40 hours only !!! I hope thats the story missions because 40 hours is so goddamn short but then he says exploring things in the demo takes 3 to 4 hours and the demo is 1/40 of the game so that means the game will last us 120-160 hours and i hope its true .

idlet3516d ago

He said the approximation is time to "clear" the game, based on a player who isn't doing side exploration, and who is driving the majority of the time (rather than walking).
So yeah, it will have more playable time. =]

DarkOcelet3516d ago

I am not touching that awesome car . I love walking :) . The game seems to be a mix of kingdom hearts and Final Fantasy XII so thats really amazing . Lets hope we dont have to wait for too long now .

vishmarx3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

40 for story is perfect with enough extra content.
just like every good FF.
ff 12 took a bit too long 60-80 and was heavily criticized for it. i liked that tho but i can understand how its a flaw

mikeslemonade3516d ago

You guys must be new at games^. Every FF took about that time to complete.

blitz06233516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

40 hours is on par with most other FF games actually. It just depends on how long the cutscenes etc will be in this game.

UltraNova3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

Since when 40 hrs is considered short? Damn I thought 4-6 hrs campaigns were short... *weird look

DevilOgreFish3516d ago

40 hrs is fine for story. you know I'm not really a big fan of dlc, but if there is any coming out for this game i would definitely pick it up.

Mankey3516d ago

40 hours is def on the shorter side, but I think he was only talking about the story, not side missions.

Also hope he hears the fanbase feedback about the one button combat system.

DarkOcelet3516d ago

Kingdom hearts had a one button combat system and the game was excellent but then again after the demo's feedback . If its positive then it will be awesome . If its negative it might change since no release date is yet to be seen .

DragonKnight3515d ago

Apparently you can turn off the 1-button combat. I saw a user on here that said they read the game's legal patent and it claimed as much.

Pozzle3516d ago

He's probably just referring to the main story. It sounds like a reasonable length. Most FF games have taken me around 40-50 hours on my first playthrough because I go through the story first, then explore the side-quests during the second playthrough.

DarkOcelet3516d ago

I like to do a complete playthrough when it will comes to final fantasy . If i love it so much then i can go through it a second and third time again . But thats just me.

Irishguy953516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

Must be joking, all FF games have been roughly that length. Unless you are slow at them. Most games aren't that length these days even most RPGs aren't that length. 40 is not short regardless of if he means 40 total or 40 story. I mean *** the last of us is widely proclaimed best game of all time and it lasts 18 hours roughly. Just because a game is an RPG doesn't mean it has to be 100 hours+

I don't understand people these days, 40 hours is a LONG game and always has been. Games like Skyrim are exceptionally long. The most i've put into an FF playthrough is 50 hours and thats doing majority of side quests.

The standard playthrough time for games for the last 10 years has been 6-12 hours on average. Complaining about 40 is ridiculous to me.

Mass effect series, Witcher series, Dragon age, Kotor, I could go on. They take 25-40 hours. They are 'long games' but todays standards and FF has always been about 40

Magicite3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

I dont remember a single mainline FF game, You can 100% in less than 100hours (unless you rush it).
40hours for main story only, is a decent time.
For example star ocean 3 and 4 had ~40h stry time, yet 100% completion took hundreds of hours.

P.S. Yeah, Tabata confirmed, that 40 hours are without full world's exploration *relief*.

trenso13516d ago

40 hours without doing anything but the story clearly if you take the time to do side stuff and grind you can easily get another 40 hours out it

Jubez1873516d ago

Um what FF game has ever been more than 25 hours lol

Ratty3515d ago

If you only count main questline and not much else, yeah. Pretty much around 25 give or take 5.

killacal133516d ago

I can bet it will be about 60-70 hours long depending on playstyle, if you take your time you'll get the most out of the game, any game you play in rush mode will feel short.

KingKelloggTheWH3516d ago

That better be 40 hours for main story, man Tabata ...Just stop talking, you are digging this game an early grave.

hkgamer3516d ago

but he did jokingly say that adamantoise would take 30 ingame days (15 hrs) to beat.

40 hrs for a 50-60% complete is fine. anything after that would be stat maxing which takes probably double or trieble the time.

i must have spent 200+ hrs on ffxii on one playthrough that i have not statmaxed yet. probably only 50%completed.though i am trying to collect 99x of every weapon including super rare.

KingKelloggTheWH3516d ago

Why would you want 99 of those weapons XD?

hkgamer3516d ago

no reason at all. i just got addicted to glitching the treasure chest to give me 100% chance of giving me the rarest loot. the biggest problem was just getting the trasure chest to actually spawn though.

was just something funny to glitch at that time. had to constantly hit my own character until i see a recognisable pattern and then open the loot to get item.

actually ffxii glitches are super fun and breaking the game within the first 5-10 hrs was more enjoyable then playing game.

fyi, i am nowhere near getting every weapon or armour piece 99x. would probably take 5000+ hrs for me to accomplish this.

killacal133516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

hkgamer said he likes collecting loot, I don't see a problem with that, I'm like that myself, a lot of jrpg and rpg fans are like that too, so that will add to his hours logged in to the game sir, plus Tabata said that it is 40 hours for story content and driving everywhere, no walking or extensively exploring areas.

KingKelloggTheWH3515d ago

Oh, thank you for the clarification!

Squall_233516d ago

40 hours - main story that for sure, or lightning returns is much longer ?! LOL .. the length of the story is amazing + exploration could take 60 before the final boss like the old FF. NOT LIKE XIII everybody that i know finish it in 34 hours

Paprika3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

40 is perfect. I'm the type to take it slow, absorb the scenery... maybe the music. Full side quests etc. I hope for a solid 70-100 hour play through. I got ff13's platinum in 70 hours, and ff12 was w 40 hour game with 60hours extra easily.

Good news! Hope its 40 hours of great story though.

By him saying 40 hours, it means 30-60 depending on play style!

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled25d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog157d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake157d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic156d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan157d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman157d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator157d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno157d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior157d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake157d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
