COG writes - We highlight December's 'Big 5', the five biggest games of the month. From open world chaos to squad based tactics and RPG goodness... what are YOU picking up?
"Rainbow Six Siege Major Manchester event was a showcase of Siege play and underdog spirit - with a few boos, some boozy chanting and a sweaty atmosphere."

The new monthly paid subscription for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege has sparked an outrage among the game's community.
Paid subs are coming, and every company is investing heavily in them. From Microtransactions to this type of stuff, the community has been vocal about the issues surrounding ripping customers off, but we are being let down by influencers and journalists in trying to fight off these abhorrent business practices. Influencers and journalists don't say enough about how bad this stuff is. Meanwhile th soft buyers in the general public are getting more outraged by the day and whales are being exploited to pay too much of their own money for pointless crap.
A paid sub is partly why I think Xbox can throw Black Ops 6 on to Gamepass day-and-date and still think of it as "good business."
So PC gaming kills subscriptions model, now they want to bring it back along with season passes, MT, dlc and whatever else they can think of. 🙄
Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 Season 2 Operation New Blood sees the Recruit rework, the introduction of R6 Membership and more.
Good work finding 5 games coming out in December! Pretty slim pickings but just cause looks amazing!
Good to see good games coming out in the last month of the year. Now time to catch up on all the holiday releases and get set a whole new year.
Nice list! I think publishers just ran screaming from December releases this year due to Fallout 4.
Rainbow Six: Siege
Having played the Alpha, Beta, etc, I don't see how it's even going to release on Dec 1st. It simply is nowhere close to being ready. They have sent the game to retailers, so it's going to come in hot, but they should really just eat the cost and get it done right.
All the beta is doing is turning people away from the game and showcasing WHY NOT to buy it.
#1. Servers... P2P, not dedicated. Lags, disconnects, all sorts of awfulness
#2. Matchmaking... they've try to streamline it, but it still hangs
#3. No attack and defend, and no respawns on ALL modes.
If you like playing 5-10 minutes out of every hour you are connected, then this game is up your alley. But with matchmaking issues, and the P2P problems, along with the no respawns, you simply will not be playing the VAST MAJORITY of the time.
Compare it to pretty much any other FPS game, and in those games you play 90+ percent of the time when the mode/game has respawns, and about 50 percent of the time if you play only single life modes.
You combine that with the limited amount of weapons per class, upgrades per weapon, few gadgets, and this puppy simply is just not fleshed out.
They just made some really stupid design decisions with this game. No respawns on ANY mode? Just about everyone wants both. Many will simply bypass a game because it ONLY has 1 life rounds. You MUST have at least ONE mode that has respawns. Deciding not to have that is about as myopic as it gets.
The classes are varied, but only one person per class. Meaning if you have one or two classes you prefer or are good with and they are taken, you're screwed. This leads to people dropping out, which then screws you over, and can lead to the dreaded endless waiting for new people to join this game is notorious for. Their stupid design decisions make the broken game even more likely to showcase it's brokenness and impact the game.
Given the fact that there is friendly fire, it means the waiting problems of this game are worse because you can get a griefer who just wants to team kill.
Given the precarious nature of how unstable the game is, having all these rounds just SUCKS. At any time, the game can break and you lose your progress and ALL THAT WAITING YOU SUFFERED THROUGH WAS IN VAIN.
On top of this, they have this CRAZY setup where if you DON'T WIN... you don't get XP. BRILLIANT!!!!
So you could be winning, and the game screws up, and after half hour get NOTHING. If you get stuck on a crappy team, you could play HOURS and not progress your character AT ALL!!!
It's so sad. The game does some stuff brilliantly. The destruction element is done nicely. The ability to create murder holes by bashing the walls is amazing. The ability to blow up the floor on the 2nd level to surprise them from above is great. The free maps to not split the community is amazing.
There are things this game does right, and during the time you actually get to play the game, if it's not lagging or disconnecting you, and you can play the classes you want to play, it's fun.
Additionally the terrorist hunt AI from what I've heard is pretty darn good, and will bust in and make it a challenge. So the terrorist hunt portion has the potential to be better then the Vegas series. It's just a massive shame they screwed so much of the other stuff up BIG TIME!
The alpha worked pretty good. The beta got worse, and now THIS final beta is even worse. The game seems to get MORE broken as time goes on.
If it doesn't get delayed again, it'll go down as one of the top five biggest disaster games of 2015... ranking right up there with Batman: AK.
the only game i really like is xenoblade , but i won't buy WiiU just for one game ...
