New Sonic Game Finally Announced by Sega: Sonic Mania for PS4, Xbox One And PC

During a livestream dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Sonic franchise, Sega finally announced the much rumored and teased next game of the series.

This feels like a bad joke. People wanted a big budget Sonic game that finally nailed his gameplay in 3D. Instead SEGA is remixing a bunch of old Sonic Genesis levels and trying to pass it off as a brand new game.

Seems like i will be playing Sonic Generations a while longer. I think that game 85% nailed it. I would totally lose myself if Sonic 3 was remade with it's graphics or better.

1) They already did nail Sonic in 3d, it's called Sonic colors.

2) No, no I did not. I want 2d Sonic. Every 3d Sonic game except colors is passable at best and a dumpster fire at worst and fundamentally misses the point of Sonic games. Sonic isn't about going fast, Sonic is about managing momentum. It's basically a hedgehog flavored marble madness, but with enemies.

I do not play Sonic to play a glorified AAA endless runner, and I definitely don't play sonic to play whatever genre you want to call the abortion that is Sonic Boom.

Uh, no it wasnt. Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast was great! I also enjoyed Sonic Colors on WII U quite a bit. 3D isnt inherently why Sonic went downhill. It was a lot of terrible game design.

Hopefully Sega considers bringing back some other classic franchises. Would be awesome if they'd make a deal with Bomber Games and bring Streets of Rage Remake to consoles.

They have let down numerous times agreed but this looks like a good one again bit like the rush games on DS and clearly of course the tremendous trilogy 1-3 (and even knuckles) I was actually hoping for a generations 2 to be honest as really enjoyed the 2d sections and the 3D ones were bearable... Just haha however this new one does look pretty cool, hopefully they bang in some of the old games as bonus unlockables and make it a massive Sega and Sonic celebration. Maybe sonic 1-3 knuckles, 3D, Sonic R and few game gear games maybe? Doubtful as these days sold on various stores but would be sick to have a new game like they seem to be doing but then also have all the classics games in there as well with maybe extra worlds that were originally cut? Few bonus levels here and there would be amazing.

Let's be honest here: Sonic was never a good game.

It's a game based on technical prowess (BLAST PROCESSING) instead of fun gameplay. It was the Crysis of its time. Going fast isn't a fun gameplay mechanic

Having played Sonic on the megadrive (European fella over here now living in the US), this brings back so many good memories and hopes that we will all finally experience Sonic as it was, not necessarily going the fastest through zones, but keeping momentum and finding nooks and cranny. Sonic 4 didn't have the physics of the originals. This looks a lot more like Sonic 1 - 3. And I'm currently replaying S3&K on X1 so this news makes me very happy
