Halo: Child Killer?

You know what... I hate Halo, yet I'm still appalled that people will blame a video game from these actions.

1) It was the parents that let this child's Xbox be his babysitter (Rated M game)
2) They left a loaded weapon in the house (he took out the clip but forgot to empty the chamber)
3) They weren't aware that he skipped school.

The sum of these points means irresponsible parenting... This story is a tragedy, but there are lessons to be learned from it...

If your stupid enough to play with a real weapon at any age even though your 100% sure it's not loaded, then you should not play games or even watch movies which have weapons in them.

If every parent learned thier children that weapons are not toys, games are toys. Im sure this would not have happned.

Well I have nothing against the 2nd Amendment but please people,keep your gun in a locked device with away from the hands of kids.

As for the Halo thing,I like Halo 1 and such but seriously its not for kids.

Ummm... the original story never actually blamed Halo, they simply said after playing an action game called "halo" he tried to recreate something he saw in the game with the assault rifle.

They dont actually directly insinuate that Halo was to blame. Sure some unhinged individuals might try and use Halo as the scape goat but the majority of people will figure out that leaving your 11 year old child with a loaded rifle un supervised was the biggest mistake made by the parents, not allowing their boy to play an action computer game (even one that's M rated).

Still, I stick to my original stance, no gun, no death.

I played Halo 1 when i was like 11. I don't think i would of copyed it tho. I feel so bad for this kids family. Never leave a gun in the house where a child could reach it.

i'm 26 now, but when i was a kid, my parents never even bought me a plastic gun (too strict maybe) but i understood, nowadays i'm glad i live in a place where guns are illegal. and in some places kids have real guns at home and play with them. what are you expecting ?

We all know imaginary plastic slugs are the most deadly of ammunition. A top of the line plastic toy with imaginary plastic wadcutters can cut through police body armor like butter. God forbid the kids get their hands on them.

Plenty of places where guns are "legal" and this doesn't happen. Canada for instance has one of the lowest rates of gun related death in the world. If you want to blame gun laws, you might as well blame video games as well. These parents probably should be held accountable for leaving a loaded gun around for their kid to play with.

Edit: Everyone with a brain knows it's silly to blame the game for this. Millions of kids have played halo and so far, this has only happened in one isolated incident(as far as i know). The people blaming games should have the finger pointed at THEM, because they are either A)lying or B) stupid.

This tragedy should have never happened.

And that what they do they'll use an excuse except we're bad parents! How many lawsuits have been created because parent want to use any excuse except the real one to gain profit to a sad situation people blame rap/metal music, Wrestling, video games hell people want to blame Fast food restaurants for the reason they re fat I wish I was a judge and get to hear all these types of cases and to see some scum bag lawyer take a stupid case like this just to get his 15 mins of fame, laugh at them and tell them to get the hell out of my court. Personally the parent s should be arrested for having a loaded gun not locked and in a gun cabinet where the child has no access.

But, I do disagree with what you said.. How many people do you expect to keep the gun and ammunition separate? I mean.. most people have weapons in the house for protection, or safety reasons, and have em to use at any moment it's needed. If someone breaks into the house, you want the gun ready to use, not fiddle around trying to get the gun and ammo together to have it usable.

The only thing I say, is to make sure the safety is on and then lock it up..

If the kid did hunt, then it's not really the parents fault, totally. I know plenty of kids that have rifles cause they hunt, and it is THEIR gun, so the parent doesn't lock it up..

its sad a child died but blaming games aren't the right course of action I'm sure officials need a scapegoat in all of this especially law makers i bet their having a field day but the truth be told why blame the parents for all this when its easier just to blame games because your old almost prehistoric and never liked or understood them to begin with damn might as well blame movies and social activities on it too.oh and as far as gun safety ammo and fire arms should be separate more so if you have children in the house you always have to think of them first i understand the idea of being ready for action but what if that child finds your loaded weapon and accidentally shoots him/herself then your only left with regrets and a hole in your soul so huge you'd think god could not forgive you.
