Top 5 Best Multiplayer Games Ever… And it’s Not What You’d Think

When a modern gamer thinks of the best multiplayer games they have ever played many might think big. Games like Destiny, Rainbow Six Siege and Grand Theft Auto V have taken multiplayer to scales larger than one could have ever imagined. Multiplayer games have taken the center stage in modern gaming. With that being said, the best multiplayer games out there don’t have to be colossal l to be impressive.

I am not a fan for games like Destiny where multiplayer is just forced at you. My favorite multiplayer in modern gaming is defiantly Gears of War. I like how leveling up doesn't make you better than someone who just started playing. I could never wrap my mind around COD doing that.

The issue isn't that "games like destiny" have forced multiplayer. Battlefield was one of the biggest shooters on PC and it never even had a single player until Bad Company. BF2 is still regarded by BF fans as the best iteration of Battlefield and the BF4 community praises DICE LA for changes to try to make the game a little more like BF2.

However, the issue with multiplayer games stem from a lack of content. Destiny had a fleshed out lore and story ready for the game. However, given the fact that they had a deadline to meet, they had to cut corners, and it feels like they didn't want to remove their efforts from gameplay, so the story had to go. As for "forced multiplayer" on Destiny, it doesn't feel that way at all. Yeah, most of the focus is on multiplayer PvE and PvP but that's because Destiny is supposed to follow an MMORPG-type format while still being a FPS.

I enjoy playing multiplayer games where anything can happen and it can be chaotic yet fun playing with others.

Wow not a single game from the cover is even mentioned? How Is COD not on there? basically any FPS multiplayer game today has taken something from COD.

COD has taken a bunch from BF.... Classes, Modes, etc.. Check it up, you wont believe how much has started in BF.

Gears of War 1 and CoD4 are 2 of the best MP games I've played

Arma 2 is great as well with it's mods and mission files makes it a fantastic MP game and offers a very unique experience.

Totally agree with you. And in second place for me is Modern Warfare 2. Two games released on the same season. So much nostalgia and good memories. I wish my ps3 was not broken so i could play them. A remaster for ps4 would be great.
