Final Fantasy XV Target Build vs. PS4 Demo Comparison Shows How the Engine Scales to Consoles

GearNuke: "Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae demo provides an interesting insight on how Luminous Engine can work on the current generation consoles. Since we have seen most of the pre-release footage running on a devkit instead of an actual PS4, it should be no surprise to see some of the features and graphics being toned down to meet the deadline of the demo launch on the PS4 and Xbox One."

i hope the final Build will be like Target graphics

better texture and lighting ,more prominent

HammadTheBeast3338d ago

I'm just hoping for a solid lock on 30 fps and maybe a boost to 1080 p if they can.

skratchy3338d ago

Exactly, if they can get this to 1080P, I don't mind the lower frame rate. The demo looks kind of lackluster compared to some of the videos they started releasing a few months back. Not that I mind a whole lot; haven't been this stoked for a Final Fantasy game in a long time.

Cuzzo633338d ago

How about we hope for a good FF game instead of the resolution bull crap. If it was 720 y'all would still play it if it got perfect scores right?...
Probably not......
Well I'm happy we got a FF game to quench this thirst. Miss the Snes/PS1 days.

Erik73573338d ago (Edited 3338d ago )

What?
The reflections in the water where much better than target build
There where much more trees than in the target build
In a lot of pictures I see the rocks are much more detailed....aka the ones on the lake where very ugly looking in target build but in the demo there is moss and a lot more detail on them.

Only thing that looked better in the target build was the lighting and the grass and a little bit of the ground upclose.

spicelicka3338d ago

Man this game looks amazing. I wish there was a more realistic and epic way of taking down those huge beasts though, instead of just hacking at their feet. Shadow of Colossus would be a great example.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart3338d ago

I'm pretty sure that warping to larger monsters backs and different areas of their bodies will be possible in the final game. I remember Tabata talking about that.

Kurisu3338d ago

Let's hope so, because that section taking down the behemoth was epic! And then it was even more epic taking it down for real with you know who!

KingKelloggTheWH3338d ago

In Versus we were apparently able to climb on top of them.

mad-dog3338d ago

I hope they can reduce the insanely apparent jaggies in this game.
It's a shame.

pivotplease3338d ago

It is quite apparent that it started on PS3, but it also does look better than the XIII series despite being semi-open-world.

I am actually happy with the graphics and more concerned with the combat. I hope there's enough strategy involved and it would be nice if magic played a bigger role because it looks like mostly melee with the occasional spell. Even Kingdom Hearts for all its melee had some awesome combat variety with all of the spells, summons, drives, reaction commands, and guarding as deflection.

skratchy3338d ago

Yeah, it started on the PS3. It was FF Versus XIII a decade ago. Still, it looks incredibly more impressive since then, all jaggies aside.

mad-dog3333d ago

It looks good. Just too jaggie.

shay1593338d ago

This article is a little erroneous.
Firstly, the gameplay we have seen in trailers is not the final game's 'target'. It is the latest version of the Lunious Engine, 1.5. Tabata already addressed that the demo is running on an older build of the engine. It has not been downscaled, or trimmed, it's simply an older version of the game.
The Final release will be in Luminous 2.0, so it will actually be superior to the 'target' footage.

noob_zero3338d ago

At least SOMEBODY knows what theyre talking about

windblowsagain3338d ago

Not sure what the article is on about tbh.

The game looks more or less the same, just needs upping to 1080p.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled26d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog158d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake158d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic156d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan157d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman158d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator158d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno157d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior158d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake158d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
