Gamers care.

Abash2978d ago

Pachter obviously missed Sony's E3 last year, or he just made it even more obvious he isn't a gamer

Thatguy-3102978d ago

Well it's obvious he isn't one since he's just a guy that follows the industry and analysis it's trends. At the end of the day I doubt he's passionate about the hobby itself so his statement here is pretty useless.

Overload2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

Agree, he must not have seen the Sony E3 2015 reaction videos.

They made people cry out of sheer happiness.

The Year Of Dream v2 is going to happen.

S2Killinit2978d ago

as if Patcher would know.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2978d ago

I'm still wondering how anyone could think that this guy is worth paying a salary.

DARKKENT2978d ago Show
Gazondaily2978d ago

Who cares what Patcher thinks?

The world is watching Sonys E3 for a reason. Sony are the ones smashing it and saving this medium from going down the toilet. Respect to Sony.

johndoe112112978d ago

"If you ever want to look at the ten biggest disappointments from E3 of all time, they would all be from Sony’s press conferences."

Did anyone else smell the utter and absolute BS emanating from this statement? Gamingbolt is becoming more and more like the anus of gaming journalism.

rainslacker2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

I think if you look at E3's top ten biggest announcements, you'd find that most of them are also from the Sony conferences.

Also I disagree with "all of them are from Sony conferences". I recall the crickets chirping at the Xbox One price reveal....so MS at least gets one under their belt.

Anyhow, if Sony does indeed have the biggest disappointments, it means that people put rather high expectations on them, and the fact that they also have some of the best E3 moments says that they can also meet expectations sometimes...and if you go by last years event, surpass them in every way imaginable....except Vita support.

Maybe Patcher is the only one disappointed because Sony often proves him to be wrong in his analyses. Bias perhaps? I often see a lot of happy people after a Sony conference, although they have had some duds here or there.

That being said, I'm sure more people care about what Sony will announce than what Patcher will predict.

BigLurch2978d ago

So will you have played any of Sonys 'big' games announced at last years e3 before this years e3? No you haven't,and you still know no more about them now than from last year but here you are still defending haha. What a joker.

Ashlen2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

He's mad because he has a lot of money put on Microsoft and he has for years been telling his investors to also put there money in Microsoft.

Griever2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

Guys, the headline is just clickbait. The "author" just picked parts of Pachter's comments out of context. If you read the article you will get his point. He is saying that the announcements are disappointing because they are often so far off. They are exciting announcements but they are so distant in the future that they are disappointing.

For example, The Last Guardian, FF7 Remake, Shenmue III, Horizon Zero Dawn, No Man's Sky, Rime etc. I am disappointed too because I dont know when I will get to play those games I am so excited for. At least I will finally get to play FFXV this year after waiting for more than 9 years... I definitely want Sony as well as other companies to announce games no more than a year before expected release date. Having to wait for 3 years or even more after announcement for your most anticipated games is just excruciating.

I think they should definitely release The Last Guardian ASAP. The game is becoming more of a running joke for the Playstation haters and skeptics because of being stuck in development hell for so long and yet having trailers released once in a few years. Team ICO is an extremenly talented dev and their games are masterpieces but these delays are hurting their latest game.

SegaGamer2978d ago

I don't even understand why people give him the time of day. Seriously, who is he really ? sounds like another mouth piece to me.

Kryptix2977d ago

Not only do we need to stop giving Michael Patcher articles clicks, but also gamingbolt.com.

No more comments, no more "Read Full Article" clicks that make it hotter. I've seen lesser known sites that deserve more heat than these.

We're making them more important than they actually are and if I get disagrees on this, then there's bots and secret gamingbolt writers roaming around here that exploit the heat system.

MattE2977d ago

#Abashed

What happened last year? Other than announcing a 6 year old game may be ready for release shown with the same game play as every other time footage was shown?

And a crowd funded Shenmue 3, which will basically be an indie game. Sony ruined that franchise then.

What else?

Pongwater2977d ago

More gamers care about what Sony announces than what Michael Pachter says.

andyo132977d ago

Michael Pachter is one of the few who actually understand how the industry works. There's a large fanbase that thinks they understand the games industry when they really don't. It all comes down to money, these companies are there to make money. It's called business, I own multiple businesses in the fields I'm interested in and understand how they work.

E3 is great and gets us all very excited about what's to come. But so often what we actually get is far from it or so far away. That's one thing I hate about the games industry, we get so excited about all these awesome games mostly years in advance so by the time they actually come out we've lost interest. I was super excited for tearaway, watch dogs, the division, destiny, assassins creed, and more. Not all of those games were bad but I just lost interest waiting.

So Michaels point holds true. There's very little reason to watch E3 as it just creates a painful long wait for a game that's far off or doesn't come the way it was promised.

Cueil2977d ago

and you clearly didn't read the article *sigh*

LordMaim2977d ago

@BigLurch @moldybread
There are games from Microsoft's Xbox One launch event in 2013 that aren't even due to be out this year. What precisely is your point?

