Microsoft Reportedly Getting Close To Backward Compatibility Solution For Multi-Disc Games

When Microsoft announced its Xbox One December backward compatibility update, a few titles stood out. One of those was the source of some confusion though, thanks to it having been released in two different versions.

Dude, waiting SOOO patiently for lost odyssey and blue dragon. Those are two of my favorite games in memory, love a really well done turn based RPG.

Great news. MASS effect trilogy BC included in Mass Effect 4 will be awesome for XB1 gamers.

Also looking forward to Lost Odyssey and other multidisc titles.

I'm just sitting here waiting for Castlevania LoS to become BC. I noticed that no Xbox 360 game that comes on multiple discs is on the Xbox live marketplace.

Next item that needs solving is getting Xbox games on Xbox one BC list .

I think that OG Xbox backwards compatibility might be easier to do than 360 emulation. It wouldn't surprise me if they manage to achieve native backwards compatibility with OG Xbox.

What would be so hard about this? Isn't the actual game downloaded and the disc is just used to confirm ownership? In that case they can just make the primary disc the required one.

yea i was thinking that, seems like it should be a piece of cake considering what they already got working. Which is pretty impressive in the first place

Maybe the part of the code that checks for the disc swap is just complicated or perhaps works differently for each game. Who knows, Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect 2 & 3 would be great though. Or maybe Bioware/EA have plans for a Mass Effect HD Trilogy (including the damn DLCs this time) for PS4 and XB1.

Yeah but the point is that it just downloads a modified version anyways. There would be no need for a disc swap in a downloaded version.

I think the last list let almost anybody down with just 16 Games.
The Issue with getting those games over to the One is that you can't buy them on the X1. IF Microsoft adds a 360 Store, most publisher would jump on it right away

You can access the Xbox 360 games on the website on your phone or x1's internet explorer. I found it faster to just use your phone.

Yes I do the same. I meant if they put the games on sale on the X1 they will make more money and will give more games to the BC Programm

When doing this on a Modded Xbox you have to put the folders in the right places to make it work. I had a hard time with L.A. Noire. Finally I figured it out after tons of copy and pasting and trial and error. I'm sure they are trying to get a way for it to automatically download in the correct paths so it will work.

I may be mistaken about this, but there is a GoD version of L.A. Noire on the marketplace. At least, it's available to buy digitally from Xbox.com. If so, it's cool cos it's only $7.49, and the season pass is I believe $2.49, so you can get all of the game for 10 bucks. Not bad, I'd say. Unfortunately I don't have my 360, so I can't check on the console store, but it's there on the web store. Good luck.

Yep, Commander Shepard needs to make a return even if EA won't give us the remaster many of us has been asking for the last year and a half! BC will still be cool....
