Final Fantasy 15's New Demo Feels Like Kingdom Hearts | IGN

Marty and Andrew play through the Platinum Demo, and holy moly is it adorable.

Hoffmann2963d ago

But if Final Fantasy 15 feels like Kingdom Hearts...how will Kingdom Hearts 3 feel?

Hoffmann2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

......

JEEEEEEEEEEZUSSS!

ZaWarudo2963d ago

Exactly was i was thinking, especially the big room part. Not a bad thing.

ninsigma2963d ago

Was looking at the video against the iron giant. Felt majorly like kh. And you're right, not a bad thing. Kh has great combat and ff15 has taken that and modified it for itself. Should make for a fun game.

Playable_Gamez2963d ago

That's a good thing. Kingdom Hearts has some of the best real-time combat out there.

KentBenMei2963d ago

That's a bad thing. The core Final Fantasy franchise, the numbered sequels, are turn-based RPGs, not hack & slash button mashers. This is disgusting.

ninsigma2963d ago

Maybe that's just not selling anymore.

Playable_Gamez2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

Button mashing? Real-time combat still requires strategy, planning, timing, and analytical skills. And if FFXV is anything like Kingdom Hearts, it requires all 4.

You don't even know what you are talking about.

Let's see you button mash in the souls games and see how that will turned out for you.

ninsigma2963d ago

@playable
Agreed. Real time takes a lot of strategy and requires you to do it much faster too.

Double_O_Revan2963d ago

Since day one, back when it was Vs13, it was known to be a real time combat game instead of turn based. This is no surprise.

Kryptix2963d ago

Final Fantasy 14, which has real time combat...

...is amazing.

In my top 5 Final Fantasy games, for sure. 15 looks like it gives you a much more tactical approach than turn based. Attacking, dodging, magic, and more in just a few seconds of action.

cash_longfellow2963d ago

I'd love to see you button mash through some of the super bosses in KH. Don't worry, I've got time, I'll wait.

oakshin2963d ago

I dont wont FF to copy KH either but its not a button masher system lol im downloading the demo right now

Fishy Fingers2963d ago

This might be my first FF game ever (I know, don't hate me)!

PizzaSteve2963d ago

FF13 was my 1st and I couldn't play it so boring. This FF looks better but I might skip. Not into FF really.

ninsigma2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

Ff13 certainly wasn't a good one start with. I recommend playing anything up until 10. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Personal pick is 7, I highly recommend that one!

Edit:
9 is also a very good choice.

Taero2963d ago

Holy crap you picked a bad one to start with...VIII or VIX would have been good choices, even X, XII I couldn't finish, same with XIII.

glassgannon9092963d ago

trust me , youre much better than a lot of self proclaimed true ff fans

Deadpooled2963d ago

Same here, but I've played Kingdom Hearts 1 using pcsx2 and that was great so if FFXV feels like that did then I might purchase it.

Double_O_Revan2963d ago

This will also be my first FF game. I tried the original over a decade ago, and didn't make it very far.

Kryptix2963d ago

No hate. A lot of us miss out on great franchises or games, but play others. Like I never played Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2, but always hear so many great things about them.

If you can, you should get the enhanced version of Final Fantasy 7 or Final Fantasy 10 HD. Those two games will really show you the fundamentals for names of different types of magic, creatures, and other things. I'm not sure if 15 uses magic ranks, but for fire it's like, Fire, Fira, then Firaga. There's more to learn like chocobos and weaknesses...for example, mech/machine enemies are very weak to lightning based or enchanted attacks.

Clown_Syndr0me2963d ago

This is the least appealing FF to me ever,..where's the diversity in characters? I'll play it, but I really don't like the 4 goth guys thing,

DaddyPoppa2963d ago

All black =/= Goth.

Its annoying assumption at best and disgusting ignorance at it's worst.

You could have also assumed young Yakuza members (consider Yakuza members also wear all black) but you choose to compare it to a fad that died around the same time this game was originally announced (aka a long time ago).

Clown_Syndr0me2963d ago

Alright whatever you completely missed my point, clearly.
I usually love the diversity of characters in Final Fantasy, this one doesn't seem to have that element at all, at least not when it comes to their appearance. Gameplay looks decent, but again not the point I'm making,

DaddyPoppa2963d ago

I got your point, it was just muddle by your crude explanation of your reasoning behind said point.

Yui_Suzumiya2963d ago

Yeah I'm guessing by that logic that he believes Johnny Cash invented goth, lol

Kryptix2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

Not very wise to judge a book by it's cover, just like judging characters by appearance.

A lot of old Final Fantasy games didn't have a full cast of interesting looking characters, but when you read their dialogue and in-game story, you became much more attached to them.

And I was also thinking Yakuza-like or some sort of gang like DaddyPoppa mentioned. Definitely characters that have known each other for a while and/or have worked in the same crew, being dressed similar.

Clown_Syndr0me2963d ago

To be honest I haven't played that many. I've probably only completed one and that was FFX. I was so attached to that game and it's characters!

I said in another comment hat the no diversity thing was judged purely on appearance, but that won't stop me giving it a go as that would be very shallow.

Kryptix2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

You coming out of FFX, I understand your point of view now because that game to me had the most colorful characters. All of them had very distinctive personalities like Wakka was the chill, but most passionate guy cause he cared so much about his Blitzball team, Lulu was the dark and monotone, but yet, loving mage and Auron was mothafcking Auron! lol He was like the wise, guiding force to Tidus and had a hard past being a guardian to also Yuna's father.

Looking at FF 15's main characters, they do look average...but Square Enix knows how to give characters a special role and driving force to the story. So expect them to not be synonymous to their clothing and more like having a bond or brotherly love around. Maybe one of them will be one that ends up disagreeing with the group, but you also understand his point of view. Something like that to keep the story and interactions interesting.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled25d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog157d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake157d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic155d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan156d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman157d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator157d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno156d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior157d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake157d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
