PS3 will dominate, when games like MGS4, GT5, FFXIII, KZ2, LBP and etc will come.

i have to disagree with you.first i agree that the ps3 will win this war but want run away with it.sony hold on the video game market is falling.the 360 has a bigger share then they had before and it is still increasing and nintendos' has a bigger share of the market then they had before so the ps is loosing shares not gaining so in the long run it's bad for sony.
i'll will also admit that the ps2 sold 125 million units but 125 million people doesn't have one like you claimed.you must have forgot that when the ps2 first came out it had a high defect rate,it wasn't in the 30 range like the 360 but it was around 27%.it had a defected hard drive in the first ps2 and sometimes you could have a new ps2 and put a new game in it and it would read can't read disc.sony denied it at first but later said that it had a bad drive and they were working on it but not till a class action suit was being filed on them.i know that they have a lot of people owning the ps2 but don't forget that the people that had to buy a new one after the first one they had went out because of the defected drive(sony didn't give it's customers more warrinty because of it as a mater of fact sony didn't do anything for us)hell i had to buy five of then in less then 2 years and i know some people that had the same problem,i also know some people that have one in each of their kids room.so to say that 125 million people have one just because they sold that many isn't true.i bet that they have arond 60 to 70 million people that bought the ps2 because i'm giveing 2 as as average to each customer that had to buy more then 1 and to the people that wanted to buy more then one.
i like to get one thing straight here.i said this before and a few people said that i was lieing and the ps2 never had a problem and they never had to buy a new one.well i'm glad for them but it's a fact,sony did have problems with the ps2 when it first came out.when i said that around 27% of ps2 owners had to buy 1 or more because it went out on them is the truth.i don't mean that every one had a problem with the ps2 only around 27 out of a 100,just like the 360,not every one had a problem with the 360 only around 33 out of a 100 did,hell i never had 1 problem with mine yet and i had it since launce.hell i'll even admit that the ps3 is the most dependable console ever made,the few people that had a problem with them is to few to even mention.
you also claimed that the ps3 have beter games then the 360,well i'll agree to a certain point,both systems have games on them that damn good not just the ps3.hell in the first 24 or 48HRs gta4 sold for 500 million and that's for 2 systems and it sold more on the 360 then the ps3 and the second best game of all time in the first 24 or 48hrs was halo3,it made 300 million and it was only on one system and that is the 360.
i've read a lot of article from people saying that the 360 is the greatest or the ps3 is the greatest and they are both wrong.they both have things good and bad on them,even unbias game developers said that the 360 does somethings better then the ps3 and the ps3 does somethings better then the 360.i'm tired of hearing how the ps3 have the best games on it or the 360 have the best games on it because it isn't true.they both have good games on them and both had some disappointing games on them.the ps3 had that game about the dragons that wasn't worth a sh*t(i forgot the name)and the 360 had pd0 on it that was crap.
if sony doesn't release another ps in 5 or 6 years after the release of the ps3 it might just put a nail in sonys' coffin.don't forget that people like to buy the new electronic products that comes out.in about another 2 to 3 years microsoft will release the new xbox and it will be a lot more powerful then the ps3 and it will sell like crazy because it will be the only new console on the market for a few years and it will only help the xbox to take over a bigger share of the video game market then they have already.this is why i said that sony will release a new ps before 10 years.
some ps3 fans said that even if a new xbox is released in 2 to 3 years ,the ps3 will still be the most powerful system on the market,well that's not true.today their isn't one electronic product that isn't outdated in 2 years and when a new one comes out it sells.i bet that as of right now sony and microsoft both have tecnology that they could make a new video games system that's more powerful then the ps3 and 360.

Both consoles offer the same awesome experience, but at the same time they both have unique advantages...and disadvantages.

I personally prefer the Xbox 360, but I am a gamer and I see it as inevitable that I eventually pick up a PS3. I think the 360 is the better console, but the PS3 is catching up fast and like the author said PSN has no where to go but up.

And IMHO that is HUGE flexibility sorely lacking on the 360. I am rather ticked that I cant use my Logitech G25 to play PGR4 and Forza 2 with. The wheel available for the 360 is garbage compared to the G25. I know because I have that one as well.

Everything has to go through MS certification (proprietary crap) in order to work on the 360. In other words MS wants their $$$$$. They nickel and dime you to death! They even charge to change your gamertag and most gaming themes have a price tag as well! Then they have the nerve to make silver account users have to wait to download demos. WOW!

