Hope they let us take off the hats, curious what the carnival actually is and if it'll only be something worth playing a day or two.

UnSelf2704d ago

Hey Enix, can you first fix the goddamn camera before asking for more money? In one cave, my camera actually froze and locked in one position the entire time i was in the dungeon. its unbelievable

camel_toad2704d ago

I thought they said that changes to Chapter 13 would be their priority for the Holiday update, but there's nothing about it.

-Foxtrot2705d ago

This doesn't seem very free. Seems like stuff they cut so they could release it a few weeks after and claim it's free DLC as a sign of good will so gamers would respect them more.

CD Projekt Red got it right...and are the only ones who did it for us, not as a PR stunt.

Abriael2705d ago (Edited 2705d ago )

"Seems like stuff they cut so they could release it a few weeks after and claim it's free DLC"

You could say this of absolutely anything and everything that gets released after launch.

Of course, you'd have no evidence or event a hint in any of those cases, so it's a moot statement to make just for the sake of bashing a developer that already delivered a very meaty game without any reason besides trying to be negative.

LAWSON722704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

It is not that meaty, open world is empty, side quests are fetch quests with the occasional boss, dungeons are good but short, oh and the storytelling is like nonexistent. I am a mere 60 hrs in and have a couple dungeons and adamantoise left, maybe 5-10hrs if I take my time. I want to love the game, the world is gorgeous and the gameplay is quite original and unique, but both are lacking so much

SoulMikeY2704d ago

Lawson72, for real dog? You mad dashing through? I'm 85 hours in and only done 4 dungeons... I beat the story but there's still so many hunts and side quests left.

Muzikguy2704d ago

I understand the defense you're coming with, but whether it can be proven or not doesn't make the act of it happening less real

Nitrowolf22704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

Playing through the game it does feel like certain aspects are definitely DLC and were planned from the start. Like how gladious goes off on his own adventure mid-game, and off-screen events happening only to be told about them when that character arrives

Now I'm not saying they were cut because it could just simply mean that they couldn't finish it in time like a ton of Developers do nowadays.

And the game being meaty in terms of content is very arguable. A vast majority of the missions are the exact same just different locations and different enemies otherwise are all Fetch and retrieve for the most part. The world's pretty big but as besides visiting Food Shops and stores there's not really much to do inside those cities.

The game is good but it's far from perfect though it does look like a lot of these updates that are coming in or going to address a lot of the issues so it's still one of my favorite games

I'm also at the 60 hour mark and have nearly everything done including the Deep secret dungeons.

notachance2704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

@lawson72 dungeons are short? maybe the mandatory/armiger ones, but some end game dungeons are long af..

there's this goddamn pitioss dungeon that consists of only platforming and no enemies but by god it takes me 3,5 hours of jumping around to clear it, and there's also the infamous no-items-allowed dungeon...

but yeah aside from the dungeon there's really not many variation to the game. if only they make the sidequests have their own stories a la the witcher 3 it'll be an awesome game... like, maybe if you go to the edge of the world you find chocobo paradise or something, or a series of quests hunting down serial killer in Altissia or something

Harkins17212704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

Seems like stuff they couldn't finish in time. As usual you like to make crap up. Pathetic of you honestly.

Fishy Fingers2704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

Name calling aside yeah it's likely content that wasn't completed in time rather than complete and cut (which would make zero sense), Foxtrot just likes to complain.

It's free DLC, had they delayed the game to include it then no doubt he'd of complained about that too.

LAWSON722704d ago

Despite being free nothing will ever compare to actually unlocking the content by actually being in the game. I am in a minority though considering people swear by the F2P RNG model you see in games like Halo 5, CoD, EA Games, and Overwatch.

Ogygian2704d ago

Same with the Witcher 3 free content.

If you were willing to buy the game without it, then it is free DLC, because it is adding extra value to something you have bought without there being any legal necessity for its provision.

alstruck2704d ago

I think it is not a PR stunt, but more of stuffs they didn't finish on time.. so apparently delaying 2 months actually wasn't enough

DragonKnight2704d ago

I think you're being a bit too cynical Fox. Though with how FFXV is an unfinished game, it is more conceivable that this was planned content for the finished game, free is free. No reason to complain about spending $0.

Nitrowolf22704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

I'm confused the witcher 3 dLC was free but it was just a few cosmetics and a couple Quest released over expand of how many weeks again?

Don't get me wrong it's good that they did that but it's no different then Square Enix doing the same here.

What exactly doesn't seem very free here about it yet The Witcher 3 free DLC content felt more free?

joab7772704d ago

CDPR are the best devs out there. Though Pro support would be nice lol!

cash_longfellow2704d ago

It's actually exactly what CD Projekt Red did...what are you talking about? LoL!

EmperorDalek2703d ago

What? The Witcher 3's free DLC fits that description perfectly. Tiny missions, armor, outfits... The first of which released literally the day after launch, the rest on a weekly basis. Most of them would have been cut from the game, the later ones would have taken next to no time to make. Clearly just looking to gain blind respect on the prospect of free DLC.

Not that I'm complaining... I'd much rather that, than having to pay for them. But still.

LAWSON722704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

Game should of had fun accessories, costumes, and a story that actually had content that was not just the beginning and end when it launched. The side quests should have told you about this world but instead it only features mini games, fetch quests with no story, and repetitive hunts with the occasional unique foe. I want to love this game but I am finding it hard the only saving grace is the beatiful world and unique (despite flawed) gameplay.

The pacing is awful and the storytelling is practically nonexistent besides pretty cgi and the plot. A lot of work needs to be done with this DLC, costumes and small things are not going to make me want to come back.

ultimize2704d ago

What's wrong with you guys? Haters!
Commercial add-on was announced for long time but they add free dlc for everyone.
I didn't see any problems

Chaosdreams2704d ago (Edited 2704d ago )

More content = can't be mad about that.

I'm a tad curious however on the decision to only give Noctis a costume. That sort of, makes it weird? Sort of feels...incomplete. For instance, if one of the underlining themes is brotherhood, then shouldn't the costumes at least represent that? Each set having 1 for each character?

Only focusing on Noctis comes off as forgetful to that fact.

Anyways, hopefully the other dlc content (I know this one has a free and paid version) have much more substantial content. This one is cute, but for this game to actually thrive, it needs some serious story development (story, which can fit into those vacant 'three days later' sections).

NG+ is amazing, when there's a reason to NG+ it..

Welp, gotta make sure I buy the season pass anyways (I do, love the game after all). Since I want the Holiday pack that has a little more in it.

Cheers.

joethetimelord2704d ago

Yeah, this feels to me like something of an appetizer making way for the rest of the DLC. I'm still gonna wait and see before I grab that season pass, but I expected this holiday pack to be comparatively small.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled26d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog158d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake158d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic156d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan157d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman158d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator158d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno157d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior158d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake158d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
