Xbox 360 is still the #1 CONSOLE. Go Xbox!

good for the 3ds but what about the wii u? that's what we need to focus on right now. we don't need to focus on the cheapest console the 3ds of course the cheapest will sell the most.

Shnazzyone3932d ago

You can focus on it if you want but 3ds was in the same rut at this point in it's life cycle. So you could focus on it if you want. However, I wonder how much you'll want to focus on it when the HD nintendo games hardcore gamers have been asking for since wii's release start hitting the shelves.

Lovable3932d ago

Sony and MS are doomed after all...

illmatic3932d ago

Lets not forget, the Wii U is selling terribly right now.

Dan_scruggs3932d ago

Lets also not forget that not long ago the 3DS was also declared doomed by the gaming press. My how things have changed.

iamnsuperman3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

@Dan_scruggs

"My how things have changed."

Yes a huge price drop. I think both Sony and Nintendo were (are in Sony's case) by the fact people do not want to spend a lot on handheld consoles any more. The price drop has help the 3DS a lot. It is, also, exactly what Sony needs to do. Could you say the same thing if the 3DS didn't have that dramatic price drop?

@below That could also have an effect but the price drop to sales correlation is to hard to ignore. Nintendo sold twice as many 3DS in total in 3 months after the price drop than they did in the months from its launch. My opinion on how these handheld systems cannot be priced that high any more due to the rise of mobile gaming can be read here: http://n4g.com/user/blogpos...

MacDonagh3932d ago

@iamnsuperman It's not just the price drop that helped Nintendo. Sony also shot themselves in the foot with the conception of the Vita. The price, the lack of games, (which is still true now!) expensive proprietary memory cards have also helped the 3DS to curbstomp the PS Vita into dust.

Not to mention Nintendo released big hitters while the only game that I want on the Vita is Persona 4.

TongkatAli3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

MacDonagh the Vita has plenty of games. Its the memory card prices that are giving it a hard time.

Nintendo fanboys get real you delusional goombas here is proof, the PS1 and PS2 were cheaper then the N64 and Gamecube, did Mario Kart and Smash Bros help those systems destroy the PS1 and PS2 in sales, no.

Price point is the only way to win. Vita f up big time cause its a major hole in the wallet, technically speaking when you compare the Vita specs to the 3DS, the Vita destroys it in its own way.

With the rise of Americans being on food stamps, yeah, those people are going to buy a Vita /s.

For the most part every system that i have seen in gaming has had games, even the Dreamcast which died had games even the first X-box had good games stop with "no games" bs talk, go back to collecting bells in Animal Crossing.

Everybody doesn't have games except for you folks, lmao.

TwistedMetal3932d ago

yep that's actually the important thing right now. we need to focus on why the wii u is selling so bad. got to have priorities people.

MacDonagh3932d ago

@TongkatAli "MacDonagh the Vita has plenty of games. Its the memory card prices that are giving it a hard time."

The Vita does have plenty of games. Just not many good ones. The memory card prices also don't help one bit.

"Nintendo fanboys get real you delusional goombas here is proof, the PS1 and PS2 were cheaper then the N64 and Gamecube, did Mario Kart and Smash Bros help those systems destroy the PS1 and PS2 in sales, no."

N64- $199. PS1- $299.
Gamecube- $199. PS2- $299.

Either you have a faulty memory or you're deliberately misrepresenting the facts. Either way, it reflects poorly on you and you should do five minutes research before sprouting off utter drivel.

"technically speaking when you compare the Vita specs to the 3DS, the Vita destroys it in its own way."

Specs don't mean squat if there aren't many good games to take advantage of them.

"With the rise of Americans being on food stamps, yeah, those people are going to buy a Vita /s."

Yeah. It's happening all over. The 3DS is selling well though.

"For the most part every system that i have seen in gaming has had games, even the Dreamcast which died had games even the first X-box had good games stop with "no games" bs talk, go back to collecting bells in Animal Crossing."

*Yawn* Would you like some salsa for that chip on your shoulder? The Vita doesn't have many games I'm personally interested in nor does it have many good ones. Just being real here.

"Everybody doesn't have games except for you folks, lmao."

I have plenty of games. I have a PC and loads of consoles.

Shnazzyone3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

As much as I love this back and forth.

You can't ignore the fact that psx came before the n64 and had more games by n64's release. You also can't ignore that ps2 came out first and the same thing happened.

Also important to note it was an 100% totally different economy then. 90's everyone was doing great. Same for the ps2 vs GC vs xbox gen.

WII/ps3/360 gen showed people prefer cheaper systems. 3ds vs vita reinforced that as still being the case.

In the end, noone is really going to be able to see the differences between wii u and ps4/xbox1 games. Because the graphics will only be capable of being so much better. The improvements will be to number of things on screen and physics engines which most consumers don't understand.

