I already pre ordered this game on my ps4. Can't wait

joab7772697d ago

Me either. It's one of my most anticipated games! It looks stunning, and with brutal combat and with deep progression and customization. Man i cant wait!!!!!!!

medman2697d ago

Ah, a fellow gamer who enjoys misery and suffering, much like myself!! I plan to die much in this game. I will enjoy it.

opinionated2697d ago

I hope it sells well. I already know it deserves it. They put it around for honor and horizon and I hope that doesn't affect it too bad.

joab7772697d ago (Edited 2697d ago )

Ya know! It will probably do alright with Souls fans at first. Then, as word spreads it will continue to grow! I would love to have this, Horizon or P5 release closer to Summer, but by then one of them will be cheaper. To be honest, I'll probably play these and wait on Mass Effect! That and my excitement is so great now, Nioh can't come fast enough!

And imagine if it does well and we get a sequel, and a Bloodborne sequel! Mind my jumping ahead, but I've been looking for anything to fill the Souls void in my life!

opinionated2697d ago

That's exactly why I want it to sell well. If there is no sequel because of low sales I would be devastated. But like you say, that's far ahead lol.

fenome2697d ago

I'm in 100%! A sequel to Bloodborne announced at E3 is my biggest wish right now!

Rimeskeem2697d ago

Imo, while it's not the greatest launch window. Nioh is very different than Horizon and For Honor. But if anything people will finish Horizon and then buy Nioh. I think it will be a game that sells for a long time.

joab7772693d ago

There are a ton of PS4's right now and a lot of Souls and BB fans so who knows!

VsAssassin2697d ago

Ugh, I am still torn which to buy between Nioh and Horizon: Zero Dawn this February. I was going to let Horizon slide until March, but the hype for it has become stronger for me in the past few weeks! Nioh, on the other hand, is a no-brainer as a purchase. Guys, help!

latinlegend812697d ago

Why not both? Nioh comes out Feb 9th and Horizon comes out Feb 28th. Thats what I'm gonna do.

joab7772697d ago

I probably won't be done with Nioh by then because I tend to over indulge rpgs. Like I am 129 hrs into FF15 and haven't started end game dungeons yet lol!

NapalmSanctuary2697d ago

I'm waiting for the price to come down on physical copies cause I'm broke (just had to pay for cats surgery). I was going to get quite a few games over the next few months. Was actually looking forward to Sony shutting me up about lack of releases and bad games in general, and now this... oh, the irony.

VsAssassin2697d ago

I only buy 1 game a month for thriftiness' sakes. Like this January, I am skipping Tales of Berseria for RE7. Waaah!

LordStig2697d ago

Nioh comes out on the 8th of Feb. Horizon comes out on the 1st of March. (for my country at least)

joab7772697d ago

Get both! Depending on what you are playing now and if you are like me, I wouldn't be able to wait while everyone is playing Nioh. Then Horizon will launch but if I haven't finished Nioh b/c I'm having too much fun, I won't care and I'll wait a few weeks and it may be $10 cheaper.

My issue is ME and Persona 5 in March and April!

slappy5082697d ago

Let the RPG festivities begin! (Starts in Jan for me with Tales of Beseria,)

medman2697d ago (Edited 2697d ago )

@VsAssasin
You might be in trouble....I know I am, because I also plan to pick up Nier:Automata and Mass Effect in March, plus Zelda, so I is doomed. My backlog is starting to look at me funny.......

VsAssassin2697d ago

I haven't gone into the ME series--got too scared looking at Shepard's blank stare, lol! Having said that, March is a breather for me, though Nier: Automata is enticing. I might do a cash-credit combo this month, or maybe not! :)

Chexs19902697d ago

I'm gonna get both, but if you only choose one of them first, go for your no-brainer title :)
By the time you finish that one, the hype will be either even higher, or spot on, for horizon. Depending on how much Intel you read about it :P

VsAssassin2697d ago

Thank you for your crystal-clearing response. Nioh in Feb, then Horizon in March. Horizon comes out late in Feb anyway. :)

So Koei Tecmo taking advantage of the Dark Souls craze, setting Dark Souls game play and dark, grim aesthetic in Sengoku Japan. Please don't be fooled by the "script from Akira Kurosawa." Dynasty Warriors was based on the novels "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," and we all know how well they told the story in those many many games. As for team ninja and story telling--Other M--need I say more?

Koei Tecmo have tried to emulate other styles of game in the past and have failed miserably to capture what made those titles engaging. Remember Quantum Theory--Japan's Gears of War? Can't blame you--nobody does.

