CliffyB Asks to Hit Up Sony/Microsoft if you Want LawBreakers on PS4/Xbox One, Addresses Complaints

Yesterday Boss Key Productions CEO Cliff Bleszinski finally introduced his upcoming free to play arena shooter LawBreakers, but the game has currently been announced only for PC. If you want it on PS4 or Xbox One, Bleszinski encouraged to hit up Microsoft and Sony. On the other hand, he seemed a bit iffy on Nintendo. He also addressed complaint about the publisher and genre.

If Cliffy and his team manage something fresh and engaging with new mechanics and strategic use of gravity this could be something to be excited for.

Except. You specifically gave two perfect examples of why a higher cost game is better.

There are some good F2P games. You already know them. But, overall F2P is a heaping pile of garbage releases fueled by tons of hype until release and then the disappointing pay-2-win articles start hitting. If there is no proof of this games worth then there is nothing to invest in for a F2P title. We get it. His name is recognized. But, he's not relevant anymore to consider investing in just an idea. He made Gears of War. It was a great game. I personally don't find it to be a great franchise. The first was good. Not fond of the sequels.

Not all games that cost more are better or good games. But, in general it turns out true. I certainly put more hours into MineCraft than most games. I still don't hold that higher than something like Oblivion, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, etcetera. I have well over a thousand hours put into a free to play game though. League of Legends. Still. It's wrong to assume Lawbreakers will be a good F2P game just because. It isn't normal to get a good and fair F2P game.

You probably already have a good idea, but....
A lot of it probably has to do with the idea that it is easier to get a lot of people to try your game, then build a larger user base. That of course ties into the marketing.
"Play for free now! <click here>"
Establish user base and saturate the market, and monetize($$$$$).
They also see other people who have made a ton of money with FTP.
There are other reasons too, like the fact that they get to target a different/wider demographic and those who are reluctant to spend money at first, but who may spend money after trying the product.
But whether FTP or pay first then play, it has to be done correctly in order to be a big success.
I'm not usually interested in FTP personally.

Unreal which pretty much made FPS area style gaming to another level.

Then there's Gears which pretty much defined the Xbox 360.

He also worked on Bulletstorm and Fat Princess.

You do not know that. You do not know what terms he and the company he is with are seeking for their title. Did it occur to you that he already approached Sony and MS and both said no, so now he is appealing to the public to in turn put pressure on the very entities that have to date turned him down? Does it not seem very odd that at the point of reveal he has not already had some dialogue with hardware manufacturers?

You do not know if having seen the game, MS and Sony both said we do not think the F2P model planned is a proper treatment of customers. No, at this point there is too much up in the air to make such a statement with any reliability or accuracy.

I haven't played many F2P games but the one that I play religiously is Warframe and I love that game. Gears is my favorite franchise so Cliff will definitely get some love from me if it comes to the One.
