Well... like the author i don't agree at all with the "A Final Fantasy for Fans and First-Timers" sentence. For First Timers there are more fun and easy JRPGs according to me, this XV has mechanics behind (sometimes frustrating ones) that aren't completely user-friendly, for a first timer... according to me, at least. And yes, i'd like to kill Prompto.
I can't talk about the plot yet, just started playing.
I share some of the guy's views, but not all, for now.

Very nice review one of the few were the author say just the raw truth & give his honest opinion about the game & point out everything that is wrong with the game without white knighting SE & the horrible job they did on the story, the characters, the side-quests, the combat were you only control one character & the rest party members are on auto-pilot & many many other stuff that make this game one of the worst FF games they ever made, & the funny thing is that people w8 to play this for 10 years... this game will forever remembered as one of the worst disappointments in video game history ever.

I used to care for this game but that was back when the title was Final Fantasy Versus XIII & Nomura was the director, when Tabata took over the project he fucked it up completely, Nomura had his own vision for this game & that vision was what I wanted to experience, Nomura's plan was to create a dark, Gothic story based on Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet alternate on a modern/fantasy environment were 2 lovers will end up facing each other (Noctis & Stella), now compare the vision of Nomura with that pile of shit Tabata create & tell me that you aren't disappointed with how this game end up in the end.

Last I wanna point 1 thing from this review, the first paragraph:

"Final Fantasy XV, out November 29th for PS4 and Xbox One, is so desperate to tell you it's for you – whoever you are – that it puts the message there every time it loads. "A Final Fantasy for Fans and First-Timers," it says, as if saying it was the same as it being true."

The fact they did something like this to throw at your face every time the game loads a line so absurd show how ridiculous & desperate this company have become, SE is a laughing stock for the past many years now & they are so desperate to prove they still have it that they think if they write it down & keep on throwing it to us that "we need" their games, "we must play" this new FF this will change how bad every FF was the past 15 years, the company is literally a shell of it's former shelf, they create one disappointing game after another, & all that start when they decide to change direction in order to appeal to a broader audience, & that's the result of this change of direction they decide to do, that's where all this lead the series, to this pathetic state of today.

My only wish is that Nomura won't end up ruining the remake of the most iconic FF ever because this will break the hearts of millions of fans that watched the E3 back in 2015 & jump from their seats when they realize that what was their most crazy dream few years back it's finally happening, & although most people won't give a shit because XV end up a disaster as it was expected after all those years of development & change of direction, this won't be the same if they end up ruining FFVII: Remake, in my eyes this will be their last chance to prove that for 1 time after all those years they can still do things right & give to the fans what they want to see, it's all on Nomura now.

Lost Odyssey had 7-8's across the board and people still raved over it. People need to stop basing their judgement on other's opinions. I personally use reviews as a gauge, if too many people gripe I worry otherwise 7&8's become subjective to each individual. For me it says it's a good game. In all honesty it's #15 in a series that started in the 80's would you want them to treat it like another CoD and wash, rinse & repeat the experience with each entry. People have to be open to change. It seems that people are knocking it most for trying something else...

I knew 15 was gonna be sh!t the first time I saw the combat it's not an ff game at all and it saying "for the fans" what a load of BS. I'm a full on ff fan my daughters name is Rinoa ffs and this game is not ff.

I'm very very concerned about ff7 remake 😔

Oh, don't be - they pretty much turned FF VII's image into that of an action game right after Advent Children came out, so I no longer even care - real FF VII is still acessible to me on my PSP through PS1 emulator, so these jokers can't do it any more harm - fuck this world entirely: it is methodically creating things for us to love and then makes us watch how it destroys it into dust.
No biggie for me, though, I am high, I no longer care. Because neither SE nor FF "fans" do. And I pay in the same currency I am payed to :)

That is all ? XD "You did not play it ?" I saw so much of it I can state easily that I pretty much did. I am at the point in my gaming experience I am able to fully imagine myself playing what others play on them YouTubes. And as for the Summons - All of them are to see on YouTube, so by me not playing the game the ammount of Summons won't increase in the slightest XDDD

That's about what I gathered after reading the comments on GAF from folks who played. Gameplay's ok and only occasionally wonky, narrative a mess.

at least it's over and we can (hopefully) look forward to XVI before too long.

...or a 9 remake. lol
