Xbox One to Windows 10 streaming feels just like console gaming

I haven't had any issues to speak of with snap really, aside from when manually snapping instead of using my Kinect it still occasionally only registers as one button press in turn taking me to the dashboard instead of snapping. What issues are you having with it?. I enjoy snap, but it's not a huge deal for me. My usage of the snap feature is almost always when snapping achievements/Skype, and I will admit that I personally do love having the ability to snap achievements and track them in real time.

I just find it clunky and unresponsive for a good few seconds after snapping pretty much any app. As such I hardly use it at all, so perhaps the old dog recovered and became quite spritely?

Yeah the feature is laggy, but no doubt it'll increase in performance overtime. I use it occasionally when I really need it.

Not been impressed by the wii u so far to be honest, but partly cos it stopped working before I got to play much.

Do you even know what shareplay is? You can stream your game to a friend, pass the controller and let them try, or have someone that doesn't own the game play with you for onscreen coop games. Totally useless.

Yeah, that point makes me wonder whether the article is accurate. The Xbox won't output 900p natively, so is it actually streaming 900p or is it streaming the upscaled 1080p image? The latter seems more likely, but the way the article is written suggests the question wasn't asked. So it could be anything.

Looks good, I love bringing my wii u pad and vita to bed incase I want to play a couple games. The guy did say there was a little bit of lag, hopefully that gets taken care of before release. Does this work outside of your local network like vita?

I guess in theory you could set up a VPN and set it up to appear as part of your home network. Would require spending some money though.

I have a feeling the feature will make it's way to outside use as well. Remote access to a windows PC has been available since Win95, and it's too good a feature to overlook on MS part.

this is brilliant and can and will be better if they can figure out how to make it work both ways (pc to x1/ x1 to pc/ tablet to x1/ x1 to tablet/ pc to tablet/ you get the gist of what im saying) :)

microsoft is smart. i see the view of how to gauge these consoles shifting in a totally different direction. we use to compare with games, then it turned to power, and now it's looks like it will be based on features and peripherals. i looks like they've been studying apple (iphone/ipad) and google (android/tablet) extremely hard.

whatever they decide to do, i just hope they continue to give us compelling ways to be entertained. it looks like this thing is coming around in full circle as the x1 is being finalized. im ready what x1 really is in it's complete form :)

PC to X1 would be awesome. Would alleviate having to hook up my PC to the TV to play games on it, and since I don't care to do that, it does tend to cut down on my PC game time.

That being said, I don't think that will happen, because many people would opt to buy the cheaper PC versions of games. MS doesn't make money that way. Would love to be wrong on that though.

I was speaking of MS supporting it natively, and not through some workaround. I think it'd be great if they'd allow it for many reasons, but at the same time, from a business perspective, they just aren't likely to want to give up the licensing fees that they get from Xbox game sales. There is also the piracy concern, which can be significantly more than $10.

I can't argue that you want to play where you're friends play, and I know that sociability has a lot to do with people's purchasing decisions. But at the same time, chances are, if friends are buying consoles to play with one another, they could also be willing to also stream games in a similar way, all while ultimately being cheaper once the initial hardware purchase is done.

One big thing here is that while it's not an issue for the more technically minded, the idea that you can hook up your PC to a TV is still not common knowledge, and a lot of the old misconceptions still persist today. This isn't something that MS promotes heavily, and my guess would be it's because they don't really make money off games on Windows PC. If they did, they wouldn't have abandoned GFWL, and they would actually support Windows PC by releasing games for it instead of keeping them exclusive to their Xbox console.

I don't really want to get into the symantics of if PC can play a game better than an X1. I think that also gets into the misconceptions that tend to be going around. I know PC can be a bit more annoying at times, but overall, PC can play games better, and DX12 is definately going to improve that. A lot of those PC's you mention which you say can't play games well is going to see a pretty significant boost very soon.

Thing is, MS just doesn't make nearly as much money off the hardware as they do off the games and XBL subscriptions, and the more reasons they take away for people to spend that extra money on console convienance, the more reason people stop spending money on it. It doesn't take long for people to start abusing the system, this has been proven, and it doesnt take long before publishers shut it down regardless of how well it works for the consumers or MS.

I wasn't aware that MS was working on PC to X1 for games. If that's the case, then I stand corrected, and hope it's everything that it could be.

I don't know about turning it into a powerhouse, but I can see things running more smoothly. It's probably not going to make everthing look significantly better, but it won't be as choppy or completely unplayable...although I profess not to know the specs of your specific hardware.

I also hadn't considered cross-buy remote play one way or the other. That could certainly change a lot of what I said if it becomes routine.

Perhaps the television is being used by a spouse/significant other to watch Chicago Fire and you want to stream it to your laptop, or you want to game in bed when you're home sick from work and your Xbox is in your living room, or you have a roommate who is playing Pictionary with random co-workers in your living room and you don't want to be rude. Maybe your Xbox is in the bedroom, but you want to stream it to your laptop/HTPC so you can play with a friend, and it's not the kind of friend you want to lay in bed with you?

Just a few suggestions.

If I want to play my PS4 and other people in the house are using the TV I'm connected to, I go upstairs and remote play on my PC monitor using a PSTV-- that's the type of situation this is designed for.

the pc is middle man just like the Vita or PSTV or tablet. stop saying it like this Xbone streaming will work magically with any monitor.

and please check your fact before saying anything or you would sound like trolling. There is no content restrictions for Remote Play. all PS4 games and contents can be Remote Play.

I was skeptical about this kind of stuff when Sony started it with Remote play on the PS3/PSP. back then it didn't have a lot of support, and it was actually rather rare to get a game that was compatible. Since they made it almost completely mandatory across the board though, I find myself using it very frequently. Sometimes in bed instead of reading a book, at work on my lunch break, while sitting around in a line at the DMV(like yesterday), when I have to take my dad to the hospital and have nothing to do for several hours, etc.

While the feature is now limited to PC on the X1, I'm sure it'll move onto being available through the web.

Nintendo has a similar feature available on their WiiU controller, and it also comes in handy around the house from time to time.

It's one of those features that you don't think about using until you have it and find that there are plenty of times when you find it convenient.

why? you think he should just be satisfied with it and call it a day? the Xbone's direct competitor, the PS4 can do Remote Play since day 1 and now expanded the service to smartphones and tablets too. Remote Play also works with any network as long as it's fast enough and before you start calling it laggy or will not work or whatsoever, there are many evidence of Remote Play and Share Play done from across the globe. I don't blame him or anyone for that matter to expect MS to come out with something that at least just as good.

You're right though. Now that MSoft has achieved streaming to another windows-based computer or tablet, they're just gonna stop there.

Gimme a break dude. These are amazing times. I'm a huge fan of the direction MSoft is going and I'll continue to support them. That being said PS4 is an incredible machine and I wish I had one.

Not yet but they plan to add that. Nice feature to have. I don't use remote play to often due to the fact that it's on my phone. Works great but would be nice if Sony added an app for Windows so I can do this on pc. Microsoft did a good job with this one.
