Final Fantasy XV Demo PS4 vs Xbox One Screenshot Comparison: Both Look Great but PS4 Has the Edge

Today Square Enix released both the PS4 and the Xbox One versions of the “Platinum Demo” of Final Fantasy XV, giving a chance to take a glimpse at how the game’s visual optimization is proceeding on Sony’s and Microsoft’s platforms.

Since it's a multiplat its safe to assume that the PS4 version has the edge where resolution is concerned. As for frame rate that could end up being anything but usually the PS4 version gets the edge.

Regardless the game will be fine on both systems.

From those screenshots it is night and day difference PS4 looks more polished especially on the Character model. The first pic you can really tell how Microsoft turns up the brightness losses the look of real skin.

PS4 version looks noticeably sharper, but it's not 1080p IQ. Looks like 900p for PS4 and 792p for Xbone.

@Perjoss No, FFXIII was 720p on PS3. Only the CGI cinematics were 1080p.

Not sure. After playing it though, I definitely believe there was a visual downgrade since Duscae. On the other hand, the frame rate seems more stable. Good call, in my opinion.

Downloading the demo on Xbox One when I get home. My PS4 is off for repair at the moment, so I'll download it again on that when I get it back as that's the platform I'll be buying it on and I want Carbuncle!

I am glad the game is looking great. I am hungry for a good FF game. I never liked the Lightning series.

They both don't look good, drab looking world. Early mission to "get gas in your car", a side quest to help a stranded motorist. All samey looking characters. This game just doesn't do it for me.

Final Fantasy 15 has been in development for 10 years and being Final Fantasy, there will a lot of cool ass characters and ememies.

You're gonna be itchy for days not getting this when you find out that all you described was less than 1% of the game.

Well no, not if you've only got one platform, but to those with both it may well matter.

PS4 looks quite a bit better in my opinion, so it's a no brainer purchase for that system if you have the means.

The FPS is pretty bad on both versions. I'll most likely still get it on the PS4 as that's the platform I always buy my FF games on. I'll have to download the demo tonight so I can play it in the morning. After playing the demo, I'll decide if it's worth preordering or not.

After playing games on my newly built PC going back to PS4 to play Duscae and Platinum was rough on the eyes/brain/stomach. I wish they would have at least mentioned if it was planned or not for PC because I would love to skip straight to 144hz. Of course I already preordered the uber edition for ps4 so happy/sad face.

Lol, congrats on your 'newly built pc'. No one cares, I built myself a nice high end pc early February which allows for far better graphics than consoles, but I still spend way more time on my PS4. Don't play graphics buddy, play games.

As expected. PS4 versions are always better but xb1 is at least getting the game and im sure it will run just fine.. You cant tell the difference unless you have them side by side anyway.. That or you have a massive HD TV and see the jaggies..

Its no secret i prefer PS over XB but its not just because of stuff like this.. The exclusive games offered on PS are what im attracted to so XB owners should have nothing to fear.. It will still be the same game

Cant really tell from the pictures. PS4 will always have the edge, the case now is for how much better does it looks on the ps4.

One of the pictures that show the PS4 is better is the one of the yellow car. The forniture behind, the car itself, its wheels... more detail in the PS4 version and a lot of blur in the Xbone versione. Just keep doing cursor key left and right on the keyboard and you'll notice right away.
Check Noctis face and the vase behind him in the pics where it's all huge (with the huge candle).
Is it normal?

In those days it was because they actually took the time to optimize for cell, because it was the only popular platform in most regions where the game was going to sell the most copies... this time around it WOULD be true except there is simply a power difference in favor of ps4 .

and PS4 is the popular one,so I believe that the X1 is powerful (less powerful than PS4)to run games smoothly but Devs are focusing on PS4 ....
anyhow,i played the demo the game is freaking awesome the gameplay is the gameplay of my dreams coming true and the graphics is beastly done,and there is a scene where the Levathian (if that's how its written) make a leap out of the water on a sunset setting it just blew my freaking mind *_*

The screens for the grass area are different time in-game. PS4 version seem to have better texture work and lightning that all.

Gonna download for both systems this weekend. I will decide for myself. I will tell you this, I will probably buy the xbox one version simply because I have a 2TB Hdd. I don't want to upgrade the PS4 hdd right now.

the art design and graphics are very good . first stage ( nature ) as well as the big room as well as the citadel are a pleasure for the eyes ..overall crafting is very high quality
no issues on framdrop here ...wonder what the people is talking about ....
xb1 and ps4 look quite close btw... not that sure the ps4 version looks better... at least on my tv

overall a very good demo that showcases what theyr designing and doing , besides not being a FF fan , i have nice expectations now

Pixel counts indicate that the Final Fantasy 15 Platinum Demo uses a dynamic resolution on both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The PS4 resolution seems to vary between 1600x900 and 1920x1080 while the Xbox One resolution seems to vary between 1344x756 and something close to 1690x950.

it may be the ps4 has a quite big pixel count difference .. anyhow trust me is not that noticeable through playin both (at least on my tv .. have a 40' tv , maybe on larger screen ..i dont know,, ) have hard time sayin one version looks clearly better then the other seriously

btw i cant play them side by side but no way 790p on xb1 .. lines are very sharp .. curves too ..graphic is sharp ( and very well made.. )
but then i know 720p not 790p ..
it looks much more 1080 then else

I finished the new demo on PS4, its 900p and not stable 30fps, many jaggies, shadows look awful for a 2016 game the shadows its like low or medium settings on pc games.

Same on Xbox one.

This engine, more that 10 years of production, destroyed the quality of the game. It is virtually unplayable with slow response and many jaggies. It will not change anything until the game realese, had a long time to solve it and we know how the Japanese developers are behind in technology.

I do not think metal gear 5 ha a beauty standard graphic, but after playing and go to the demo of Final Fantasy, seemed to be playing a version of Xbox 360, from game made for Xbox one.

I played the final fantasy version for the Xbox one and I can say that is unplayable, framerate sucks, it seems that runs at 15 frames sometimes. Graphically both versions seem almost the same, the difference between the colors is because the game changes the climate at all times. Framerate version ps4 I can not say, but it was not very good in the last demo too.
The engine of this game sucks, textures are horrible and blurred. Maybe in pc be a playable game.

I have to admit I am a little underwhelmed by the demo, I alway associate FF titles with great presentation but felt this demo was quite rough looking and not s huge leap forward from FF13.