Dee_912977d ago

I want to be like Michael Pachter when I grow up, a 50 y/o trolling gamers on the internet.
I'm jking, gamingbolt just took his comments out of context. I mean his comments are indeed stupid, but still taken out of context. So you get gamingbolt grade a journalism and the sensational Michael Pachter you've got yourself a clickbait.

"Michael Pachter: Who Cares What Sony Will Announce At E3"

I care.

I'm normally interested in what Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or PC developers have to show at E3.

LOL_WUT2978d ago

Nintendo has been absent from E3 this whole gen. Last years E3 though was rather lackluster from both Sony and Microsoft. Hopefully they kick it up a notch ;)

Lore2978d ago

Who cares what comes out of Pachter's mouth

-Foxtrot2978d ago

""If you ever want to look at the ten biggest disappointments from E3 of all time, they would all be from Sony’s press conferences"

LOL

I'm sorry has he watched Nintendo's...they pretty much gave up E3 in the end.

Kingthrash3602978d ago

So the kinetic wasn't a disappointment?
The wiiu?
1999-2016 madden?
Battlefront?
Assassin's creed?
Cod ghosts?
24hr check in?
Xboxone 499.99?
No trades?
#deal with it?
Nintendo no show?
What's that 11?
I can't say they are all top 10 and yes Sony has had some disappointments but to say tye top 10 is all Sony proves this guy isn't in tune with gaming.
He don't own a system and wakes up to the weather channel every Monday and thursday.

freshslicepizza2978d ago

did you read the article? it talks about games announced that are years from actual release.

ShadowKnight2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

Coming from a guy that's makes predictions that never happens lol. Still can't believe this guy still works in the game industry.

Another propaganda article to get gamers to re-act. smh

propaganda: a "manipulation" made to believe a lie is true.
"subliminal" suggest one's ideal is good or bad repeatively.
one mans thought (pachter) wanting gamers mind controlled to think "who cares" about Sony now.
in REALITY all gamers care.

remixx1162978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

It's weird right?? He asking who cares about the announcements from the company that's has the most potential buyers, the most first party studios and the most 2nd and 3rd party support.......

Like septic said sony is holding this console sh×t together

patcher is just waiting for consoles to fall out and he's targeting the biggest giant sony......which they are doing a great job of countering his point

Also did he miss last year's e3, Sony announced the most begged for and interesting ips in a long time, the last guardian, ff7 re., shenmue 3, horizon zero dawn, dreams......damn it was nuts.

uth112978d ago

It's Pachter.. Remember the opposite of what he says is the truth.

jb2272978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

The 2 examples he gave completely disproved any validity to his argument...he mentioned Rockstar showing off an early sketch for Red Dead Redemption & potentially seeing a sequel to TLOU...considering RDR & TLOU were hands down two of the most acclaimed gaming experiences of last gen, who cares how long they take to drop if they end up being generation & genre defining experiences?

At the end of the day I'd rather wait for absolute quality than be treated to some mediocre games on a consistent basis. Pachter talks out of his rear end quite a bit, but these comments take the cake.

@moldy...what does their release schedule matter when they turn out to be absolute quality games? I'd rather wait for perfection than be delivered mediocrity on time...MS made sure the Halo MCC dropped on time but it's mp was utterly broken, then they ensured that Halo 5 release on time w/ the worst campaign of the series. E3 is a time to show your wares, not a time to announce your release calendar. I'd rather you show me games that will meet my expectations on a longer time table than feed me games that felt like wasted potential but hit their release like clockwork. I'm gonna file those concerns of yours under a "false criticism"...also, we may have to wait a bit longer for some games to show, but at least they aren't being outright cancelled like Fable Legends...how many conferences were slinging that game only for it to get the axe a month or two before release?

3-4-52978d ago

Some of the biggest disappointments have come from Sony's E3 conferences.....as well as Nintendo's & Microsoft's too. ( also 3rd party dev's).

Some of the greatest moments have come from Nintendo,Sony & Microsoft as well as 3rd party devs.

There is no one or the other.

There is good and there is bad and everything in between.

I'm actually really excited for E3 this year.

Bathyj2977d ago

I hate titles like this, because I want to read it to see how you could possibly justify such a ridiculous claim, but I don't want to click because that's exactly what they want you to do and the very purpose of clickbait.

llMurcielagoll2977d ago

Indeed we do, as a gamer, I will always watch the E3 press conferences, Sony or otherwise, you never know what sort of surprises they have in store.

fiveby92977d ago

Clearly Pachter is trolling people to get attention. I don't feel the need to click on that story as it is clickbait and a very needy person looking for attention.

magiciandude2977d ago

Pachter is the man. Sony promises a whole lot more than they deliver. Just look at last year's E3, many of the big games shown still don't even have a release date...

trooper_2977d ago

Does Microsoft have release dates for all of their games?

DigitalRaptor2972d ago

@ spectre_

Don't expect balance from these folks, because you'll never find it.

kenwonobi2971d ago

Its bitterness. Sony crushed his prediction of a Microsoft win this generation. He has been bitter ever sense.

GamingIVfun2977d ago

Pachter is full of himmself.....Sh11!

