To be honest, I think the game looks fantastic especially being a post apocalyptic game. God knows how massive the map will be especially being set in Boston. And how in depth including contents,

War, war never ends.

gameseveryday3267d ago

It looks fantastic with respect to the setting it will take place in. I am interested to see how big the world is this time around.

DarkOcelet3267d ago

If the employer to be trusted then it is 3X bigger than Skyrim.

I cant wait!

Anthotis3267d ago

The graphics aren't top notch for this gen, but they are very nice and a big improvement, nonetheless.

I'm very pleased this rumor about PS3/360 versions of the game have been shot down, as that wouldn't bode well for the game as a whole.

UltraNova3267d ago

@ Fallout 4 devs,

If you release a fully working game at launch I wont ever care if you downgrade the visuals from what we've seen the other day. I love fallout series that much.

Reibooi3267d ago

I honestly think it looks pretty good. If you break it down to a technical level sure it is weaker then one might like. That said it seems to be using color and style far more then 3 or NV did. It's really one of those art style trumps raw graphical horsepower.

I would imagine they may be putting the resources in better areas that would benefit the game far more then just better visuals and I am perfectly fine with that.

I would rather they put a massive open world that runs smooth then push graphics and have a far more shaky experience. But then again that is just me.

Bansai3267d ago (Edited 3267d ago )

no... it doesn't look fantastic, enough with the denial guys, Witcher 3 looks fantastic, Infamous: SS looks fantastic, GTA V looks fantastic, Fallout 4 looks last gen, deal with it.

And the arrogance of Hines saying: "i'm not spending any time or energy caring what they think"

"game looks amazing. i dunno what they're looking at."

Is just laughable

Dewitt3267d ago

Bansai, you have seen one trailer that could be early work. It is one of the biggest franchises ever and Bethesda knows what is important to people. How about you at least wait to see the game in action at E3 before raising your torches. Gamers are so reactionary and entitled anymore, it makes me sick. Would you rather they showed a prerendered trailer with touched up overblown graphics so you can complain later? Didn't think so, so be patient and wait for the gameplay demo at E3.

Apollosupreme3267d ago (Edited 3267d ago )

Dewitt, at a cost of $70/game, gamers should have high expectations. They're ENTITLED to their opinion.

When there are really nice looking games out there with great gameplay and story, it's fair to challenge Bethesda. In fact, go ahead and challenge them regardless because challenge leads to better results.

The dev can scoff all they want, they're also ENTITLED to their opinion. They can also rest easy because they have a great following that's going to show up for this one because they earned it on the previous titles.

People who argue graphics don't matter, fine, I'm with you if the art direction works for the game and more importantly the game is fun and functions properly. However, people who take issue with these graphics are also correct because gaming tastes are subjective and there is no 'right' answer. At $70/game and with many great games out there offering the sandbox experience everyone has the luxury of buying into what's important to them. I would recommend 'GTA5' or Infamous Second Son to Bansai. Alternatively, I would recommend the PC version of Fallout 4 to him as he'll be able to upgrade the graphics(and virtually anything else) shortly after release.

Perjoss3267d ago

@ UltraNova "If you release a fully working game at launch"

Welcome to open world gaming, is this your first?

AliTheSnake13267d ago

Maybe the game is running at 60fps. Which would explain he graphics.

Svinya3266d ago

Apollo - quoting the price with the tax included is silly. Buy this 6 months after release at half price..

Ali - 0 chance of this being 60fps .

starchild3266d ago

It looked pretty good to me. I'll need to see gameplay footage before really judging the graphics, but the trailer generally looked good. It honestly looks about like what I expected it to look like.

UltraNova3266d ago

@ perjo

No I lost count actually but its quite obvious that should you buy F4 it will be your first fallout game as previous ones where practically unplayable, riddled with infinity loading screens, missions that dint work or let you progress, saves that got bigger and bigger the more you played causing horendous lag etc etc etc...

So please spare me the lecture if you please.

mikeslemonade3266d ago

It won't work on last gen hardware but that doesn't make it impressive. People's standards are too low.

Trekster_Gamer3267d ago

It looks great, I think it is much more representative of the final game unlike other devs promotions and then the inevitable downgrades to their games.

Can't wait to dive in.

Magicite3267d ago

wish it wouldn't be on american soil.

bananaboats3267d ago

to bad, deal with it or don't buy it. shouldn't matter what location they choose.

Persistantthug3267d ago (Edited 3267d ago )

How come?
What other city or nation would you have preferred?

Gh05t3267d ago

Yeah that feeling of old time America would really go over well in another country. /s

There is no way to make a traditional Fallout game outside of America since its hard to have the 50's Americana theme in another country.