PS3 is the only true next-gen system the Wii and 360 shouldn't even be considered next-gen consoles. First off the Wii and 360 still use an old format called DVD which only holds 4.7 gbs of data or 9gb on dual layer disc, the PS3 uses Blu-ray which holds 25gb of data or 50gb on dual layer disc. The Wii has no hdmi port which is necessary for the future while the 360 has an hdmi port 1.2 and the PS3 has an hdmi port that supports 1.3a. The differences first off 1.2 supports 16.7 million colors while 1.3a supports over 1 billion colors. 1.2 cant use Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master Audio and it cant support 7.1 surround sound, while on the other hand hdmi 1.3a supports all that plus more. hdmi 1.2 can only support 1920x1080p60fps maxed out while 1.3a supports 2560x1600p60fps maxed out. An added bonus about 1.3a also supports x.y.Color and Deep Color which 1.2 dosent. 1.3a also has a way higher transfer rate and bit rate compared to 1.2. Also the 360 has 3 core processors which is old news considering Intel makes Quad Core Processors while the PS3 has the revoluntionary Cell processor which has 8 and the Wii has a weak processor we dont even nedd to talk about.You cant even upgrade the 360 HD unless u pay for an overpriced 120 piece of crap HD on th PS3 u can upgrade your HD limitleesly. The 360 or the Wii doesnt even have an HD movie playback drive the PS3 does. The PS3 is built stronger than both the Wii and 360 it can handle more heat and cold and still not break down. Also the PS3 firmware constantly upgrades the system and by far has the most multimedia compatibilities compared to the Wii and 360. The RSX GPU can handle DirectX 10 level details and graphics the 360 GPU can't. The PS3 is truly the only system worthy of being called next gen and is the most future proof console that ever existed.

Good thing the heat issues were resolved almost a year ago. And, everyone gets a free repair if they have any problem.

So, as a customer, I'm much happier knowing that MS will take care of me if I ever have a problem with my Xbox 360 (I havent).

Also, as a customer, I am unhappy that Sony did nothing to help me when I had 3 PS2s fail.

I didnt get a free repair. I got "It must be over heating because your dont have it ventilated. No the dvd drives dont have a problem. You must have moved it while playing. We can fix it if you pay for postage and repairs. No it doesnt matter that the console has only been released for 4 months. No its not covered by warranty".

Where as with Sonys customer support I got, "It might not be a problem with the console but send it in anyway. No it wont cost you anything and the turn around time is about 4-5 days."

Take a wild wild guess which one i sold on ebay for AU$100. When they cost about 500. So dont bring your fanboy crap into the gamer zone saying ms do right by their customers cos its a load of crap and it gives me the absolute S**TS because i also had about 10 games, all of which i ended up selling for about 1/4 of what i paid for them. Oh and the 9 months of Live membership id paid for that i couldnt use. So F*** MS and their dodgy peice of crap hardware. You can have more fun just flushing the money down the f***ing drain.

Weel apart from the constant lock ups, the no standard HDD and dvd format hindering games (its undeniable. Dont even try.)I have no complaints.

And to be honest 99% of gamers dont care about the non standard HDD and dvd drive thing.

Ive said it a million times, I loved my 360. It was great. Until the thing broke and MS refused to fix it. And now i dont trust them enough to buy another so yeah. If you dont mind the reliabilty problems and you can trust MS not to just fleece you of a few hundred dollars, jump in. I personally liked the new controller, the os interface, all that. I actually wish someone would make a 3rd party ps3 controller that is shaped like the 360 one. Oh and everyone having a headset on live is good too.

But yeah, all the positives are useless when the thing wont play games.

I honestly love both of my consoles. I like the way Sony conducts buisness and treats their consumers MUCH MUCH more. I hate Microsft points and paying for a gamerscore and unified friends list. I woudn't mind, but paying 200$ for 4 years to play games, is just way too much and will never become mainstream. I can afford very easily... Microsft are penny pinchers. Everything on the 360 is overpriced. At the same time, Sony needs to deliever on their online plans this year. I hear there is alot to come.

Overall I prefer Playstation in almost all ways... I still liek Gears of War and Halo though. I think Bioshock will be announced to be coming to PS3 next month in PSM..but its a cool game too. But I REALLLYYY love Metal Gear Solid. MNy absolute favotire series. I also like Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo and Resistnace was a really great FPS for a port. I like all Insomniac games.

Banjo 3 should be cool this year. I think people are seriously underestimating the chances LittleBigPlanet has to be GOTY. Killzone 2 looks like a monster. Dead Rising is one of the coolest IP's so far this generation. Uncharted is a really cool new IP. Ratchet and Clank is one of the best Platformers of all time. Fable will be an awesome RPG(Hopefully). Left 4 Dead is a sure hit.

