I feel I got the full game day one, rare these days.. but interesting thoughts.

indysurfn2704d ago

That is the opposite of what happened. They are just finishing the job. Usually you have fixes, but this game was so unfinished that the STORY is not finished means the game was NOT the full game.

Kingthrash3602703d ago (Edited 2703d ago )

In all honesty almost all DLC is finishing the job.. patches included, I remember when there was no such thing as a patch or DLC and we got the full game the day we bought it .

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2703d ago

To be honest I still don't know the story even after getting to chapter 14.
It's like the game just make you go to point A to point B to point C with no real sense of story driven moments like IV-X

indysurfn2703d ago (Edited 2699d ago )

Okay I can see someone disagreeing with me (well kinda) but how could you logically disagree with Kingtrash360? There was PHYSICALLY no way for there to be patches!!! So how could 33% of the 9 votes be disagree? IRRATIONALITY at it's worst!

Still irrational, his point was there WAS NO PATCHES, or DLC was possible! Not that there was no unfinished or games with bugs in them, physically. There is no way his statement could be wrong.

ginganinja2702d ago

Just because there was no way to install patches didn't mean games weren't released unfinished or with gamebreaking bugs in them. At least nowadays we may get to see, for example, the extra dungeons that Wind waker was going to have but were cut due to time constraints.

Pantz2703d ago

It's definitely a great game as is, but there are parts of the story they really didn't have enough time to put in. They basically continued from where they left off in development thanks to the nice sales numbers. A way to thank the fans and hopefully fix some of the criticism about the missing story elements.

Swiftfox2703d ago

Is it really a great game or is it the digital equivalent of a Big Mac? The game plays it very safe in terms of design. The combat is over simplified, the game is open world--arguably the flavor of modern triple A games this gen allowing the devs to create a world map and just pepper it with skinner traps to construct a reward system to keep feeding the player bite-sized dopamine, the supporting cast are shallow and add next to nothing in terms of gameplay and the world, and the story, as stated, is unfinished.

Even 10 years ago, make no mistake, if a game like this hit the market it would have been considered poor and incomplete. With the complete lack of story, you can't even call this a JRPG--a genre who's very foundation is character-driven narrative. It's just another open world game with "Final Fantasy" on the box. What people liked about this game are the same things they liked about every other open world game released this gen. It's familiar, it's formula, and it's safe.

Reibooi2703d ago (Edited 2703d ago )

@Swiftfox

I think it's a bit of column A and bit of column B. I kinda feel despite the combat being very simple that it wasen't safe. I would think something that would be more akin to a action game would have been safe cause folks are more likely to button mash in a that looks like action regardless of if it really controls that way. I loved my turn based games but I at the same time saw a appeal in a battle system that make fights look like Advent Children. SE wants this as well it seems but doesn't want to risk going full Devil May Cry or Bayonetta with it. So what we got was something in the middle of both. Pretty simple on the face of it but still looks cool when stuff goes well. I think it was a bit of a risk as pretty much everyone thought for a long time the game would basically play like a KH game but it didn't.

As far as the added content I feel when the game was getting close to launch they cut things that were not 100% needed but would have still been nice to add. I think these patches adding story content is likely adding that stuff back in. I am very happy this is gonna be free although I wonder why SE is making it free. One would assume past history they would make it a paid DLC or something. Not complaining at all. It's just interesting.

Aceman182703d ago

I myself have thoroughly enjoyed this game. Plenty of stuff for me to do in this game.

Viperoholic2703d ago

Yes I still have not beat the game yet, savioring it on chapter 5 level 68

FinalFantasyFanatic2703d ago

I'm only on chapter 5 and as much as I like the game, it's obviously missing bits and pieces. After being in development hell, it's not surprising the story is lacking.

Genuine-User2703d ago

Well at least they're finishing the job unlike Konami.

Derceto2703d ago

Glad someone else sees it. Was starting to think I was the only one.

Onenyte2703d ago

Dude, you ain't alone on that one I feel the same.

Calling this game complete is quite insulting when The Witcher 3 has soo much more content BEFORE the Expansions and probably produced in a shorter amount of time.

This game is severely undercooked and with the time its been in development, its a joke.

The rose tinted glasses are starting to come off.

I guess it just takes time.

McErono2703d ago

kingsglaive terrible? go home buddy...

Sharingan_no_Kakashi2703d ago

Kingsglaive was great. Easily 10 times better than Advent children.

Steveoreno12703d ago

I thought the action and fighting was alot better in AC. The story, pacing, editing, and directing was better in kingsglaive.

Gitgud2703d ago

@Steveoreno mad statements.

joethetimelord2703d ago

@Steveoreno1
I really enjoyed the action in Kingsglaive, but you are right that Advent Children was just better in that department.

AC was something of a digital martial arts movie, where the plot took a back seat to the absolutely stunning fight scenes.
Kingsglaive put its story in the forefront, and it did very well in that regard. That it happened compliment that story with good fight scenes made for a damned enjoyable movie.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled26d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog158d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake158d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic156d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan157d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman158d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator158d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno157d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior158d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake158d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
