Dam impressive :)

And i notice the music is a cover of theme song from casper movie :)

Gazondaily3700d ago

Looks nice but it remains to be seen whether in-game applications will be this intricate.

Also...where are my realistic liquid physics?!

papashango3700d ago (Edited 3700d ago )

physics was nice and all back in 07-08

nowadays I'd just take optimized hit detection and fluid gameplay. pretty much the fundamentals that developers nowadays don't put much thought into anymore.

GutZ313700d ago

I noticed collision at high velocity doesn't seem to be working well.
The hummers didn't take out all the particles as they entered, but only when exited at slower speeds, in some cases.
Tech is nice, but shows work is still needed.

I dig the physics, but I don't like the pieces all being the same size and shape. I still think Nvidia's APEX DESTRUCTION demo is still the best physic sim I've seen thus far. If I were a dev making and War type game such as Battlefield, COD or MOH, or a Titanfall, I'd would use this middleware physics engine for ingame destruction.

where can i get this program :D

DoomeDx3700d ago

Its cryengine dude. You can download the free SDK

STICKzophrenic3700d ago

Pause it at :28. The vehicle clipped through the orange wall, and a lot of it was left undisturbed until it bounced.

john23700d ago

Yeap, there are minor issues here and there. Also notice at the end of the video that the broken model is floating in the air (my guess is that 'gravity' settings were not applied to it)

STICKzophrenic3700d ago

Yeah, the particles seemed rather floaty as well, didn't have much weight. Regardless of the minor issues, it's pretty impressive.

Ritsujun3700d ago

Get your physics straight, Cryingtek.

When he shoots, is that not what Snowdrop has? Just a bit different. I think Snowdrop has different surfaces that react differently.

Are_The_MaDNess3700d ago

most of the most used engines like Cryengine, Unreal engine and even Source support this aswell. this is nothing new to gaming.

tho there is much less games that actually use it till now since the consoles didnt have enough power to use it till now.

Geoff9003700d ago

CryEngine tends to do it's calculations on the actual client PC, each block you are seeing is being calculated in real-time.

The Mass, speed, change the dynamics of what you see as a result of these calculations.

Although Snowdrop does have some level of Physics it's mostly place holder, basically they have done the physics on a server farm recorded a few variations on put it into the game. Think of it like BF3-4 whereby the destruction is always the same, no matter how you shoot the various buildings/objects etc.

ion533700d ago

Thank you very much for clearing that up.

Trippy, especially the part where the tanks were hovering around to the tune of the soothing piano music.

Hunt: Showdown is getting one of the rarest things a game can get: an engine upgrade

"It is gonna be a long technical road" to update Hunt's version of CryEngine.

MadLad445d ago

Great game.
Smaller, but healthy, player base. At least on PC. Very tense game.

bunt-custardly445d ago

If anyone can upgrade the engine then Crytek can. Good news anyway. Hunt looks pretty awesome anyway, but with UE5 a thing now Cryengine beginning to look dated perhaps?

Eonjay444d ago

It was bound to happen. Let's hope that they can update their engine. As good as UE5 looks, we need multiple engines out there. This will prevent all games from looking too samey.

Looking at DF the last three Graphics of the year have been:

Insomniac engine
Red Engine
Decima Engine

I love seeing different engines flex their muscles.

Concertoine444d ago

I do too, but having a dependable and common engine would go a long way toward fixing development cost and time.

It's Cryengine free you say? Great news, sick of all that cryengine in my dinosaur games.

windblowsagain1706d ago

What Dinosaur games.

I cannot for the life of me understand why there are no Dinosaur games anymore. Not building a Jurassic world type thing. But edge of your seat as scared as fuk fps or tps game. With todays graphics and quality would have been awesome.

Just hope something is made for PS5 etc.

Kosic1706d ago

I'd love a remake of Dino crisis 1 and 2!