I love Blu ray being built into my PS3. It's SUCH A HUGEEE bonus. PS Store has gotten much better and PSN is already feeling better so far this year. Even the browser got some cool updates. Socom: Confrontation will be one of the most competitive/fun online games this year. Resistance 2 is gonna pwn your mom...wait for Gameplay on June 13 on Gametrailers TV.

I like both of my consoles. And the truth is if you don't have both. You aren't playing all of the best games.

But besides Sony needing to deliever with Home, In-game XMB and trophies or achievements...PS3 is the better console. My got the RROD 2 times and while not that OMGGGG big of a deal, it does suck. Sony hardware is wayyyy better than Microsft hardware.

I really don't see how Xbox Live really makes the 360 better than the PS3 because Online gaming isn't everything. The game console itself makes a console better than the other, and the Playstation 3 is the better overall console because it offers many different types of Multimedia and Gaming all in one. Whenever I buy something, especially an electronic device, I like to buy something that I can get as many uses as possible and the PS3 offers literally everything.

The Playstation in my opinion offers more diverse and more established game franchises like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Rachet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Gran Turismo, SOCOM, God of War, and the list just goes on.

From what I've noticed lately about 360 games is that the campaign/story in the game is short as heck or is just lacking and the Online in the game is the only selling point for it. I'm more of a Single Player gamer myself and I could really care less about Online.

Even though I'm a Playstation gamer, I will admit that I think that the majority of Playstation gamers aren't really Online gamers, but that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

I'm too much of a Playstation gamer to buy a Xbox 360 or any other console other than a Sony console. I respect every console for it's strengths and weaknesses, but the PS3 and Sony offers me what I want in gaming.

The big difference that the PS3 has over the 360 is the Blu-Ray, more built in features, and better reliability. I don't care how many good games a console has, if it's not reliable then it's not worth buying.

Oh yea, and one more thing, Sony's exclusive games for the PS3 don't end up on the PC either. PC gamers are playing almost the same games that Xbox gamers or playing.

Anyway Xbox 360 is a cheap piece of garbage for those that could not wait for the next generation so by buying into the half next gen half not next gen Microsoft frankenmonster they helped gimping this generation by making multiplatform games under 7.5GB and giving a sigh of relief to those not wanting to actually make games that require effort and innovation as is the case in PS3.

The only downside to PS3 is that it is hard to develop for and expensive, but everything is changing as AAA multiplatform titles are increasingly getting better reviews on PS3 than on its lower quality counter-part, and it is getting more accessible to the masses. I do not doubt that PS3 will hit 299 in the holiday season and completely slaughters the competition.

If 2008 is gonna be a great year for PS3, 2009 is gonna be a horrible year for 360. Disc and HDD limitations, lack of value, lack of diversity in their games and japanese support, quality issues... it would be a good time to unveil PS3s true competition, the Xbox 720.

Well if you look at the past, good games always had limitations. The thing is, they were still good. The Wii is good in its' own ways, even with it's limitations. I have been playing Videogames for a very long time, I still remember my Atari 2600, hell I consider the greatest game of all time to be Chrono Trigger, and every console that I have owned has had their strengths and weaknesses.

Sony and Microsofts consoles are no different, personally I have issues with Microsoft not really so much the 360 itself( I actually really enjoyed Bioshock, MassEffect, Overlord, Gears, Fable, etc, but I used to be a big PC gamer and MS has done quite a bit of damage to PC gaming over the years while damaging their credibility with most PC gamers pretty badly in the process, if apple would get serious about gaming I really think they could give Microsoft a realy wake up call.I find some Microsofts business practices alittle on the shady side.

I am not saying that sony doesn't make some stupid choices(they have made many promises and not kept all of them) but for the most part they fix them, in my opinion the RROD should have never happened to begin with, and at the very least should have been fixed much sooner than it had been (if it really is at this point) I went through 9 360's and after my first one microsoft didn't care anymore, they kept asking why I didn't upgrade to the Elite which I felt had nothing to do with the situation at hand, I got fed up and told them what they could do with my new paperweight.

rrod is not just heat. It's a general hardware failure. This could be anything from the Xclamp, which was the original reason for 360 RROD in most cases, to a disk drive failure, to a mouse finding it's way into your 360 and dying on the motherboard.