SpinalRemains1382977d ago

Right, because if they show a teaser for TLoU 2 as a confirmation of it coming and a little tidbit of lore, who cares?

kenwonobi2971d ago

Its bitterness his biggest prediction was false about Sony. He predicted falsely that Xbox would win this generation. Not only that dominate it. The result was a crushing defeat in the opposite direction. Michael Pachter as a result was embarrassed.

jon_snow2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

If you look at top announcement in E3 most will be from Sony press conference. Everyone has both good and bad, it's about balance and past 5 years E3 sony had it.

DragonDDark2978d ago (Edited 2978d ago )

Lol patcher. I don't know what's going on with his mind. Sometimes he states the obvious and sometimes he says stupid sh*t again

Liqu1d2978d ago

Another quality article by Gaming Bolt and more nonsense from Michael Pachter. I swear this guy either states the obvious or makes ridiculous claims.

"Who cares what Sony will announce at E3?"
A lot of gamers.

stuna12978d ago

Or maybe he's stating his question in a way that's saying at this point going by Sony's past and recent announcements that it's pretty obvious that regardless of what Sony has to show, they are now in the drivers seat and therefore the company to beat.

At this point Sony will be their own worst competitor.

Davi1232977d ago

You get alot of disagrees, but i get your point.
If this year Sony surprise us all, with a equal or superior E3 compared to the last one, for the next year will be even more difficult!

If what they are doing is that good, what’s the point of hiding the true story?

anast11h ago

She's a caricature of the shareholders.

PRIMORDUS9h ago

"Shareholders" I call them cancer, they are already rich to begin with but need more and more. It's like a disease, with no cure.

Leeroyw7h ago

I own shares in game companies. I'm not anything near a major share holder. I just want them to make good games and be successful because of that. I think it's the senior management that's the problem. They are the ones that should be making it clear to the shareholders what creates growth and ensures a future of their business. Not this weasle words garbage that she did on the interview. It was horrific. I don't know a shareholder that would be happy with any of them for this.

Profchaos5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Same and I'm not rich by any stretch like most people's I'm just trying to keep my head above water these days most company's shareholders are made up of everyday people it's amazing how companies think we want something but the reality is we don't.

Disney are probably the worse at the moment it's shareholders voted on ending a lot of the crap and outing the current execs the execs turned around and said no we disagree with the shareholder vote

PRIMORDUS1h ago

I meant at the rich fucks who have millions in the bank already. They are making so much per year, that if they don't make what they are expecting they go into a panic, when in reality it will not even hurt them at all. Those are greedy assholes.

CrimsonWing6911h ago

Yea, it was and it’s insulting that they think we’re dumb enough to fall for this. Look, the truth was you took a gamble on these studios and while they released some games to critical praise and great reception they just aren’t bringing in a ROI. Be transparent, you’re not a politician.

Just tell everyone you spend money on projects big and small and when money isn’t being made you go over the potential of revenue a studio can bring in vs those that can’t and make the hard decision to chop them.

She says this whole thing about “success” doesn’t fit one meaning for each studio. Well yea, a small budget production isn’t going to expect to sell the same as a large budget production.

One thing I wish they did though was let Tango be an independent studio.

TheGamingHounds10h ago

disheartening to see no regard for the human cost of business anymore
the bad decisions and judgements of these CEOs severely impact the frontliners
these fake responses are just salt on wounds

Alot’s changed in 25 years. We have games with $300 mill budgets, people not interested in games other than Fortnite and Minecraft, the older generation of gamers giving up the hobby or dying off, a period of super bad inflation where the industry decided to hike up prices on games, Gamepass harming game sales, GaaS games being pushed left and right with obnoxious monetization and worse looking/playing (Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight).

The industry is just shite right now. Games ain’t selling, games cost massive amounts, businesses can’t bleed money and this is what happens. Part of it is on them and part of it is on consumers not buying.

Yi-Long1h ago

Consumers ain't buying because of what they're selling; There is no new SSX or Burnout, everything is now Online Required, everything is 'service', etc.

Indies are still delivering the goods, perhaps even better than ever, because those are often the guys and gals who know what they want to make and just make that and hopefully we dig it as well and support it ...

... but when you look at those multi-million budget AAA games, are they improving on what we have had before? Is the new Forza Motorsport better than a Forza Mototsport 4? Is Halo Infinite better than Halo 3? Is Dragon Age 2 such a huge improvement over the first Dragon Age? Etcetc.

Yeah, graphics have gotten better, worlds have gotten better, but I think a gaming generations stands or falls with diversity and experiences, and a few gens ago we had access to whatever we wanted, so if we wanted a boxing game we picked up one of the boxing games, if we wanted snowboarding we'd pick up one of the snowboarding games, if we wanted to do a rythm game we had DJ Hero, or Guitar Hero, or Rockband. If we wanted to sneak around we had Splinter Cell or MGS or whatever.

We had variety and we had options, and that makes or breaks a generation, imo. You're in a foodcourt of games and they're serving all kinds of different cuisines, and so you'd pick and choose whatever you felt like that day.

Right now, you're in a restaurant, and you're only allowed to pick from one menu, and there's a dress-code, and you have to register, and you have to stay in your seat, etc etc.