I am not saying they couldnt create a fallout game in another country it just would be a completely different game in my view.

Back-to-Back3267d ago

Then you obviously know nothing about the Fallout series if you think it would be anywhere else than America.

Erik73573266d ago

Bro....the whole theme of Fallout and art style revolves around american in the 1950's.......like it won't work...it's not a gta.

Lordani663267d ago

Oh really? A game from 2016 will look better than a game from 2008? -.- wooow how freaking awesome! <sarcasm off>

By today's standards, this game looks pretty bad. Not terrible, but pretty bad. And it looks just just a tad better than F3.

TheHomerPimpson3267d ago

@Lordani

I'll take a consistent frame rate and great draw distance over amazing graphics whilst lacking in the aforementioned areas any day. Fallout 3 did a damn good job when it came to that, and I think we can expect the same from 4.

spicelicka3267d ago

Apparently it's 3 times the size of Skyrim.

And remember how shit fallout 3 looked compared to other games out at that time. Fallout 4 looks great compared to other games out.

DrJones3267d ago (Edited 3267d ago )

Fallout 3 looked great. I don't know what you're talking about.

Persistantthug3267d ago

To be honest, whether FALLOUT 4 makes it on PS3 and XBOX 360 is not really Pete Hines call......It's Bethesda and their shareholders.

I fully expect a 7th gen ported version to show up. Financially speaking, 180 million consoles is just way too much revenue to leave on the table.

DrJones3267d ago

Hopefully you are wrong.

LAWSON723267d ago (Edited 3267d ago )

Units do not represent actual active users, shareholders realize the decline in sales for last gen. Do you think they are stupid enough to go through with that when games have continously selling better on next gen.

KwietStorm_BLM3267d ago

How long are people going to use this excuse though? All those consoles sold last gen are always going to be considered sold. They don't have a use by date. That doesn't mean publishers should forever support them either. The industry goes nowhere like that, and games suffer as a result. It's been long enough. Move on or play what you have.

Persistantthug3266d ago

@KwietStorm,

Obviously we all know that 180 million PS3 & XBOX 360 users aren't gonna buy Fallout 4, but that still represents a potential 180 million sales OPPORTUNITIES.

The point I'm trying to make is that the potential sales revenue for 7th gen is still relatively high.....probably on par (approximately) to that of the 8th gen. Less, perhaps, but still very significant. Publishers can't just poo poo that.
I mean, If you were the CEO or president of a large publisher with your job on the line every year and your pay, stocks and bonus tied to the profitability of your company's revenue, could you just easily say "F" 7th gen?

Remember, this is not personal.....this is just the reality of the business.

Erik73573266d ago (Edited 3266d ago )

180 million does not always mean good sales, sales for games for the next gen consoles actually OUTSELL games on last gen console with 180 million vs 20 million +

The community on next gen console (combining pc with it) have games that sell better than on last gen consoles and it's a lot more active. A lot of the gamers who still have a last gen console really only buy stupid shit like Call of Duty and a few others.

They don't really buy games like Fallout,Witcher, Batman arkhma knight,etc.......

_-EDMIX-_3266d ago (Edited 3266d ago )

Even if one did, I don't see that actually hurting Fallout 4 on PS4 and XONE if its being done after the fact.

Mind you, even if they are using the sales on PS4, PC and XONE to fund the ports, even that doesn't really make sense. Ports cost as little as 1 million to produce. I don't think they are making a last gen version as it would actually just make sense to have all 5 out and just have another team porting it while its being made vs after the fact.

I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't really be surprised. Many companies are not really transparent regarding such things. But hiding a last gen version is actually strange considering they will be their money makers, not the next gen versions (based on install base)

@Persis- That doesn't always take into account technical feasibility, consider the game can't be made on those systems which out game breaking changes. They are trying to convey something, that may not be properly conveyed on last gen systems.

For all we know, the more ram might mean the game is seamless with no loading, what if that factors deeply into the game?

As a business man, I theoretically don't disagree with you, but their is always a trade off.

Make a last gen version now and RISK losing an audience on next gen by not making an exclusive next gen experiences.

Example if GTAVI was coming out and this was the start of the gen. Would it make sense to make a PS3 and 360 version along with a next gen version if it meant not making the next gen versions have full interiors with no loading in every building?

What if some other publisher went next gen ONLY from the start and beat Rockstar to the punch? What if that became at the time THE FIRST REAL NEXT GEN open world game in terms of next gen standards?

Its...open world with cars, buildings, vs the same as GTAVI....but every home, building etc can be entered?

That is the reason why some go next gen ONLY as they still need to compete against other publishers on a technical level. We only love GTA as much as we love its amazing features.

