The game needs it. Hopefully now it'll come with a neo mode.

AdonisIsBeast2812d ago

Couldn't they have just utilized the dev time and resources so that there would be no delay, instead of utilizing it for a shitty VR title

DragonDDark2812d ago

And then you guys will be mad because it's not stable in VR.

I swear... people won't be happy either way...

2812d ago
_-EDMIX-_2812d ago

How do you know the VR mode is being done by the exact same members that where working to finish FFXV? For all you know they are programmers that where likely already off the project once it was being prepped for release.

I say, if they feel it isn't ready, they are right to delay it.

Eonjay2812d ago

Right because a small VR title accounts for a 10 year + Dev cycle.

81BX2812d ago

@Dragon
You arw assuming we want to play it in VR.

nix2812d ago

This game.

I'm tired of waiting. :-S

cleft52812d ago

I like what he said and it actually makes me more interested in the final product. Before I had the feeling the game would be sort of bad, but now I am pleased with this development. If they are taking things this seriously than this really could be a game to remember. People will forgive a delay, they wont forgive a game that is riddle with technical issues. Look at the fallout over No Man's Sky. If they had delayed the game another month and fixed these problems people would be singing its praises all around.

AdonisIsBeast2812d ago

@EDMIX

Then you would be validating my point even more, as those resources you mentioned could have been used for polishing the game they just decided to delay again.

ULTp0ltergeist2812d ago

Or maybe the it's going to Deus Ex and seeing how Deus Ex is going to be bigger than it's surprising sequel they would use that success to improve FF.

mikeslemonade2812d ago

Not surprised. It felt too early to me even after almost 9 years. SE gonna delay the official release date.

NoctisPendragon2811d ago

They aren't making any VR title , FFXV VR experience is something experimental made by their R&D team .
It is the job of the R&D team to do things like that .

They said they would try to make a real VR experience once the game is shipped .

badz1492812d ago

the game was first made with the PS3 in mind over 10 years ago! so just cut it with "Neo mode" or whatever...it's beyond ridiculous now!

riverstars862812d ago

I don't know if you played the demo, but FFXV could definitely benefit from Neo Mode. I hope they push for 60FPS/1080P.

Darkwatchman2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

The game's public demo's aside from the e3 Titan demo have run poorly and the image quality has been pretty awful with sub-1080p resolutions as well as a post processing solution that blurs the image even more than the sub-1080 resolution.

The game is SCREAMING for PC, Scorpio, and neo versions

thejigisup2812d ago

its been several years, whats a few more months?

RedDevils2811d ago

@thejigisup how about a few more years, since you already wait for 10 years already so a few more wouldn't hurt right??

-Foxtrot2812d ago

If this is the case then they can easily allow us to switch characters in the main game...something they are doing as DLC

No excuses

_-EDMIX-_2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

The can, doesn't mean they will. That is like saying because someone worked on book and was also writing its sequel, that they should just add that to book 1 because they "can" lolz.

Oh they can.......

They can also do with what they please with content they legally own. Here is an "excuse" they legally own the Final Fantasy IP, not you, sooooooo I'd say they have more ground to stand on legally regarding what they can or can't do with their content vs Foxtrot of N4G lol.

That is like saying, your off work today Foxtrot, no "excuses" to why you can't let me use your car.

Sooooooo lets just ignore the major one like me not legally owning it?

The deep, deep lolz. Some of you guys seriously need to read your EULAs.

-Foxtrot2812d ago

Literally you have a wall of text and 75% is not relevant to the convo

Hey if you want to stick up for cut content, season passes and the like fair enough but don't shit in others for speaking out.

Filmicfps2812d ago

"Literally you have a wall of text and 75% is not relevant to the convo "

Lol I thought the same thing. u make a good point. 10 years in the making and all this dlc talk shit. why? no excuse like u say.

_-EDMIX-_2812d ago

I mean....thats not a bad delay. Only a few months. Lots of games to hold us over. Can't complain about them wanting to get more work done for a solid release. At the end of the day, I do want FFXV, but I clearly still want a working FFXV.

Kalebninja2812d ago

I'm okay with this, it sounds like it may be a reaction to no mans sky launch with the uproar over its game changing day one patch. But regardless if it is we'll be benefiting from the delay, a flawless day one copy and extra content, the amount of polishing they could get done in next few months will make a difference.

poppinslops2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

They've spent 10 years working on this game and you think a couple of months are gonna be the difference between the $#!tshow from E3 and a "flawless day 1 copy"? Dream on... as for any 'extra content', I expect it will come in the form of a day 1 patch - which is ironic, considering their 'excuse' for this delay.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - whoever's in charge at Square Enix needs to get their $#!t together... yes, they've made some great games, but their appalling business decisions (RotTR exclusivity, episodic FF7/Hitman, Deus Ex's 'augmented' pre-orders, overpriced season-passes, etc) are ruining their reputation - which will take a toll on their bank-balance.

I want this game to succeed - if only because of what it represents to the series' continuation, not to mention AAA Japanese game development in general - but I'll be waiting for reviews, which had better be spectacular, otherwise I'll be waiting for a price drop on the inevitable 'complete' edition.

AnnaDea2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

You're spreading lies.

i) Game has been in development since 2012. That is 4 years and not 10. FF XIII versus was in development hell for 6 years. Mostly because they didn't know how to fit the game for 3 different releases and still have an open world concept.

ii) Demos are made by external teams and are usually completed months in advanced by older versions of the game.

iii) Chapter 1 will be playable on Gamescon and we will get a 30min video of chapter 1 from the master version tomorrow.

Please chill.

poppinslops2812d ago

"Versus XIII was in development hell for 6 years, mostly because they didn't know how to fit the game into 3 different releases and still have it be open world".