The overall failure percent is at 17 last I heard. This is down from around a reported 30 percent of launch consoles, which are still included in that number. That means a new 360 should have a percent failure rate significantly less than 17, probably closer to 10 (conservative estimate).

Yes I have to admit that I am new to N4G(not to videogame forums though) and I do tend to prefer some of sonys exclusives compared to Microsofts but I am also completely willing to applaud many of the games that have come from the 360( I named a few in my previous post). As I stated before my issues are with the company more so than the system.

What I don't think people tend to consider though is how their attitudes about certian subjects can shine a negative light on something that we all love.At this point more and more people are looking for reasons to bash the videogame industry for being immature, violent, racist, pretty much whatever mud they can sling(it is politics afterall).

I remember when Nintendo was king of the mountian and Sega came out with their consoles,you had the Zealots for both of them aswell. The arguments were just as heated as they are now, both companies brought alot to the table, and it's Ironic now that even though the games,systems, and companies have changed, the arguments have always stayed very similar.

First off, the major difference between XBL and PSN is that XBL is P2P networked. P2P networking isn't very reliable, you're connection is only as good as whoever the host is. However, as long as there are people playing the game it will always be open - the servers never go down. It's also easier to implement features such as game invites and chats, etc.

Now PSN on the other hand features Dedicated servers. They are much more stable than P2P networks. Because they are dedicated, Sony has to build everything from the ground up (voice chats, game invites, etc.) This is why it is taking them longer to release HOME. And also, once the dev. takes the Server down you wont be able to play the game anymore unlike P2P.

Personally, because PSN has more reliable servers, they are coming out with Home which will rival XBL support, and its free, I think PSN has greater potential. Not to mention Sony is also a media conglomerate so once they release their video service it will outshine XBL's movie service.

And another thing is the myth that DVD reads faster than blu ray. DVD reads at a variable speed. The further it moves from the center of the disc the slower it reads. Blu-Ray reads at a constant speed. They pretty much even themselves out.

PS3 is the only true next-gen system the Wii and 360 shouldn't even be considered next-gen consoles. First off the Wii and 360 still use an old format called DVD which only holds 4.7 gbs of data or 9gb on dual layer disc, the PS3 uses Blu-ray which holds 25gb of data or 50gb on dual layer disc. The Wii has no hdmi port which is necessary for the future while the 360 has an hdmi port 1.2 and the PS3 has an hdmi port that supports 1.3a. The differences first off 1.2 supports 16.7 million colors while 1.3a supports over 1 billion colors. 1.2 cant use Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master Audio and it cant support 7.1 surround sound, while on the other hand hdmi 1.3a supports all that plus more. hdmi 1.2 can only support 1920x1080p60fps maxed out while 1.3a supports 2560x1600p60fps maxed out. An added bonus about 1.3a also supports x.y.Color and Deep Color which 1.2 dosent. 1.3a also has a way higher transfer rate and bit rate compared to 1.2. Also the 360 has 3 core processors which is old news considering Intel makes Quad Core Processors while the PS3 has the revoluntionary Cell processor which has 8 and the Wii has a weak processor we dont even nedd to talk about.You cant even upgrade the 360 HD unless u pay for an overpriced 120 piece of crap HD on th PS3 u can upgrade your HD limitleesly. The 360 or the Wii doesnt even have an HD movie playback drive the PS3 does. The PS3 is built stronger than both the Wii and 360 it can handle more heat and cold and still not break down. Also the PS3 firmware constantly upgrades the system and by far has the most multimedia compatibilities compared to the Wii and 360. The RSX GPU can handle DirectX 10 level details and graphics the 360 GPU can't. The PS3 is truly the only system worthy of being called next gen and is the most future proof console that ever existed.
First off lets get one thing clear 360 dosent have exclusives microsoft has exclusives on the 360. Every game that comes out on the 360 comes out on pc also. gears of war is on both platforms bioshock is on both mass effect is coming to pc and pretty soon halo 3 will be on pc. Playstation owners can play all your so called 360 exclusives on computer but u cant play playstation exclusives unless u buy a playstation that means no mgs4, kz2, rfom2,ff13, or gow3 on pc. I plan on picking up a PS3 when it is in the sub $200 price range and actually has some games worth playing. As far as "is the PS3 worth owning right now?" no...HELL no. The only exclusive PS3 titles I'd buy are Motorstorm, Resistance, and Warhawk and for each one of those there is a better title on the 360.

80+ exclusives so far for the PS3 since Launch and 90% of what the X360 has gotten in the last two years as ports (going one way or the other). Seems the PS3 is getting more exclusives and almost all of the X games.