I'll very much play an open world game that introduced that concept, they need to strongly push that they are THE #1 post apocalyptic next gen game. To nerf it for sales, could also hurt them if someone like the Metro 2033 team decided they where going fully open world like the older S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

Do you want to be going up against such a concept? would it be worth it if it mean losing sales for the rest of the gen to another company?

cyber_daemonx3266d ago

@Persistant, then you're gonna be waiting for a looooong time.
Fallout 4 will never be on last gen consoles. And about time too.

Last gen machines have been holding back this gen for way too long.

If you wanna play it you're gonna need PS4/xbone or play it on PC.

As it should be.

Zeref3267d ago (Edited 3267d ago )

I'm not a fallout fan but I also think the graphics look amazing. I think its the art style that makes people think it doesn't look good.

tekksin3267d ago

your use of the term 'in depth' makes me cringe.

fr0sty3266d ago (Edited 3266d ago )

"The visuals you're complaining about look awesome!" isn't a way to sell people on the visuals. You can't just deny that people's complaints are invalid when it comes to something as subjective as how beautiful or realistic looking a game is. It's like they're trying a jedi mind trick on the gamers... "There's aren't the droids you are looking for."

I personally don't think it looks terrible, but the jerky animation definitely destroys the immersion... especially the way that dog in the trailer moves. Kinda looks stuck between this gen and last.

BallsEye3266d ago

n4g kids gotta stop complaining about graphics! That's the reason gameplay is getting cut off, similation is being removed, sandbox is being dumbed down...all fot the sake of graphics -.-

Gaming s going backwards...hate current generation of gamers, you guys are ruining it.

To be fair Fallout 3 and New Vegas didn't exactly run all the great on the PS3, it worked I guess, I did mange to finish it, I couldn't finish some of the dlc for New Vegas

I still LOVED them though

madcowzz3267d ago

Some of the DLC for NV were so poor it went down to about 1 fps for me (probably). The biggest lag I've ever experienced in a game aside from MMO's

So I sucked it up and chugged through it because these games are amazing. I'm sure Fallout 4 will be just as amazing

Pogmathoin3267d ago

Memo to Bethesda, no need to explain to anybody. Normal people will love this game, and appreciate it.... The ones who are complaining are the faceless internet cowards who would somehow pick meat off a skeleton.....

mhunterjr3267d ago

I have no idea why people were complaining about this games graphics... Looks sharp to me...

skulz73267d ago

People always complain... I mean people complained about The Witcher 3's "downgrade" even though its the best looking open world game out there.

How nice of them to give us more control over graphical settings as a way to *completely* avoid taking accountability for the broken Xbox settings.

bondsmx1d 21h ago

Well, I still crashed like 5 times last night within two hours. So there’s that.

anast1d 3h ago

I had to stop. The game is not good. I'd rather play Skyrim and that game isn't that good either.

It was totally that bad. I couldn't finish the campaign it was so bland and boring as I recall. Got so sick of it. 1000 stimpaks on hard. It is very rare that I play half a game and then just quit. I usually always finish it. But i was so bored with this game I just stopped and never went back and never regretted it. Just thinking about that game makes me shudder

Furesis7d ago

That's exactly what happened to me too lmao
Fallout 4 is not a fallout game period it's a bethesda game

Vits7d ago

The comparison with Skyrim is mind-boggling. Yes, Skyrim has streamlined many of the systems that Morrowind introduced. However, it did not tamper with the core of the Elder Scrolls franchise; it did not diminish the freedom and sense of exploration that made Bethesda RPGs famous. Fallout 4, on the other hand, did exactly that to the Fallout series. It eliminated what made Fallout such a beloved series to play. There are no consequences for your choices, no reason to explore, and barely any interesting set pieces in the game.

It's not terrible, but it's a painfully mediocre game in a franchise that typically doesn't produce such mediocrity. So that is why people see it as bad, the bar is just much higher.

anast7d ago

They both feel the same because they are, it's just that one has swords and magic and the other has swords and guns.

anast7d ago

I'm replaying it now. It sucks. I'm about 30 hours in and thinking about quitting again. I am so tired of the dialogue I just spam a random button because it doesn't matter. The upgrade just feels like a graphical mod, everything else is not good.

Good-Smurf7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

I couldn't play the game as-is it was insanely boring and grindy and the grind itself are not fun at all.
Mods helped me stomach the game a bit better but after a while I just stopped playing and uninstalled it because the game did nothing after the first few hours to give me any motivation to keep playing it, it just became a mindless looter shooter with obsession in settlement building and defending.
Compared to F3 and FNV, F4 was barely a mediocre game it wasn't bad but it's also very forgettable entry.

MrDead7d ago

It's not that bad after 300+ mods that fix it's issues and make the game fun... but lets not talk about mods right now as they are f****d.