This is exactly my point - Square Enix greenlit a title that had no realistic chance of ever being developed, let it fester for 6 years and still had the nerve to lock an 'externally developed' demo behind a paywall, 8 years after the game was announced... their entire corporate philosophy appears to rely on gauging their most devoted fans as a means of off-setting any potential losses, which - if their absurdly high sales-targets (10mil for FFXV!) are anything to go by - explains the overpriced season-pass, the VR mode (something they were undoubtedly 'encouraged' to implement), the movie and any other 'extra' content not included in the base game.

Showing Chapter 1 does nothing to reassure me - if any part of a game going to be polished and 'complete', it'll undoubtedly be the heavily-curated opening sequence... but the devil is in the details and Square Enix have gotten to a point where it's difficult to believe anything they say - hence my apprehension.

Nara_shikamaru2812d ago

you'll wait for the complete edition buuuuut you're upset over the delay? thats some backwards logic

poppinslops2812d ago

I'm not upset about the delay - the game obviously needs more work... what bothers me is that they scheduled a dedicated event whose main purpose was to announce FFXV's release date and they couldn't even do that right - worse still, they announce and detail a season-pass (content they're undoubtedly already working on) when they know the base game isn't up to snuff.

I'm excited for the game, but there's no way I'm falling for the 'ol "pre-order for the 'complete' experience" trick... if waiting for reviews, patches and price-drops is backwards, then I don't wanna be forwards!

GrontB2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

People really didn't want to agree with you but what you said is so accurate to how I have felt about the progress of this game. The big one for me was the extravagant "release date" reveal. I don't think you should plan a huge reveal event and party then run back to the studio and announce online that it will be delayed further.

I believe this game has the potential to be one of the most technically advanced games up to this point in time. I want it to succeed more than anything and get me rocking through yet another 100 hr Final Fantasy save file again like I did as a kid so many times. Wait for those reviews and keep watching those awesome FF XV World of Wonder trailers.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI2810d ago

Implying that somehow a demo from e3 with an older build would be indicative of a final build. Right...

_-EDMIX-_2812d ago

No.

I've read NO WHERE about them using this delay to add "extra content" the DLC they made was clearly to sell as it was budgeted to be sold, not added in the final game free of charge.

I have no clue what you mean about an "uproar" of No Man Sky's day 1 patch, so you are mad the team worked on the game even UNTIL its day of release to ensure pliability? Thats bad now? Sooooo you would want a developer to just leave ONCE the game is released and just abandon a game?

Before you jump on the "should have been done" bandwagon, you know of a game that has released PERFECT and needed ZERO post launch fix ups?

I know of none bud. I'd rather have someone fixing the issues all the time, vs a developer that is arrogant enough to think they made a perfect game.

GTAV
TF2
Counter Strike GO etc all get patches and fixes all the time.

Sooooooooo we should be mad they are FIXING their issues?

Witcher 3......soooo we should be mad that the team is addressing issues?

The reality is, Square wants to release a better game in November and more power to them, I respect that, but we will still see it get patches to fix up issues considering games don't release PERFECT, no software does.

Software is dynamic, its not absolute.

Kalebninja2812d ago

He said it himself in the video you bafoon @ 4:26 and I never said he was going to give the DLC for free. And there was definitely an uproar over the day one patch for No Man's Sky about how it fundamentally changed the game and how the disc was an incomplete version because of that big change, but guess what again I never said I myself was upset so how about you don't go ahead and assume what I mean and shitpost.

KingKelloggTheWH2812d ago

I am usually good with delays...But after that big ol Date announcement...Well this just makes them look dumb. Maybe they can add the character play ability from the DLC into the game now.

Kalebninja2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

It was removed for a reason, I don't think with the current fighting system switching is possible when it was developed around Noctis and having the party as support and frankly I don't understand why anyone wants character switching when noctis can use all the weapons in the party switching doesn't add anything to the combat. The only reason you can play as them in each of their dlc episodes is because theyre the main focus there.

Eiyuuou2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

Why? Aesthetics and principle I guess?

If you like one character more than the others, you want to play as them.

Also in certain situations, switching characters is a good strategic option. In this case for healing, rezzing, ...

And, except for in FFXIII, you could switch party members on the fly. It has always been like that.

-Foxtrot2812d ago

It was removed for a reason? Yeah so they could add it as DLC

It can be done, it's obviously there

2812d ago
_-EDMIX-_2812d ago

No.

What would make them look dumb is releasing a game with issues.

I'm all for them fixing what they feel is wrong, mind you, I have the game pre-ordered and all and I'm still fine with a delay.

No. They are likely not adding that DLC, that DLC was made to be sold as an extra, I don't see that changing.

PaleMoonDeath2812d ago

Whack, but understandable. 9 years is a long time, what's a few extra months?

GOODKylePS2812d ago

Understandable but still disappointing.

PaleMoonDeath2812d ago

Very.. I'm low key raging at the moment :P

DarkZane2812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

Because the wait was this long already, we should get the game already.

Dark_Knightmare22812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

That's entitlement talking we aren't entitled to anything no matter how long it's been in development. I would bet any money if they would just give you the game already like you so clearly want them to do you would be the first comment on the article complaining about all the bugs, glitches etc and how they should have delayed the game so they could have fixed them among numerous other things. So it's lose lose for square but I'm more than fine with them taking their time to polish some more if it needs it especially since it's only a two month delay and there's plenty of games to play in that time.

Summons752812d ago

I'm disappointed but it's not the end of the world.

_-EDMIX-_2812d ago

Agreed. Lots of games coming out between now and then.

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog142d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake142d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman143d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator142d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno142d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior142d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake142d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
