Of course they couldn't stand idle with the possibility of EA getting fat off this dead genre.

Kane223347d ago

i don't think EA is the publisher anymore to rock band

Blaze9293347d ago

i thought we were past all this

NarooN3347d ago (Edited 3347d ago )

Harmonix > every other rhythm game dev (although I still love DDR...)

Timesplitter143347d ago (Edited 3347d ago )

Guitars haven't been very relevant in modern music for years, seems like a weird decision.

I'm not saying I dislike guitars personally, but they don't seem to be popular right now

Wh15ky3347d ago (Edited 3347d ago )

What kind of modern music do you listen to?

There's alot of different popular genres about these days. Most of the modern stuff I listen to is still very guitar-centric.

Edit: @Below
Is that meant as a reply to me?

MetroidFREAK213347d ago

You're just listening to terrible music

Timesplitter143347d ago (Edited 3347d ago )

What are some examples of modern music in which guitar actually stands out? The only thing that comes to mind is metal but it's probably the worst genre ever created

Wh15ky3347d ago

I listen to the likes of Elbow, Arcade Fire, Muse, Alt-J, Gomez, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead (including their side projects) etc.

Mikeyy3347d ago

Yeah your theory holds water if all you listen to is RAP.

You'll grow out of it someday and realize what you've been missing.

We all go through that angsty rap phase...

Timesplitter143347d ago (Edited 3347d ago )

no, you got it all wrong. I listen mostly to guitar-centric music, but I acknowledge the fact that it isn't a popular thing right now. Most of the artists I listen to don't even do shows anymore, so that pretty much confirms my suspicion.

Sure, guitar is present in indie music, but it's really just a backing instrument. It doesn't really stand out and it wouldn't be pertinent in a Guitar Hero game

Mikeyy3347d ago

I still disagree. Country outsells everything.

trenso13347d ago

"We all go through that angsty rap phase"

How is listening to a genre of music a phase? If you're implying something about a genre of music, you should come out and say it. It sounds like you're beating around the bush to not sound politically incorrect.

dumahim3347d ago

"How is listening to a genre of music a phase?"

Because people's taste often changes over time.

Jackass how big are artic monkeys and as poo as the song is with Kanye and rihanna but whos playing the guitar paul McCartney get real bro.

Timesplitter143347d ago

Please take a moment to imagine what FourFiveSeconds would play like in Guitar Hero.

Highlife3347d ago

Then what do you listen to. Stop avoiding that question.

LightDiego3347d ago

You have a terrible taste in music. Let me guess, Skrillex best artist ever, right?

Khajiit863347d ago

Guitars are in almost every song you listen to believe it or not. Even rap. If they are made off of a computer those sounds they use, a lot of them are recordings of a guitar.

Dont know who John Frusciante is but the search on google shows him with a guitar.

Timesplitter143347d ago (Edited 3347d ago )

He's been the lead guitarist of Red Hot Chili Peppers during the 90's and early 2000's (he's responsible for Californication, Under the Bridge, Can't Stop, Scar tissue, etc...), but his solo work is much more impressive than what he did with RHCP

Is Guitar Hero Coming To The PS5 Or Xbox Series X?

It’s been nearly a decade since the release of the last Guitar Hero game. Is time running out for Guitar Hero, or are we closer than ever to the long-awaited reunion tour on the PS5 and Xbox Series X? As it turns out, we might soon see the return of a rock giant — at least, if modern gaming trends are to be trusted.

I miss those times with Rock Band, DJ Hero and all rhythm games.

BeHunted3d ago

Thank you for supporting Microsoft by purchasing Guitar Hero.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH4d ago

I just don’t see this being nearly as popular as it was back in the day. These kids are way too attached to phones and tablets to care about plastic guitars and drums. Would be cool if it did return but I just don’t see hype for it like the good old days of gaming.

DarXyde3d ago

Or....in the modern era, it could support real electric guitars and drum sets...?

I think we can do better than the buttons at this point

ThatArtGuy3d ago

Rocksmith does real guitar.

DarXyde3d ago

ThatArtGuy,

All the more reason to get with the program.

S2Killinit3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Hmmm maybe you are correct. Unfortunately. Also, there is the VR rhythm games already in the wide which are very popular. But back in those days we only had gutar hero.

Gaming4Life19814d ago

I would gladly buy a guitar hero collection or just guitar hero 2 again on series X or ps5.

neutralgamer19923d ago

Most likely answer is both platforms because why leave out 60-70 million platform gamers

Dandalandan1173d ago

Make it some kind of collection or greatest hits then I'm sold

Call of Duty killed Guitar Hero but the world is ready for its return

The Guitar Hero franchise died in the wake of Activision's lust for Call of Duty, but we should be dusting off those plastic guitars for a new Guitar Hero game.

Guitar Hero was good. The problem was Activision started creating many versions. Guitar Hero had the every one year cycle like COD and people felt they were being robbed.

myfathersbastard436d ago

It was even worse then that. My roommate and I were big into rock band. Had a concert sized sound system for it in the shop. Both rock band and guitar hero were doing a yearly release yeah, but then also doing song packs and band packs every other week almost at one point. AND releasing them on physical disc. Before we stopped we had litterely dozens of discs for different songs and bands. They just never stopped coming out. People can only handle buying so much for 1 game.

Ra3030436d ago

Why in the hell would one want to spend time to learn a button mashing order when you can lean to play a real guitar in the same time frame.
