i saw the rumors of it being xbox one exclusive so i was a little worried but i am glad it's not.

fallout 3 was amazing
new vegas improved on a lot of things while also having a lot of glitches

Eh, I couldn't care less. I think that whole "holding it back" argument is just propaganda. How much difference does an EVER so slight graphical improvement really, honestly make? None at all. In fact I can barely tell the difference between a PS3 game ported to the PS4, and a game built ground up as an exclusive.

A true “next-gen” game would take full advantage of new consoles and push that technology. Nevermind that continuing to develop around old tech hamstrings a game at the gate, stopping it from reaching its full potential.

You think The Witcher 3 could been achieved if it was made for last gen too ? Rocksteady couldn't have achieved (they said that) the Batmobile in Arkham Knight if they hadn't let Last Gen go...

And this isn't just about graphics, it's about big open world, number of NPCs, loading screens etc. Last Gen Fallout had a loading screen behind every door, nobody on next gen wants that and if the developers had to pander to last gen then it may very well have happened. Last generation is over, games should move on. End of story.

What you just said was absolutely true, Ps4 and X1 couldn't even run GTA V at 60 fps and it's a last gen game. They're really trying to convince themselves that these gen 8 consoles are more than a meager upgrade to last gen consoles. PS3 and 360 were high end when they released while ps4 and x1 are barely midrange PC'S if that!

Graphics are only a tiny part of it.

One generation of consoles has 256-512MB of RAM
The other has ~6-8GB of RAM

That makes a huge difference to what you can actually do in a game design, and does a lot to make open world games work better.

I expect it to be broken on all 3 platforms anyways. Fallout has always been extremely glitchy. Part of it's appeal is in those ridiculous glitches. When sony announced the recording game footage feature I was so excited to eventually capture all the crazy stuff that happens out in the wasteland (flying deathclaws can now be properly documented)

There's nothing next-gen about the latest consoles.

They're using 2008-2010 hardware for god sake, they were 5 years old before they even came out.

Next Gen is things like DDR5 RAM, the latest core tech in CPUs, new GPU architecture.

DDR4 just released so how is DDR5 within possibility for X1 or PS4 2 years ago when they making these consoles ? The only reason why 360 and PS3 were so powerful when they launched was cause Nvidia and AMD weren't where they are today in the PC space. You clearly don't know what your talking about and console sales are up from last gen so no these consoles aren't ruining gameplay, graphics and resolution don't make games great. Story, characters, gameplay, content etc. is what makes games great. Not the best hardware on the market.

It is in game, but keep in mind that the screenshot only focus on one small house a few meters away. If you watch the trailer you will see that the stuff around the house is not all rendered with the same detail. Draw distance come to mind.

So you list 3 games that could be ending having promotional deals on PS4 as an End of an Era for the Xbox brand? 

You do know MS has Halo and Tomb Raider to market in the Fall vs none for Sony, right? Also, don't forget there is a strong possibility that a huge AAA game like Fallout 4 could also be in the card at E3 for a Fall release and MS is focusing on that front instead. Most of MS marketing dollars are probably going to their cash cow Halo 5 (Halo always get a huge marketing campaign), so it is not surprising they are using their money wisely because no other Exclusive can have the affect like a Halo. Don't forget Madden, Fifa, powerful sports brand also have marketing deal tied up with MS.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, the boxart that isn't covered is always the 'main marketed' one, meaning MS paying for marketing rights. I doubt there will be anything other than timed-exclusive DLC though, same as FO3.

I like the concept, that isn't what I didn't like about the game, NV included because I've played both. What I didn't like was the story or the gameplay (story was a bit better in NV), I found the story completely uninteresting and the gameplay just clunky and plain bad.

If anything, your post doesn't make sense. Just because you don't like one game in a series don't mean that you can't look forward to the next one. I hated Dark Souls 2 but I'll be hyped as hell for Dark Souls 3 if Miyazaki is at the helm.

Anyone else think the character models and animation are more like 3rd quarter last gen than something we should be seeing today?

I just watched the trailer again and the characters looks like little dolls, keep an eye how the dog pivots and turns toward the end of the trailer, looked like how dogmeat got around.

I don't know; been 5 years and I was expecting something more. Between the atmospheric effects of Skyrim and Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight this month; Bethesda needs to push the envelope, instead of resting on one's laurels.

I am beyond excited, beyond, beyond, but i'm not blown away with the visuals, but on the other hand i am okay with the visuals. I didn't expect it to look like The Order or Uncharted 4 but if it looked similar to the Witcher 3 that would've been nice. Truthfully, these huge Bethesda games never look pretty and they never run well but the openness, content and setting make up for it ten fold, or at least 7 fold.

The previous 2 Fallout games had your character being entirely mute, he never spoke one audible word as far i as i can remember so to see the possibility that your character might actually speak has me more excited than a Deathclaw in a hen house.

I think a holiday 2016 release is likely and judging on how much they showed it could be sooner. I know ME4 will be prettier covered in that chillingly gorgeous frostbite engine, but let us hope that the Shepardless space odyssey is at least as far along as a Man and His Dog.
