Owning an Xbox One doesn’t make you a “real gamer”

well said. I play games from any console. My favorite story from any game was Killzone trillogy, but I play mostly 360. Games are games, and opinions are opinions. If you dont like doritos, your not a terrible person, or wrong, because i do. Eventually MS will drop out of the console race (as much as i love xbox its true) and go to PC. People wont argue about games because of excluisves one day, but because they want to change a games development.

I think it depends on the context. If someone is saying a game sucks because their agenda is to put down a platform they dislike then it could be considered fanboyism, the same way that the people who attack them are fanboys themselves.

If it is simply an observation based on personal opinion that someone prefers one game to another, regardless of the platform on which that game resides, then shame on the fanboys that attack them on that basis.

How can this author cite an article that he didn't even read. The only time ps4 was mentioned in the article was in the following sentence. "The new console war has barely begun. The Author presents a good message, but the fact remains he wrote an article on a false premise. He should have titled his piece "What is a True Gamer" or something like that.

Nevermind the author points to details from the attached article. Therefore he just isn't a very smart person if what he got from the article was an Xb1 vs. ps4 debate, over trying to convince 360 owners to upgrade to XB1.

I cannot imagine going through these gens just owning 1 system per gen. I just see these systems as a plastic boxes that play my games.I barely used my Wii last gen, but if I never owned that system I would've missed out on Super Mario Galaxy which is one of the best games of the last 20 years. I think if someone really likes games, and this is a real hobby of yours, then owning all systems is a no brainer. I'm not saying spend 1500 dollars on game systems alone, but going an entire gen not experiencing an entire library of games is stupid. I bought my PS3 after owning a 360 and wii all of last gen 3 years ago and I've had a blast ever since.

Good read, console monogamy is stupid I honestly recommend if you can afford it you can get all major consoles. They each bring there own exclusives and features. These articles are immature.. For one, I don't own an Xbox One I own a PS4. I probably won't own an Xbox One just because I don't really need one. But to say by owning an Xbox One doesn't make you a real gamer is ridiculous.. I understood Microsofts focus when they introduced the Xbox One and they did a complete 180 to focus more on core gamers and this bickering back and forth is just tiring.. I went through that since 2005 when they introduced the PS3/360, and its just tiring.. I love games I been playing since I was a kid me being 23, played nintendo consoles, sega consoles, sony and microsoft consoles. If some one buys the Xbox One for its games I would say they are a gamer, it might not be my console of choice since I lean toward Sony's exclusive and their support toward the fan base .. but it doesn't make a difference to me if you have one or not. What happen to the game news articles a 12 year old kid could make better articles than this.

Agreed, I have too many console and not enough time to play them all. Last summer i was out of work for 6 weeks because of a surgery and i gamed so much my fingers hurt.

I still have my old console. NEs, Snes, Genesis, Gamegear, intelivsion , N64 , Xbox ps2. and the more modern one Xbox 360 , Ps3 , ps4 , vita ,
my next purchase is a xbo when the time is right or if i can land a deal somewhere.
As of now i have my hands full.

For me.....there are "real" gamers. I classifiy them as individuals, who play many genres of games, regardless the platform. Furthermore, they complete their games, follow blogs, articles, review shows, and conventions.

Not hating on casual gamers at all. Hell... im a casual when it comes to the world cup, baseball all star and playoff games, and wrestle mania. Its all good...especially for MS, who are straight raping people with xbox live & dlc fees! Lol.. I just go where the games that I'm interested in are. I dont care if the system is made by Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo as long as it satisfies my need as a gamer then I will buy it. This gen the PS4 offers me the exclusives that I'm interested in plus the best version of multiplats on consoles which is why I got one. My next system will be a Wii U once Nintendo drops the price a little. I'll probably not get an Xbox One because to me its almost the same thing as the PS4 but weaker.

Well I hate all the monikers, but I would consider myself a gamer. I could care less what being a 'real gamer' is defined as. I game every day and on whichever platform has the game I want at the time.

Currently my ps3 and 360 are collecting dust because I have been gaming on my PC. (You can blame that on the steam sale lol)

I have yet to jump into the next gen because I want games I care about playing. That makes me no less or more of a gamer than anyone else.

I plan on getting into next gen around Destiny's launch, most likely an X1 so I can grab Forza H2 and Halo MCC, and then get a PS4 before Uncharted 4 drops. I'm also excited for Far Cy 4, Rainbow Six Siege, and The Division.

When it boils down to it, what I like and want matters to me, not some petty arguments over being a 'real gamer' or a fanboy of any particular platform.

In my opinion buying a a Wii U is just a waste of money since Nintendo gives a damn about releasing games more constantly and also they don't care about their Fans, for the xbone is just a poorly design console it doesn't offer new hights in gaming like the PS4, cause the xbone it can't!!, and that thanks to its inferior hardware, putting 8 GB DDR3 on the xbone was the worst, if they where going to use DDR3 they should put in at least 16 GB of DDR3 that would compensate all of its low frequencys. PS4 totally nailed with the GDDR5 still they are on the learning curve to use this GPU based RAM and still they are able to pull out awesome results on the first year, and now with U4 looking like that confirming it was realtime, holy freaking hell!!!!!!!
