I have played sleeping dogs. Its not that good. Some people love it. I compare it to the true crime games. A poor mans GTA basically.

UnHoly_One3094d ago (Edited 3094d ago )

I believe it started off in development as a True Crime game before it became Sleeping Dogs.

Crazay3094d ago

You;re exactly right. When the publisher decided to cancel the project Square-Enix bid on it and bought it then nurtured it and release dwhat I think is anything but a "poo man's GTA" It's grounded a little more in reality but the story was fun, the acting was good and the gameplay was tight. To degrade it that way is unjust in my opinion.

Crazay3094d ago

Yes I played Sleeping Dogs and LOVED IT!

Wasn't a fan. Just didn't do it for me, and i'd have prefered Japanese voice actors with subtitles. Even as an option.

kneon3094d ago

The game is set in Hong Kong, not Japan

I played Sleeping Dogs and LOVED IT! Best fighting mecanics IMO!

iceman063094d ago

I agree with the fighting mechanics. They were such a blast to play with. I NEVER wanted to really use weapons.
They should take those mechanics and keep them for use with other games...if there's not going to be a sequel (not that online only thing they tried). IMO, they could do some Kung Fu Theater styled games with ease. The tribute to Enter The Dragon (that DLC) could sell pretty well as some smaller, one-off type experiences. They could even take an episodic route with that. Just a thought.

Loved the game, got the platinum on Ps3

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai51d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing6950d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle50d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal50d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa50d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal50d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

watching the video is better then going through 31 pages of gamingbolt.

LG_Fox_Brazil197d ago

Do they explain in the video why there are two numbers 3? Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom?

Bloodborne is a game I still restart and play every few months. I would welcome just a re release in 60fps with a visual upgrade. It's a perfect game. If I was king for a day I would include the randomizer mods because then it would be a kind of rogue like and I could play it forever.

gleepot397d ago

Sure, ill take a sequel to all of these.
