With the recent announcement of PlayStation 2 Classics being re-released on PlayStation 4 it's only fitting that we all want our favorite games to make the transition sooner rather than later. The PS2 was home to some of the most innovative and exciting role-playing games the industry has ever seen. Here are five such role-playing games and franchises that should be released as classics.
.hack (Dot Hack) is a gaming series that started when technology was still evolving and growing. These games showed us some of the horrors but also the best parts of online gaming. But these games are decades old, and perhaps it's time for a remake, a remaster, or even a game in the series.

The Xenosaga trilogy also needs a remake or at least a remaster. I never got into .hack when they came out on the PS2 I would try them out. A remake or a remaster would be great I am not paying an arm and a leg for the original games.

Good list, kudos for adding Shadow Hearts, Covenant is probably the best Jrpg most people have not played and what an improvement over the first one (plus ties with Koudelka which is an awesome game as well).
I own all 3 of those games with 2 copies of Koudelka on PS1 just in case one of the four discs crapped out on me . Same with Legend of Dragoon. That’s one thing I want Sony to get back into , JRPGs , action and turned based
Yep, they should have at least 1 Japanese studio with 2 teams in it specialize in JRPG.
The amount of time I bring up Covenant when referring to amazing RPGs is astounding.
I wish I had played the other Shadow Hearts games, didn't know there was so many until later in the PS3 generation, at that point they hard to get for a reasonable price. I only got to play Covenant sadly, hopefully they'll all get ported to modern systems at some point.
Take a look at the libraries of your favorite consoles. I guarantee you, other than a handful of fighting games better suited on the Dreamcast, PS2 still has the best, biggest, and most varied library. Literally something for everyone. JRPGs on PS1 and PS2 really were special.

With the success of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, this would be the perfect time for Bandai Namco to release a Xenosaga HD Remaster Collection.
Yes please, I know they said it was unlikely to happen, but I never got to play these games, so a collection would be greatly welcomed.
Wild Arms 3 would be great. However, I really want to play Front Mission 3 more than anything. FM3 maybe a strategy/RPG but it was one of the best games released on the PS2 and way better than Front Mission Evolved on PS3. IMHO.
Would certainly buy the Xenogears saga again.
More so since I never got round to finishing it.
Still have those games and they work fine on my backwards compatible PS3.
It would be even greater if the PS4 allowed owners of PS2 game disks to read those games onto the PS4 disk for playing via the PS2 emulator.
Obviously if I don't have a particular PS2 game I would expect to pay for it at a reasonable price.
I just realized that xenosaga episode 3 is the only game I'm missing from this team. Haven't finished a single one either...
