"Turns out a lot of our cloud guys, some of our best cloud people, cut their teeth in Microsoft and Xbox Live, building Xbox Live, because there is nothing like having to build first person shooters, massively multiplayer games, getting the latency down… You know, when I pull the trigger I want the other guy to die instantaneously."

Massive Multiplayers with big worlds carrying tons of players using the cloud to hold everything together?

Hmm I sense MAG type of game in Microsoft's future.

NuggetsOfGod3449d ago

I hope so! I will be get my x1 in January or February.
That would be awsome. Phil did say we can expect announcements
Before next e3.

MS in the position they are in is actually a blessing for xbox gamers.
#1 never tries the hardest.
#2 dies the hardest.

I think Quantum Break may be the game that encourages me to add the xbone to my ps4, 360, ps3, and soon to be wii u console collection. I really hope the redesign xbone slim is available by then.

"We need killer gaming experiences....so instead of investing in first party studios we just going to buy already made games instead so future sequels or even initial installments can't go to the platform that people actually want it on."

qwerty6763449d ago

and this is why you'll never be a successful businessman.

also funny you never mentioned the 6 new first party studios they announced this year.

jb2273449d ago

I'm sorry but are all gamers supposed to be future "successful businessmen" Do we play games for their potential to give us the tools to create an empire, or do we play games for their creativity? Gamers are becoming more & more hip to these kinds of trends, so one day all of these "timed exclusive" deals will blow up in MS' face, that much is a given. In the next year or two, we have every possibility of having every single Xbox One "exclusive" available on Sony's platform, outside of Halo & Gears of War. All the rest are second parties, and we've already seen previous "exclusives" like Bioshock, Dead Rising & Mass Effect jump ship so history would say we will see the same thing this gen.

Unless you are a Microsoft shareholder, the moneyhatting trend should bother you as much as anyone else, because all of that money spent to keep games off of other platforms could instead be spent to create actual first party studios & ip's. As an Xbox gamer, you gain absolutely nothing from deals like these, but you lose a new potential title w/ every single one. As far as the 6 new studios you make reference to, I'll believe it when I see it. Do you have names for any of these studios other than Black Tusk? Do you know if these studios were created to actually make new games or for ports or os work? We know they "utilized" Rare to make avatars, so it's not like they don't have a history of letting good talent go to waste. Everyone will see in a couple years when Sony's games library effectively doubles by picking up a fair few of Microsoft's "exclusives" to bolster their own library of games that will never see release on any other platform.

@jb227,
Sony does timed exclusives also. They have had less capital to invest in securing them due to their financial problems they have been dealing with for the past 5 or so years. The last timed exclusive they secured was content/marketing for Destiny. As for Tomb Raider, Microsoft is a co-investor and co-publisher of the upcoming release. What you refer to as "money hatting" is actually called investing.

A troll with 5 bubbles and the truth with one, quicktim3, forget reasoning here, only one side is permitted to spew bollox....

700p3448d ago

I agree. Im a xbox supporter so instant 1 bubble

MasterCornholio3448d ago (Edited 3448d ago )

@Pog and 700P

Christolocus is a big Xbox fan and he has a lot more bubbles than me. Death has more than 5 bubbles as well and everyone knows he's a big Xbox supporter.

The only people with one bubble are those that constantly troll the comment section.

People like KNWS, Lifeisgameok, 700P, Pogmathoin, Ripstarasta, PS4@XB1.

And many of those trolls will get banned if they continue to misbehave here. Trolls like Mariahelfutura, Castillo, Truefan1, Gameon1985, Waseem, TheKyle are examples of them.

I was close to losing all my bubbles but I'll share some advice with you so you can get them back. Basically all you have to do is be respectful, dont flood the comment sections with BS and stay away from attacking other posters.

@summons

You mean like these 1st party studios?

http://www.thesixthaxis.com...

“Microsoft seem to be setting up several new first party studios, which is a great sign.
Leap Experience Pioneers (LXP) were discovered a
few months back, but now their website reveals more
of their sister studios, with job application links.
Those studios are SOTA (State of the Art),
[FUN]ction Studios, Good Science, NP, and Platform
Next.
Naturally, there’s no word on what they’re working on
but LXP are “looking for an experienced creative
individual who can help us bring Microsoft’s next big IP
to life” according to their job listing. That could be
quite exciting.”

Try to stop being so biased. MS can do what they like cos they actually have the financial strength to open up new studios while funding new/ exclusive ips from either 1st ,2nd or 3rd party studios and also they can aquire existing studios if they feel the need to and lastly it was nintendo who sold rare to MS and the creators of Minecraft were the ones who came to MS about the sale of Mojang&the Minecraft ip. Do your homework.

sonic9893449d ago

Right now those studios have no name I mean quality wise, they could be small they could be bad they could just create shooters or downloadable games only or even worse kinect games.
It also depends on how much money microsoft are welling to invest on xbox looking at the company's financial situation and the hardware they manufactured I would say not much.
I hope they succeed and prove me wrong and make me happy to own one of their future systems because I am gonna test them this whole gen to see their stability throughout the generation and the franchises they rely on please more diversity microsoft .

@Summons,

You are just an example of why sites like Dualshockers and Gamingbolt continue to get articles approved at the speed of light. You are the bait to yet another clickbait headline, in this case it is "We need Killer Gaming Expereinces" so members that think like you (which are many in this site) will no doubt put out contraversial and tired argument and get the degree of the article up to the front page. It never fails.

Games are games and doesn't matter if they are made internally or externally, real gamers are glad Sunset Overdrive and Gears of War are available to play. The last thing we are concern with is "oh, is this an internal MS studio game?" ninja Gaiden, Knight of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Lost Oddessey, Gears of War, Splinter Cell Conviction, Dead Rising 3 and Sunset Overdrive are all external second or third party games and so what? Sony made a living on PS2 with securing third party exclusives like GTA3, Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider and many others as well..now since Sony is having money issue they can't really afford to do it much these days so I guess we have to blame it on evil MS and pretend securing time exclusives never existed in the past. Smh

killer gaming experiences for differentiation i like the sound of that. Microsoft really does deserve praise for how well they've turned things around.

sonic9893449d ago

I think a change from the realistic shooter or cinematic experiences will be very welcome.
I heard that they have opened new first party studio I hope they are quality because right they are no name studios lets see what will happen.
Sony has more experience than microsoft in this game nintendo too so its not gonna be easy.

ScorpiusX3449d ago

So will the checkbook come out for buying timed exclusives or permanent exclusives , me i personally prefer buying permanent exclusives and funding new In house IPs.

3448d ago
maniacmayhem3448d ago

So you don't like to support third parties who worked equally as hard on a game that MS secured for Xbox One and their players?

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name47d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno47d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno47d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure47d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

Minecraft Bedrock Introduces Official Add-Ons To Marketplace

Minecraft Bedrock is introducing add-ons to the marketplace. The add-ons can now be added to many existing and new worlds.

Jin_Sakai68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Nice! Next up, shaders on consoles.

“A new update is improving how mods work for Minecraft Bedrock. Mojang has introduced add-ons to the marketplace.”

“These add-ons can now easily be added to new and existing worlds instead of being tied to a single world.
There are plenty of free and paid add-ons that will let you customize just about anything in your world.”

OtterX67d ago

So RayTracing is no longer locked to the NVIDIA maps? I know there was a workaround, but it will be nice to have easier access to all worlds.
