Why I’m Still Not Playing Tom Clancy's The Division

Alex from GamersFTW writes:

“By now, we’ve probably all played that latest third-person shooter, Tom Clancy's The Division. The new kid on the block, who’s supposedly kicking ass and taking names; still sitting comfortably at the top of gaming chart for the UK, despite a mixed reception from critics and gamers alike.”

Game is still phenomenal, sorry you're too jaded to see it.

Deadpooled2986d ago

I'm sorry Ubisoft have a terrible track record with game releases. I can't trust any release from them apart from the Rayman series.

c00lvilKid692986d ago

Got to agree with Deadpooled on this, not quite sure a game like The Division should be considered phenomenal. It's certainly not the impression I get from people who actually enjoy playing the game.

Utalkin2me2986d ago

@Deadpooled

Track record of what? Cause the last 3 games i purchased from them have been very solid releases. Btw do you own a Xbox1?

C-H-E-F2986d ago

Ehh sounds like your lost and the lost of others opting out, this game was solid. I didn't get it midnight release so I didn't encounter the initial server connection issues. I picked it up after work and I have yet to encounter any issues

nowitzki20042986d ago (Edited 2986d ago )

I dont hate it or Ubisoft but its far from phenomenal. Its good, but I shoot the same people over and over again some just need more bullets. Its repetitive and I cant play more than 1 mission and sometimes cant even finish a mission before im bored.

Tdmd2986d ago (Edited 2986d ago )

Agreed, @thekhurg. I just can't get enough of it (and I've been playing since launch), its as addicting as Diablo and that's a very good thing in my book. I don't understand all this hate - it surely seems like a bunch of people are hating without having ever played it.

SeanScythe2986d ago

@nowitzki2004 " but I shoot the same people over and over again some just need more bullets. Its repetitive and I cant play more than 1 mission and sometimes cant even finish a mission before im bored. "

Isn't that every single Shooter game to date? Name one game where you haven't shot the same person/creature/thing a hundred times over. I can't think of a single one that has a new character to kill every time you shoot someone. Sure they have different ones but they are all reused at some point. From Doom(Old) to Doom(New) there will always be reused villains to kill.

nowitzki20042986d ago

@sean

I can name more than 1 but if all I have to name is 1 then Fallout 4.

Some games dont have many but do have more than just street thugs with hoodies, or street thugs with armor.

thekhurg2986d ago

@nowitzki

lol Fallout 4...

LMAO

They had 1 bad year and everyone loses their mind... The past few games they've released have been solid games. Siege, Division, Primal, Syndicate and Trackmania. They are one of the only Publishers to be making making New IP's as well yet people keep piling on the hate because AC Unity was a broken game...

nowitzki20042986d ago

Ubisoft is great. People only remember the bad moments. Theres so many great games released by Ubisoft every year.

Silly Mammo2986d ago (Edited 2986d ago )

I've played FC4,Syndicate, Primal and The Division in the last 6-7 months. I've throughly enjoyed them all.

The haters can keep hating. I'm just here to play games.

Kane222986d ago

that one bad year was awful don't you think. they even acknowledged that unity should've been delayed and they still released it broken to all hell...after that crap, i make sure to see what others think before i buy any ubisoft game. you and others can go right ahead and excuse their "one bad year"....

nowitzki20042986d ago (Edited 2986d ago )

@ Kane

They had some great games that year. South Park Stick of Truth, and child of light were 2 of the best games I played that year. Far Cry 4 was great as well and I really enjoyed Trials Fusion. Watch Dogs might have had a "downgrade" but was still a good game.

InFAMOUS12985d ago

I was with you 100%. When it comes to ubisoft and online, I refused to pay 2 bucks for a game. When I first saw The Division I was terrified, because I wanted it and it belonged to Ubisoft. I followed the game, waited for the downgrades, read and watched as much as I could about it. Then I read the smaller details. How ubisoft created an entire new online department for this game. A complete strip of existing and a modern take on multiplayer development and deployment. I kept watching, looking for the finer details. Then the beta hit, I didn't play it. I held off, knowing I would be disappointed, knowing ubisoft would screw it all up again. Fast forward a couple of weeks, it's 2 days before launch and I can stop myself, I get out my credit card and pre-order off the PS store, ugh, a digital copy of all things, no refunds, no resale value.. What was I thinking? Launch day hits, I play.. I keep playing. I realize I have just sunk 4 hours into a game I wanted to hate, then more hours and days and now im lvl 30 and DZ rank 45, got good HE gear and weapons etc... Then I realized I wasn't playing a ubisoft game, I was playing a Massive game, a crown jewel in a sea of crap. I keep playing, discovering new things, new ways, new people, new everything. Best purchase of 2016 so far and now I have that game to grind till UC4 and holiday titles..

