Final Fantasy XV PS4 review - Square Enix’s Redemption? - TGG

Square Enix has finally released their much-anticipated JRPG "Final Fantasy XV", but is the game worthy of our time and money? Well, let´s find out shall we.

Definitely better than 13 anyway! Sequentially the last ff I enjoyed was 10 (haven't played the MMOs). I do wish we could have gotten the original vision for versus 13 but I'm happy with what we got all the same.

That´s what Jay (the reviewer) told me as well. So I´m going to give the game a go once I own a PS4, or when (if) the game drops for PC.

It's well worth the go if you're somewhat interested in it. I enjoy myself every time I jump on. I'm 21 hours in and only on chapter 3 because I'm just exploring the world and doing side quests. Up next is the dungeons :p

Agreed I'm just happy we got a final fantasy that is much closer to the old final fantasies in regards to being open world with towns and dungeons.

Even though I really like Final Fantasy 10 I didn't really care for the linear Final Fantasys.

Because none of us actually know what the original version of verses 13 actually even was it's very difficult to say , for all we know the majority of Final Fantasy 15 is what they were making verses 13 anyway.

Lots of Characters , gameplay , Concepts and features that I read about over the years when it was verses 13 is actually still intact in Final Fantasy 15.

It's not better than 13. And if you think it is I'd like to know in what ways it is better?

Characters? No.
Story? No.
Summons? No
Magic? No
Combat system? No.
Sound? Debateable. But I'd say 13s is better. Blinded by Light is a more memorable theme.
Locales? No.

No towns
No side quests
No upgradable weapons
No side characters or other NPCs to interact with
No airship
No vehicles
Linear as shit

That right there is why FF15 is better despite it's huge flaws...so in a way that's saying something

Yeah same because lets face it after Chapter 8 it takes a MASSIVE nose dive...like I mean rushed story, plot holes, missing character development, missing scenes from trailers (even the recent ones) I could go on.

It's a shame because the ending is so moving...yet the build up lacks a punch

Ah, I´m glad to hear it =) Is FFXV the kind of FF game that you could just jump in and enjoy even though it´s been years since the last time you played an FF title?

I tthink just jumping in might be a bit restricted this time around because of the CGI movie and anime that need to be watched to provide a more rounded story, though staying that I haven't watched them yet. It's certainly accessible controls wise.

Ah ha, I´m asking, because some game series are done in such a way that it´s a very bad idea to play the latest title before you´ve played the previous ones (like Max Payne, for example).

Oh well the stories of final fantasy are all separate (unless they share a similar title like final fantasy X and final fantasy X-2). You're good to go in that respect :)

Trust me with how square has been doing business lately they're most likely is going to be a PC version.

Square came these days with FF XV, World of FF, Dragon Quest Builders. All kind of got good reviews and seem nice for me, each maybe pleasing a kind of fan. They are not in a bad spot

I'm still waiting for S-E to redeem themselves. It hasn't happened yet and I doubt they ever will. FFXV might as well have just been called FFXIII-4 because it's the same mediocre FF games they've been putting out. FF13 was the last FF game I'll ever play until they go back to what made the FF games good.

It's the best Final Fantasy game to be released on an Xbox console.

It's their redemption regardless. The last games were crucified and this took 10 yrs to make. It just needed to be good, and ppl would overlook flaws. They build a great world with backstory and added media alread. Noc'tis is a good hero, combat is cool, even if you prefer FF13. What many don't realize is that any action combat can be turned into strategy if it's hard enough and you are given the right tools. Mass Effect is a great example. Played on normal it's absurd. Ya just shoot or do whatever. Jack difficulty up and it becomes a strategy combat game, squad based even. Dark Souls is Twitch for sure, but also has a lot of strategy built in. The same for TW3, except that it's lost quickly because it's wayyy too easy! Skyrim has no combat system lol!

FF15 is an open world game with plenty of gear, has a cool modern/classic hybrid. Just lacking in story and customization, which is really odd but getting fixed. Don't they know rpg fans want to change clothes a lot? And the story may be because they ripped parts out for dlc.But at least they had a story before doing it. Destiny wasn't finished, they reworked it anyway and then took parts out. Still a damn good game. Hopefully D2 gets full Bungie story. Gonna be epic actually . We will get it in pro and Scorpio. Can't wait!
