did you guys recieve and respond to the confirmation email? I can log into Konami site with my Konami ID but haven't recieved a confirmation email yet. Everytime I try to get the site to resend it times out.

i signed up last night on id.konami.net, but didn't get my confirmation email until this morning. and even when i clicked on the confirmation link in the email, i kept getting a timed-out error. after about ten tries i finally confirmed my GameID, but whenever i try to log in through the actual game i get an error message. this is the first time i've ever participated in a Beta or an online game, and i must say its troublesome enough to discourage me from doing either again if i'll have to go through the same hassel.

Edit: If you are not from the UK and some part of Europe, then you will have an error. The beta is currently only open to the UK and some part of Europe.

you have to preorder Metal Gear solid 4, and you get a beta code. You then enter the beta code, and it promote you to download the beta. You will not find the beta on the playstation store dude

Follow these steps to get an Id

* You need Firefox
* Goto Tools Add ons, Get Extensions
* Find the AutoFormer add on and install it and restart the browser
* goto https://id.konami.net and click register (Blue button on the left) - might take a while but keep trying
* Enter your date of birth and go to edit in Firefox menu and find AutoFormer, click Save all fields - this will now save you entering the DOB again if you need to come back to this stage
* click next
* Wait until the terms show before clicking next again
* fill out the entire form carefully, don't rush you have all the time in the world. Make sure you don't use capitals in username, and make sure game id password is all numbers. Make sure phone number and postcode have no spaces
* now before clicking next click edit again and AutoFormer>save all fields
* Click next, it'll probably fail due to time taken to complete the form. Don't worry
* Start again, this time your DOB should be auto inserted click next to terms, click next to form, click next to confirmation click next and you're done - SIMPLE!!!

my money is on the ID server being used to log gamers in to the game too and creating a huge bottleneck...

got a TIPS START MENU with a welcome to the MGO community message.

This isn't a Sony network game, it's Konami only. We dont pay anything yet get games that run on dedicated servers that host up to 40 player matches, I suffer less lag on PSN than I ever did on Live.

And unlike the Halo 3 Beta, you didn't have to pay $60 to get in (buying Crackdown). I know this sucks, but lets not forget who to blame here.

The halo 3 beta used crackdown to limit the number of people that got in while at the same time helping boost sales of an already good game. They didn't need to stress test because they don't have to have servers for anything other than stats.

This is a problem that is inherent to the way PSN works. P2P wouldn't/didn't have this problem. It'll be fine once they get enough servers to host everyone, but it'll b hard till they do, and it is a result of the way PSN is set up.

Shouldn't really affect the final product unless konami and sony are dumb.

P2P is crap compared to dedicated servers (warhawk/resistance).

The PSN gives the choice to the devs if they want to run dedicated servers they can, for the most part it's P2P like live.

The blame lies squarely with Konami, unnecessary registrations & underestimating the appeal of a free open beta.

in the first window you have to klick on the "next-button" really fast , then after the terms appear you have to be really fast again and klick on "apply". after a few tries you should get to the new page where you will be able o fill in your details (konami id, game id, password and so on...).

dont rush when you get to this point! fill out the forms BUT dont klick on "next"!

now you have to open a second browser tab. start the procedure from the beginning until you get to the page with the id details. when this page opens you have to immediatly switch back to the first tab (whith your details you filled in before) and klick "next"! you have to be super fast!

then in the next step you just klick "register". and thats it. you will get an email with your registration details. dont forget to finally activate your account with a klick on the link provided within the email.

Update to 3.5 I managed to get in (just can't start game) I have been recieving invalid game id and password to start with, then it took a little longer and I was get server errors and then eventually it's let me in.

Just to let people know I have set up a Konami ID but haven't recieved a confirmation email to reply to (time is running out too =/) but if you have signed up but haven't confirmed your address with the reply mail you CAN still get in.

Now, people cant start games, as the multiplayer servers have all melted down.

Im in the UK, it took 4 log in attempts. But the game still isnt live, you start game and it goes 'NU-UH' and boots you to the main menu. They basically are just treating us with an extra screen.

i get onto the start menu and it keeps saying exiting game, restart, im very determined to get on though. it took to long to get this far to just stop, i mean
-downloading the beta... step one takes say 20mins maybe 40ish
-installing the beta.... step two 5 mins
-downloading the update... step 3 takes5 hours plus
-finding out you need game Id then getting one- step4, 2 days
-connecting to the game- step 5 unable to do

i think it says it has to be a password of only numbers 0-9, once i tried a number password, it worked for me, so you might want to try that

I am pretty much not even going to bother with this beta anymore...This 'gamer ID' or whatever is 100% broken and retarded...while I more care about MGS4 than MGO anyway; if that gamer id junk isn't replaced with our standard PSN stuff for the shipped game...i'll never even play it...hopefully the way its handled right now is simply for marketing (forcing you to sign up for garbage spam from Konami in order to participate in the free beta)...and that the actual shipped product will use the PSN in a way that we are used to...

for now though, its official...japan sucks at online...
