Phantasy Star Nova’s Super-Detailed (and Arguably Sexy) Character Creation Showcased in New Video

While it's still not known whether the PS Vita exclusive JRPG Phantasy Star Nova will ever be localized for the west (and the chances might be slim from what Sega mentioned in the past), during the Phantasy Star Thanksgiving 2014 event held today in Tokyo an extensive video of the game’s character creation was showcased, giving a detailed look on the options.

Impossible! VITA has no gaems obviously. >_>

King-u-mad3622d ago

lol keep hoping. It will not happen. SEGA is a lame company that has trouble localizing its Phantasy Star Titles. PSO2 still has no western release date. This article is pointless for Western Audiences unless you plan on purchasing the JP version.

user56695103621d ago

I wouldn't say they're a lame company. Sega just isn't the power house it use to be. Most like they afraid to risk it especially since its a f2p mmo

Whxian3622d ago (Edited 3622d ago )

im not sure ur gonna get any replies to that kind of discussion on this exact post, but as to this game specifically, im not sure if sega will bring it over, seeing as we are still waiting for the mmo for pc and/or vita.
wouldnt hurt to hope but still

Ratty3622d ago (Edited 3622d ago )

It looks good. I might decide to import it one day.

Also, the Vita does have games and good ones too. Just not good enough to make me want one badly. I want one. I'm just not in any hurry to get one.

CrimsonAzure3622d ago

SEGA already said they had no plans to localize it. The character creator is the same as in PSO2, you can import that and play it on your American account.. although it's hard to navigate if you don't read even a little or have a guide.

tubers3622d ago (Edited 3622d ago )

Is that what they really said?

"There are currently no plans to release Phantasy Star Nova in the western market. Should this change, we will ensure the information is shared as soon as possible."

http://forums.sega.com/show...

Doesn't sound too hopeless.

Unlike PSO2, this doesn't seem to require nationwide servers nor dependent on staying alive with micro-transaction.

VITA probably has a decent chance for localization of such a game.

We'll see. (E3/GC 2015)

gamer78043622d ago

I hope it gets localized too

JackOfAllBlades3622d ago

I wish all games were localized worldwide

No problem for me getting a japanese version.

10 PlayStation Vita Software Missed Opportunities

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Many would argue – and I wouldn’t really disagree – that the PlayStation Vita never really had a killer app. There wasn’t that one piece of software that helped change the console’s fortunes. The closest we got was arguably Persona 4 Golden, an early release that received huge critical acclaim, but it was part of a niche series and as such its sales impact from a hardware perspective was muted.

There were missed opportunities along the way, as certain titles had the potential to change the Vita’s fortunes, but the way the final product was delivered (if indeed it was delivered at all) left a lot to be desired and so they didn’t reach their full potential. It’s these games I’m aiming to look at this in this article – 10 games that were missed opportunities on Vita. I’m not saying that every release I’ll be talking out here had the potential to be a “killer app”, but if they had been executed a little better they would have undoubtedly been a key factor in helping the console reach a wider audience."

Still thinking about the that last of us 2 multiplayer missed opportunity

isarai1690d ago

My soul still aches over the idea of making 3D Dot Game Heroes a Vita series never happening after the dev studio expressed interest in doing so. Could've been a flagship for it, or at least carried it a bit further.

Abcdefeg1690d ago

The vita contributed to the ps3 having less support from Japanese devs. I hope sony keep focusing on one console at time like they are now in the future

What do you need to know about Phantasy Star?

Man, Phantasy Star can be confusing. There are so many different kinds of games in this series, but they all get tossed under the same umbrella. The oldest games are turn-based RPGs. The newer ones vary between MMOs and action-RPGs. Wouldn’t it be nice if things were simplified...

Phantasy Star online episode 1 and 2 is one my all time favorites. Just make that better...

ApocalypseShadow2367d ago

What I need to know is when is Sega going to make and release Phantasy Star 5. All I need to know.

SegaGamer2367d ago

Even if they did, then i doubt it would be released outside of Asia. We haven't had a Phantasy Star game since Phantasy Star Portable 2, and that was 7 years ago !

I don't know why, but Sega seem's to have abandoned the west when it comes to Phantasy Star.

ApocalypseShadow2366d ago (Edited 2366d ago )

Pretty much. You would think that sequels to some of their franchises or remasters of games like Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Headhunter, Virtual On online, Jet Set Radio, etc would make them some easy cash as digital titles. Even VR titles of Virtual Cop, HofTD or even something crazy like Crazy Taxi VR. Nope. The Sega I knew just isn't there.

Maybe Sammy has them on a tight leash and just uses their assets for Pachinko games like Konami does. It's a shame being a Sega game fan but no Sega games to look forward to.

fenome2366d ago

Seriously though! When I first saw this I thought I missed an announcement or something. I thought it was to prep people up for the next game. Damn

Azurite2366d ago

"Phantasy Star Online 2 (GameCube, 2012)"
May want to change that to (PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, Android, PC and iOS, 2012)

Nybz2365d ago

I need to know when the fuck SEGA is gonna wake up and make a full on PSO 3 with the unreal 4 engine or some shit so I can get lost in the best god damn futuristic world with my pet mag as their god-tier PSO themed music blasts my ear drums forever and ever.

Wake the hell up SEGA, the time is NOW!

You mean only in Japan.

Along with Sega, complete cock tease.

Stop with updating us on a game that will never go stateside.

100% agree. I think I will avoid explosion now. They seem to not understand us.