I fear this may be falling in love with the potential of a concept--Dark Souls in Japan based on Shinto Lore, and I'll admit that does sound intriguing. However, I ask you look at the creators of the title and ask if they are even capable. History says no.

fenome2697d ago

Did you play the betas? Gameplay seemed pretty on point from where I was sitting regardless of who made it.

morganfell2697d ago (Edited 2697d ago )

History says no? Guess what? Actual hands on by me says yes.

Say what you want. I played the betas. Fantastic and I can't wait. And in case you aren't aware: Nioh Betas > nameless hater on internet.

Funny you do not realize how many of us played the beta and loved it. Simple proof you are not a PS4 owner and only fear games like Nioh.

sullynathan2697d ago (Edited 2697d ago )

The story will most likely be bad but the gameplay has been pretty good so far

This game is more like ninja Gaiden with dark souls mechanics

joab7772697d ago (Edited 2697d ago )

While I do remember Quantum Theory, I think this will be different. The betas were great. It looks stunning on the Pro and 4k, and it looks to have great animations, and deep progression and customization. Boss fights I have seen look epic, so... we will see! It took 10 yrs to make!

Also, it is Team Ninja and they worked in Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive! Don't think they had anything to do with Quantum Theory, but I could be wrong!

morganfell2697d ago (Edited 2697d ago )

@sullynathan,

I actually like the story since it is more involved than Souls games and they decided to borrow from history.

sullynathan2697d ago

borrowing from history and having a more focused story doesn't mean it will turn out good. Team Ninja has a bad track record for stories and video games in general have bad stories, mixed that together and you can see why I think this one will have a bad story too.

morganfell2696d ago

You said it would be bad. But it has more of a story than DS. And having played the beta and followed the development closely I think the story will be better than DS. I didn't say it would be a great story. No. But a bad story? I disagree with you on that one. Whether or not Team Ninja has a history of great stories is a matter of opinion. Also no Ninja Gaiden story has been just one story but rather multiple intersecting journeys.

Realms2697d ago

Did you even play the demo? If no you don't know what you are talking about the game is shaping up to be a jewel I don't know about the story but the gameplay was spot on.

Veneno2697d ago

Team Ninja made Quantum Theory?

KwietStorm_BLM2697d ago

You are trying WAY too hard lol...

This is the game that anyone who has a PS4 must try and get. Horizon: Zero Dawn may well be the big release of this quarter but I suspect that Nioh will be the sleeper hit right up there with Yakuza 0. Between these three, and Gravity Rush 2, I will barely have time to get through these games before Personae 5 hits. I am still playing all my games from the last quarter of 2016 and I haven't even started a couple. So many games and so little time - good problem to have for PS4 gamers.

Why Microsoft Putting Black Ops 6 On Game Pass Is The Ultimate Test

By putting Black Ops 6 on Game Pass, Microsoft plans to gauge its growth, pricing, and monetization changes, at the cost of less game sales.

If they have follow up games that are bangers, then this strategy will work. But if it’s Call of Duty followed another dead period then it won’t last.

crazyCoconuts16h ago

From MS financial perspective I think it may be the opposite.
A year of GamePass on PC is less than the price of two full price games. For all the people that would have bought COD for $70 but instead started subbing for GP, MS will get an extra $50/year which is good.
However, for each banger that MS puts out, that's lost potential revenue because the GP sub won't need to buy it.
So it only makes sense where the new GP customers would have otherwise not spent more money with MS... Which is the case if MS puts out low quality shovelware.

rlow114h ago

If you’re looking at the short term you are correct. But if Xbox can have multiple bangers then subscriptions should increase. Which is what they want, recurring revenue.

S2Killinit6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I think this is more about microtransactions. MS wants to see if the upfront losses will be offset by more people login into the “free” game and buying more microtransactions to justify not selling as much COD games.

I honestly not sure. I feel like everyone who likes COD is already playing/buying it so I’m not sure how much more engagement they can get by putting it on gamepass. On the other hand, I also feel a lot of COD players are casual gamers, and they are the type to click on anything that is “free” ex: mobile gaming style

Sonic188116h ago

I don't see it working if Call of Duty makes less money and profits over time from gamepass 🤔

blackblades15h ago

I dont understand why have it on it when we all know it sells with the name alone. Seems stupid to lose so much sales and $ just to have it on game pass. They basically shooting themselves in the foot with a already injured foot from all the other times they shoot themselves in the foot.

CrashMania14h ago

@blackblades, that's my exact point, even on xbox where most software sells poorly CoD still sells millions, but the thing is, if you don't put it on GP you kinda shatter the whole idea they've build GP up to be, they've dug this hole themselves.

