All the reviewers for gamespot work for gamespot, and im sure all reviews are approved by the editor. So we can say gamespot gave the game an 8. Which is a good score, it even says great on the review.

the reviewer put a much bigger emphasis on story and characters than I do but still gave it an 8 because the stuff I'm interested in was quite good.

It depends who you ask, for me the real meat of the games is the game play and optional content. I'm not alone, look at final Fantasy 12; weak story and characters but great game play and tons of optional content to discover.

Anyway, I'm not sure how people can disagree with what I'm looking for in a final fantasy game lol. Even final fantasy 7 was great because of all the stuff you could discover and the ultimate weapons, the story and characters being good was a big bonus but honestly you don't get 100+ hours of good game play out of just story.

@golby turn based combat isn't needed for a game to be final fantasy, but what they are doing to the final fantasy 7 remake makes it not final fantasy 7 anymore.

I am huge fan of FFX. I didn't like this battle system. This is not Metal Gear Solid Rising or like that. Too much action for a Final Fantasy game.

8/10 is an expected score for a series that has been on the verge of jumping the shark since Final Fantasy XIII. Dark Sniper believes if this game would have been released in it's original form of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, this game would have been an instant classic due to Square-Enix harnessing the power of the PlayStation.

The good news is that Final Fantasy VII Remake is right around the corner and Dark Sniper cannot wait to play it exclusively on his PlayStation®4 Home Entertainment Terminal.

Out of 10 review scores aren't always accurate in terms of displaying their true weight. I prefer out of 100%, no 10/10 game is perfect. If this game was ever to get worthy reviews and be regarded as a really good game, it'd be getting 85% > 92% range scores. 8/10 is easily within that range! But hey, we are seeing solid 9/10's too! We can relax, it's a great game!

this isnt even a review, its just bitching about one single aspect of the game and skimming over everything else. This review tells us barely anything about the game, compare it to the kotaku review (which is actually a review of the game).