Starcommand2986d ago

i hated destiny so i only played the beta but i am surprised at how much fun and enjoyment im getting out of the division.

i haven't hit the level 30 cap yet and i still have actual story missions to play so it doesn't feel like a grind. me and two guys are just slowly chipping away at it but in saying that i can imagine once that is done really the only thing left is the dark zone which doesn't really appeal to me

it is a good game for what it is but i feel like quantum break is out at the right time so i can forget about the division once i finish the last few missions

surprisingly this isn't that bad from Ubisoft as i have almost boycotted every game they have released so maybe they are trying to get things together and actually put out good games ? Probably not

SeanScythe2986d ago

Destiny is a lot more fun with the recent King update. I hated the demo and beta and refused to buy the game. I bought the game after the last DLC was released and loved it for a few months. After the division was released I changed over.

Neonridr2986d ago

Division is fine. Once we get some new content it will expand on the game. The only issue is the number of exploits and bugs that are hindering the game at this point.

brokenbracket2986d ago

Couldn't have said it better myself.

The copious amount of bugs and hackers running rampant in the DZ would be my only complaints. I haven't experienced graphical issues, connection issues or anything of the sort. Since their latest changes to the DZ, I find the entire game to be quite enjoyable. If it weren't for the bugs and exploits, I'd give it a solid 10/10.

Kane222986d ago

hackers...maybe on the pc side. but on consoles its just exploits. that will be fixed. but, i would love for them to somewhat up the HE drop rates a bit. grinding the darkzone and challenges to almost comes away empty handed after several hours of playtime isn't what i call fun...

nowitzki20042986d ago

I hope the DLC adds enemy variety. Am I the only one sick of shooting the same people?

Neonridr2986d ago

yeah, well you would have to assume if the DLC expands on the map then there "should" be a new type of enemy to face from that area.

of course that is the logical assumption and we all know how devs like to think logically sometimes.. :\

SeanScythe2986d ago

Name one other Shooter that gives you a constant variety of different enemies.

c00lvilKid692986d ago

Hackers, bugs, exploits, grinding in the darkzone with very little reward, limited enemy diversity, the list seems to go on. To be honest, it sounds like I made the right decision not to get involved with this one…

brokenbracket2985d ago

Those are all temporary issues however. It's fairly clear to most that their year one plan is very solid. Especially based on the information we received today about Incursions, daily activities, new weapons and gear, and more.

Bugs, exploits and hackers are to be expected with almost any new title. Most of which are resolved within a few months of the game being out. If anything, I'd at least recommend checking it out later this year, around Christmas time. Should be a much smoother experience then.

sadsatan2986d ago

might pick it up when it hits £10

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) Best Settings for Low End PC: RTX 3060/RX 6600/RTX 4060 Laptop GPU

Grand Theft Auto V was released over 9 years ago, but the player base is largely intact due to regular updates to the Online Multiplayer. The game had some technical issues at launch, most notably a CPU utilization issue, but most recent chips shouldn’t have any issues running it.

i think the only real loss is GTAV

OtterX11d ago

I think everyone and their sister owns the game by now. They likely want to squeeze the rest of the holdouts before GTAVI releases.

Profchaos10d ago

That game comes and goes from subscriptions so frequently I think it's expected now. Like rdr2 on gamepass Rockstar Games only last a max of 3 months On a service

MrBaskerville10d ago

Talos Principle is the real loss.

BanginTunes10d ago

Facts that game is good as fuck I'm playing through 2 now, very underrated

Huey_My_D_Long11d ago

indivisible was pretty neat. Cute artstyle, fun throwback to older RPGs, shame its leaving but it is on sale often

shinoff218311d ago

Definitely. I e joyed what I played of it. Still gotta grab the physical at some point

Petebloodyonion11d ago

I'm not surprised by GTA V removal, Rockstar never allows this game to stay long on a subscription service.
They usually allow 4 to 6 months.

lodossrage11d ago

Yeah, they do that routinely with both GTA and Red Dead.

But it's because they know they can still sell them so they take them off and on to these sub services in cycle.

The weird thing to me is why is anyone still buying those games at this point? You would think after 3 generations of being sold GTA 5 that everyone and their momma would have it by now

RNTody11d ago

I fail to see how the loss of an almost 11 year old game that released across 3 generations is in any way a problem.