I think it might tick up subscribers a bit, but warzone is already free and gets millions of players regardless of GP. But where will those extra subs come from? Xbox sales are dropping like a rock, PC gamers are very firmly rooted in Steam and will just buy it there.

Tacoboto14h ago

@black

If they don't include it on Game Pass, they lose the claim of First-Party Day-One on Game Pass, and thus would begin the slippery slope of what's-ok-to-not-include and the devaluing of the service, and further sinking Microsoft/Xbox's already tarnished reputation.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place and this move buys them time to work out more future-math.

crazyCoconuts13h ago

I still expect a price increase in GP to compensate but who knows. With all the factors in play like COD points there are too many variables for someone on the outside to predict what will happen. I assume they have a forecast model where this all looks peachy.

When the game does not hit 1 Billion in revenue in under two weeks they will wonder why and the next thing you know; Season Updates will no longer be free.

Noskypeno17h ago

Yup, the CEO needs a new yacht and private jet

Abear2115h ago

Yeah I expect paid DLC and season pass in your face, now you are buying for a game you are renting

neomahi1h ago

That's where they're relying on PC and PlayStation gamers to pick up the slack. They know their business model isn't lasting so in order to give it away "free" for Xbox, they're banking on PC and PS5 customers to make up for the sales loss on Xbox, otherwise they wouldn't be able to pull this off like they want to. Xbots don't see it but, it's their gaming brethren that'll keep their console manufacturer afloat a little longer because the service they hold so dear isn't viable anymore. So, it's by the good graces of their fellow gamers they live to fight another day.

Consumers don't understand how Xbox Game Pass really works. It's not about the volume, and maybe Xbox doesn't want them to know. It's not about how many games you play. Developers don't make money by how many people play their game, it's HOW LONG you play. How many hours to put in.

Customers like David Jaffe that only like to sample don't help the service succed. Jaffe is a cheapskate stoner who spends all his money on Diet Coke, Jolly Ranchers, and weed to fry his brains (it's medically proven, sorry to disappoint) but Jaffe wants as much as he can get for as little so, he's not much of an advocate. But he also plays games for a little while and then gives up, it's just his personality, maybe A.D.D. or something, but Game Pass is dependent on how long a gamer sinks hours in. Why do you think Phil Spencer wants Helldivers 2? Because gamers don't put it down. Hellblade II, they'll play the campaign and then be done. Games like that sink to the bottom of the pile, they disappear. Xbox LIKES Games as a Service business models because it sells their service, but that model doesn't work for Sony, Helldivers was a stroke a luck, lightning that won't hit twice because PS fans don't want that. But that's how Xbox keeps it's games at the top of the list and on their service. The longer you play a single game, that's how devs make money

purple10117h ago

subscribers go up, execs celebrate win, get bonus, price goes up, subscribers go down,

execs dont care, got their bonus,

MrDead16h ago

If it works CEOs and shareholders get a payday and if it doesn't even more studios get closed by MS so CEOs and shareholders get a payday.

Elda15h ago

It will sell on PC & PS but as long as COD is for rent on Gamepass it will not sell well on the XB platform. Most folks such as myself that like COD just for the campaign would rather rent it for that month instead of paying $70 plus tax for the game.

IAMRealHooman15h ago

Your smart.
its 70 for base plus 10 to 20 for a season pass plus another 30 for there better season pass,

darthv7215h ago

...now you are finally getting how to use GP. No commitments, just play what is offered. if you like it so much and want to keep a copy for yourself... you can buy it when you want to. I used to buy games based on if they looked appealing and have been burned many times on things. With this, I can try before I buy. And I have actually bought several games after having rented them in the service. It literally is like the old days of renting only you get the whole store instead of pay per rental.

Elda15h ago

I've been knowing how to use Gamepass. I sub the service yearly & I play games on the service that I don't have to pay the full price for such as Persona 3:Reload. I mostly play & pay for games on my PS5 but if a game lands on GP that I'm interested in playing & I don't have to buy a copy for the PS5 I'll definitely play it on Gamepass.

I just cannot believe we haven't had a game from them this generation nearly 4 years in.. crazy!

Knightofelemia2d ago

If the game is crap then yes there will always be negative feedback it comes with the territory. It's called word of mouth or welcome to the internet. Where the truth about a game comes out really fast whether the game is good or crap. If you can't handle the criticism because of a game then why publish the game. Why should people who never criticized or even played the game be punished? Vietnam has some really screwed up laws block Steam because they don't answer us rule. And going on a witch hunt with Steam please. Where's the proof, where's the evidence of this witch hunt. Somebody is butt hurt and has a Vietnamese Karen leading the witch hunt.
