Final Fantasy 15 Simultaneous Worldwide Release Confirmed

For the first time in franchise history, Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy XV simultaneous around the globe.

"Up until now in previous Final Fantasies, we've never attempted a complete global worldwide release with them," game director Hajime Tabata told IGN. "It's always been the export model, where it comes out in Japan first and is then exported to other territories. We're not doing that this time; we want to go full global release."

FFXV is signing some great changes within Square Enix's business structure. I hope more of their major games also get simultaneous worldwide releases.

Magicite3195d ago

after 10 years we will finally see great FF mainline game again.

FallenAngel19843195d ago

We already have the awesome FFXIV from 2013

I'm actually really interested in seeing more of the action-oriented combat.

KryptoniteTail3195d ago

Hopefully this happens for FFVIIR but that it stays turnbased (it's too late for XV but I have hope for VIIR).

I hope we get a release date soon.

Nomura has already said that the battle system will be changing.

http://www.vg247.com/2015/0...

“We can’t have these upgraded, beautiful 3D models of Cloud and Barrett, still lining up in a row, jumping forward to attack an enemy, then jumping back to wait for their next turn,” Nomura said.

“That would be bizarre. Of course there will likely be changes there.”

Ratty3195d ago

And I suppose we'll have to say goodbye to the worldmap as well since it doesn't fit with the beautiful 3D models and all that. I mean Cloud and Barrett being 1/4 the size of a whole city. Now that would be bizarre.

If they're going to change this much, they'll take other liberties. We can't be sure the story will be anything like the original. It could be much shorter. In the end, it's likely that all we'll be left with is a game with a different story, with characters behaving differently yet looking the same. It looks like being their only priority is to be loyal to the characters' original design. The rest is all up to Nomura.

I sure hope I'm wrong but that's what it all sounds like to me. I'm probably going to get it unless they end up really butchering it. It's most likely going to end up being a really good game anyways.

PSN_ZeroOnyx3195d ago

That does not say it will not be turn based, simply means they won't be lined up. The characters can be placed on a 3D battlefield and move around it while remaining turn based like some PS2 RPG's did.

Change comes in many shapes.

Ratty3195d ago

I don't mind about that in FFXV. The worst they could try is to make some sort of weird hybrid between turned-based and realtime like what they've been trying since FFXII. Now THAT is bad. I think we're fine if they stick to either full realtime combat or full turn-based.

Is so damn good to see so many news of this game in comparison of the past when it was Versus, also it will be great to see some information of Dissidia Arcade the PS4 version of course ;)

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled26d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog158d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake158d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic157d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan158d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman158d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator158d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno158d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior158d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake158d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
