much higher scores than they deserved. Tell anyone who's played Perfect Dark Zero that the game got almost unanimous scores of 9.0 and they'd freak.

Either way, I don't buy Topgamers claims of "360 games look and perform better than PS3 titles", especially after seeing the new footage of Lair, Motorstorm, and F1 championship. Hell, Sony hasn't even shown us their really big titles for the year and we're already seeing a noticeable power gap.

Those E3 '05 specs were a lot more truthful than many people realize. Come on, we're only two months into the console's life cycle and we're already seeing a PS3 power advantage? I can't imagine what the gap will be like within a three-year period.

P.S. I loved Perfect Dark. The graphics are beautiful in HD and the gameplay is fun. Online is a blast as well. The average of 9.0's for that game are right on. And with it selling over a million copies...I know I'm not alone.

top gamer is right as far as ive seen, 360 games just look better. im not a computer person i dont know all the specs and crap from either. but i know what looks better and thats all i need. ps3 can have all the power in the world (which i dont believe either) but if the games dont look better then they just dont look better.
