Such an unconventional state of affairs. The game is still being completed while it's out

moegooner882667d ago (Edited 2667d ago )

So never buy a SE game on launch?

Bahamut2666d ago

It's not that bad. It just could've been better.

moegooner882666d ago

Yes it is pretty bad. Second part is all over the place, and game is obviously unfinished, but hey judging by the disagrees, why should SE care, when people are actually willing to pay full price knowing the game is incomplete. Maybe next time, they can release the first chapter, and patch the game over the upcoming 6 years.

Bahamut2665d ago

@moegooner88

You sound so whiny. Nobody forced you to buy the game.

moegooner882663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

You sound like you have more money than common sense. Aka SquareE target audience.

Bahamut2663d ago

@moegooner88

If you think $60 is a lot of money, you need to rethink your life. Go to college, get a better job, etc.

I think we will be seeing a "Driveclub" situation where future patches bring in additions that basically perfect the game.

Except this time it will happen to a game with a story.

-Foxtrot2666d ago

The best thing they can do now is quickly finish this off and focus on FFXVI

I want that game to be finished on release. I just can't believe people giving FFXV the benefit of the doubt, sure it's better then FF13 but still...it's unfinished and you can see this within the story after Chapter 8

Irishguy952666d ago

Its not giving it the benefit of the doubt, whatever FFXV's incompleteness was, it was still good. I totally agree its unfinished. Its annoying! Its upsetting due to what the game could have been. That doesn't make it a bad game.

"Flawed gem" - Remember that term?

-Foxtrot2666d ago

Dosen't make it a bad game but why suddenly give the benefit of the doubt

If it was EA, Ubisoft or whatever people would gladly call them out.

Imagine if you had the Last of Us and they slowly changed things or added the rest of the game in updates...it would be pretty shitty.

Irishguy952666d ago (Edited 2666d ago )

I get it Foxtrot, its annoying things that would have been NICE TO HAVE didn't make FFXV release. But, they could have added a cutscene to explain each of these missing things...and then forget about it. Instead they are making them playable.

I'd say the last of us is a perfect example of content that would have been nice to have but didn't make it. The AI? Anyone? The last of us turned out amazing anyway. So who cares?

3 choices:
Delay the game
Add minor cutscenes to explain things that are not important to main plot but would improve the quality of the game(ie: 3 side chars and villains)
Modify the game and purposely leave things out, then add the DLC for free later.

I would prefer a delay myself. However I am happy we didn't get a cutscene and just leave it at that. Instead we will get 3 DLCs with the guys playable and eventually multiplayer, more story content from things outside of Noctis perspective.(As this is what normally happens in FF)

Again I agree its **** they way the game is obviously missing content. But its not as bad as you're making it out to be imo, due to the fact that they modified the story due to the fact that the content wouldn't make the final cut. The quality of the game is what is affected, more so than value for money, or understanding what is going on. <- that is the sad thing. The game coulda been great and hopefully it will be great one day.

Elda2666d ago

At least FF-XIII had a story & a long one.

joethetimelord2666d ago (Edited 2666d ago )

I'd take a good unfinished story to a long bad one any day. The Silmarillion, an unfinished Tolkien work, was still miles better than Hubbard's very finished Mission Earth series, for example.

FinalFantasyFanatic2666d ago

If it's one thing I have to hand to the FF-XIII-verse, it generally improved in all aspects by the time we got all three games. Lightning Returns was a big improvement over the first game. Maybe they should have shorten and simplified the story in FFXV (there are so many confusing things happening with the characters because it's just thrown out there with no foreshadowing or it happens off screen).

FinalFantasyFanatic2666d ago

True, it's obviously lacking so much story content, but I just want a new Final Fantasy game now (god, please don't do any sequels or spin off of XV).

Godmars2902666d ago

Given that 13 and 15 where effectively unfinished works, that the original version of 14 was what it was, what makes you think square is going to stop releasing incomplete games trying to patch them later from now on? Any AAA main console titles anyway.

_-EDMIX-_2666d ago

But the issue becomes like I'm stressed for a very long time , exactly what is "finished?" You're never really going to actually fully know this because any game can be updated with content at any time post launch.

So basically delay playing any game for a specific number of years?

So if they have extra content Never released it so you feel you got something finished? How does that benefit the consumer if there's more ideas to be given to the game? So delay the game to Oblivion? What if ideas continue to be given to the game?

Software is not absolute, it is dynamic and ever-changing.

kaizokuspy2665d ago

I agree @ foxtrot, glad to see there are those who aren't blind to the huge issues with a $60 FF game.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled11d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog143d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake143d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic141d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan142d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman143d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator143d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno142d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior143d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake143d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
