Xbox Backwards Compatibility Officially Supports Multi-Disc

Xbox Backwards Compatibility officially supports multi-disc games after reaching out to Xbox about the recent release for one of their titles. Included is a statement from Xbox about multi-disc support and what it could potentially mean for Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.

Regardless of how people stated that game performed in regards to sales I always believed that game sold a very very great amount for being on such a platform selling and near a million is still an amazing feat if you factor that only one PlayStation 3 JRPG actually did that that wasn't named Final Fantasy.

I think Microsoft should reconsider their partnership with mistwalker and should just lower their marketing in budget a bit and kind of be a bit more realistic on what they expect as a return because I personally believe selling a million copies of a jrpg is actually still pretty good considering.

I actually feel the exact same way about Dead Space 4, if Electronic Arts is going to make the game they might as well set their expectations a little lower as opposed to trying to turn it into this big Blockbuster Call of Duty so I can respect that is a or title and just let it be and budget accordingly I think smaller titles like Lost Odyssey and blue dragon and even Dead Space could still seek respectable returns and still exists games like Soma exist so I'm not sure why people feel the need to dump all this money in these IPs as if they're going to turn into Magic.

Many great ips existed long term that have always sort of sold around that 1 million to 2 million Mark and still survived. I think that Microsoft could have that sort of arrangement with mistwalker if they kind of have their expectations a little more grounded.

This all-or-nothing mentality is basically what is getting lots of publishers gun shy I think they just need to seek more realistic returns out of some ips as opposed to seeking to go straight Call of Duty or bust.

Didn't mean to go so semi off topic I just think with the right business strategy you could still see sequels to Blue Dragon in Lost Odyssey if not a completely brand new franchise by that team.

Backward compatibility on XB1 is amazing. Now, Mass Effect 2/3, Lost Odessey, Blue Dragon and more will be made available on XB1 soon. Great work Team Xbox. Glad this feature keep improving and Phil continue to hold true to his words. Amazing and best console feature. Playing previous games that one owns without extra charge is what I call "For the players". I made the right choice of getting most of my last gen games on Xbox platform.

So where is the source for the official statement? I mean I know Deus Ex is multi-disc, but I don't know how it works. Either way a real source would be nice.

MS: "Yes, 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut' was the first multi-disc Backward Compatible title added to the program. We know fans were asking for this feature and our engineers worked hard developing a solution to enable it so we could further expand the titles included in Xbox One Backward Compatibility. We're continuing to listen to our fans on Xbox Feedback and work with our publishing partners to grow out library of Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles and will work to include more multi-disc games."

I read the article, but I was asking for where this information was obtained. The article said they received a response in what form? Email? From whom?

Right now, anyone could have written that and Deus Ex is a multi-disc game, so multi-disc BC is obviously possible. So they aren't confirming anything new.

I received this quote from my Xbox CA rep, was given "a Microsoft Spokesperson" as the name I was able to put and placed the quote from them. I reached out to them about the multi-disk as I was curious if they had actually gotten that aspect of BC running, that was their response. Also, replying here as oddly your response doesn't have a reply button.

Just a tip from a reader is that I get wary about information from a somewhat unknown site if they don't list where they get information from. Being specific and upfront about it, creates a trust. In your case it wasn't clear, and if say you got the information from less reputable sources say Xbox support or God forbid twitter Xbox support....

In regards to the lack of reply button, I think the new n4g limits the ability to nest replies. It's not a very good commenting system, but it is what it is.

I never really thought of that I actually always assumed that multi disc games work on Xbox one just like they did on 360 well I guess that's good news for old-school last-gen fans.

I'm actually thinking about replaying Mass Effect 2 on PC. ( I know my backlog of a new games is really high but there's lots of Classics I want to revisit I can't blame anyone).

Should definitely come in handy to those who want to prepare for games like Mirror's Edge Mass Effect and Deus Ex by playing the previous titles on Xbox One

Here I was thinking that there was some actually games I can play on BC list for Xbone.
Man I hate this program. Just release it all. Cut deals and get on with it. We'll be two gens from now before I play Lollipop Chainsaw, Remember Me, Never Dead, Spaltterhouse...etc.
