David Cage Became A Fan Of David Bowie Because Of Omikron The Nomad Soul

Tributes have been pouring out over the last 48 hours to mark the passing of musician David Bowie, and over the last 24 hours there has been a smattering of tributes from gamers as well. Most of those have come in the form of memories about Omikron: The Nomad Soul, the game where David Bowie appeared as a musician in-game that the player could interact with.

The director on that game was David Cage, who has made a living out of creating games just as unusual as Omikron. But given the circumstances, it was only natural that Cage would offer his thoughts and condolences for Bowie given the two worked together.

Heavy Rain was my favorite . Fahrenheit was great too

MadLad524d ago

Eh.

Beyond Two Souls and Detroit were alright for the most part.
They're still making games, so something going decent for them.

Supermassive is definitely beating them in this genre though.

David Cage defends response to allegations of unhealthy studio culture at Quantic Dream

From Eurogamer: "David Cage has responded to allegations of unhealthy studio culture and inappropriate behaviour at Quantic Dream, which he previously described as a "smear campaign".

Published in this month's Edge Magazine, Cage discusses in depth the company culture of the studio and denies a lack of humility in its response to allegations.

"I don't think we had an aggressive attitude," he said. "When you're accused of things that go against everything you believe in, everything you've done in your life, it hurts. It went beyond just attacking the studio culture."

Hasn’t this been a story for years now ? Doesn’t seem like anything changed or they have some very upset workers who lie for a long time ? Seems like it isn’t the latter .

SegaSaturn669626d ago

They should hire Kevin Spacey as a janitor. That would be awesome.

sourOG626d ago

The people who use words like “unhealthy culture” are usually mentally ill themselves. Not saying it’s not true, just sayin.

MadLad626d ago

Interesting comment to make ..

sourOG625d ago

Lol just saying. The last person I want to hear about “healthy culture” from is the people who use those words. Ususlly some kind of identity theory-ism. Commie talk.

jartoon625d ago

Okay... How would a mentally healthy person describe a shitty work environment?

sourOG625d ago

Shitty work environment

sourOG625d ago

I’m getting some disagrees so let me elaborate and try to change your mind.

Do you want to hear about healthy culture from people who celebrate fatness or put kids on puberty blockers as a few examples? That’s the kind of people who say shit like that and they are the most destructive force I’ve ever seen in my life when it comes to culture. Easily.

When you say culture what do you mean? The very core, right? The soul. QD is rotten to the very core and it needs to be replaced. With what? Ask whoever is using that term. I’m sure they have an idea. And I’d bet money their idea of healthy culture is ass backwards and not profitable lol.

Another example. I just saw a Kellogg ad that said “Food Justice for black communities”. They think they can trigger black folks into buying cereal with words like justice lol. They might be right, who knows. I laugh at shit like that though because I see right through these idiots.

TLDR:
Some people use words to communicate. “Shitty work environment”

Some people use words to manipulate. “Unhealthy culture” “Food justice”

Sites like Kotaku have been crapping on Cage for a long time now, to the point where I'm suspicious of if he has earned the bad rep he has. Go read Kotaku's review of Detroit, I recall it being borderline unprofessional.

Lol. Ridiculous.

Humans can be amazing sometimes. The other times they can be very stupid to believe nonsense.

Love the game though. Still got it on Dreamcast.

Billions of people all over the world believe in the bible. Why should this be any different?

SurgicalMenace872d ago

And amongst those billions are many who find more fulfillment than those who don't. So what's your point?🤷🏾‍♂️

ApocalypseShadow872d ago (Edited 872d ago )

Here's a twist for you: there are people who believe in the Bible and science. Very intelligent people because you can't have something come from nothing. Then, bang. You exist. You must believe in the Steven Hawking "rocks bouncing around theory." Or that we won the cosmic lottery. Why did the bang or bangs just stop? They should still be happening in space that we could detect. But I'm not going to get into it with someone that has supported rumors and lies in gaming and called on it multiple times. Since I wasn't there during creation of all this, I couldn't tell you myself. It would be over reach.

For these internet people to bring up an old game like Nomad Soul because it has Omicron in it is like telling everyone that a grapefruit is a grape because it has the word, "GRAPE" in it. That's really scientific./s

We could pull thousands of media and say it predicted something or life imitating art. It's best to not read into it.

1nsomniac872d ago

It’s just another form of media that “published” a form of story that people are linking to real events.

People cling on to silly things because they feel they need it. It’s just what people do. Always have done, always will. But you can’t think one’s daft and not the other.

1nsomniac872d ago

@SurgicalMenace those people that think they find enlightenment over others also CHOOSE to ignore that we know the bible was at least rewritten by the Catholic Church at least once. We also know that it was rewritten by the Nazis and if they had won the war they would have replaced the current version with their own. Showing how easy it is to do so…. But I digress…

hoodrat871d ago

@1nsomniac even the most edgy basement atheist's grow out of the phase where they need to call everyone who isn't an atheist dumb. Why not you?

1nsomniac870d ago (Edited 870d ago )

Oooo edgy basement atheist called out for stating confirmable facts…

Calm down dear, don’t get upset. I actually agree with ApocolypseShadow to an extent. I believe in some form of creator, because realistically it is the only logical explanation. However of course I don’t believe in the bible because the very notion of it is less believable than having a god itself. It’s ridiculous beyond any sense of intellect.

Believing in god although not provable is understandable. Believing in a book surviving in full in all of its original text and readable in full by a language that didn’t exist. All while being present for the entire duration by humans with their destructive, manipulative ways, Is beyond retarded.

I remember reading the previews for this game and being excited and then it came out. Oof. No wonder Quantic Dream gave up on gameplay and made interactive movies instead.

The the Greek alphabet is so cool that one letter can became a name of something, a videogame and a deadly vírus, omicron, or a test version of a game, beta, or a pre build of a game, alpha, a cluster in mass effect like rho.