Like it or not when ps4 & xbox 1 come out they WILL have at least a one year drought(All launch consoles do). While wii U is releasing mario kart 8, a new 3d mario, and an hdified version of one of the greatest zelda games ever. The release schedule for wii U seems almost by the book from 3ds's turning point.

If you also take into account wii U will likely see a price drop to 250 before ps4's/xbox1's release. You can't ignore that the actual reality is Nintendo is genuinely a force to be reckoned with this gen and noone should be worried about wii U unless all the stuff I mention isn't working at least 1 year from now.

In conclusion, get over yourself. You got blinders on and you're buying into the same crap said about nintendo for about 15 years now that is ALWAYS proven wrong.

sarcastoid3932d ago

the ds destroyed all consoles this gen. Turns out the ps3 and 360 did just fine.

jairusmonillas3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

It's cheap so it sells. but its nice to see Nintendo's portable doing good cause their console is doing VERY HORRIBLE.

techologie3932d ago

True. The games that have come out recently for the 3DS have been amazing as well. Fire Emblem, Luigis Mansion, Mario & Luigi Dream Team...I mean cmon...straight classics

dark-hollow3932d ago

And because it have a solid library of games.

AWBrawler3932d ago

to everyone saying its cos of price, please explain to me why a $99 Gamecube didn't fly off store shelves the gen before last???? price can only do so much. marketing and games have the biggest impact

BullyMangler3932d ago

its cheap so it sells .

ha ha haaa it hurts you that nintendo has better EVERYTHING over sony huh . better games, better grafiX, funner games, better prices, and the most Adult content ever over any exclusive over sony and micro . . . .

dont be upset, be happy that this is Nintendos land and sony an microsoft are just riding along copy copy copy (:

TwistedMetal3932d ago

yeah it sells because its cheap all the kids parents are like lets see whats the cheapest one and then they get that one for there kids. they cant be spending 500 dollars on the xbox one.

dcj05243932d ago

You telling me that if the 3DS was $250 it would be the top-selling system? No.Price almost always wins. PS1, PS2, Wii, DS, 3DS, and so far, coupd be wrong PS4. Games matter more if the price is close (Wii U $350 PS4 $400).

CaptainSheep3931d ago

Better graphics and more adult content on Nintendo consoles? You mad?

techologie3932d ago

my question is...can the vita have this success if they had a nice price drop?

PSNintyGamer3932d ago

Price drop without games = Short term success

iamnsuperman3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

But it has games. Good ones at that. Contrary to popular belief the Vita library isn't small

SpitFireAce853932d ago

I agree with both of your agrees

dcj05243932d ago

Thank god the PSVITA has alot of games. Them memory cards and console price though.

dark-hollow3932d ago

Vita still lacks the killer apps that will move systems like crazy.

Nintendo have pokemon and Mario, and even one of the biggest psp movers like monster hunter is now exclusive to the 3ds.

Killzone, gravity rush and uncharted are good games, but they don't have the same mass appeal like Nintendo games.

klecser3931d ago

dark-hollow nailed it.

This isn't about uncharted and gravity rush not being good games. Unlike ninty games, they only appeal to a narrow market. And that is Sony's general problem: they target a very narrow market.

Everybody hates on Nintendo, but the truth is that their games appeal to a much wider gamer base than Sony or MS. You can be 5 or 50 and still like the gameplay of many Nintendo games. Plus, they still have the niche games like MegaTen and others that gamers love.

Sony and Microsoft have always catered to one primary demographic: Males 14-25. Its a huge demographic. But when you limit yourself to that demographic, you can't get as strong of results.

3DS was doing horrible when it was $250

Misaka_x_Touma3932d ago

not as horrible as Vita was doing. 3DS only suffered in May-July 2011.

jairusmonillas3932d ago

That was because of $149 pricetag.

klecser3931d ago

Even at 250, the 3DS still shifted more units that the DS during its launch.

Nintendo systems always start slow.

And fans comment on it the same way every time and ignore the data.

The truth is that you seem to want the 3DS to do badly, so you narrow your analysis to the small part of its life that supports your position.

XboxFun3932d ago

But weren't people clapping at the Vita reveal when the price was announced?

What went wrong then...

jairusmonillas3932d ago

When Vita revealed the price, 3DS was still $249.

klecser3931d ago

And they never mentioned how much memory cards were going to cost at that time.

A nice little, "BTW our proprietary memory cards will set you back another 70 bucks."

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H917h ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX11h ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

H98h ago

I didn't do any gymnastics I can assure you, honestly I don't know why you think that, not hating I seriously don't see why you think that

ZeekQuattro6h ago

Yeah I don't know where that came from. It's rare for Nintendo to flat out aquire studios. Guess they were trying to be edgy but why flex on this studio. 🤣

banger8816h ago

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Relientk7713h ago

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos12h ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

In the end wb approved the project cleared the milestones and allowed the product to release

SonOfOsiris8h ago

Yeah this guys ported MK11 which is great, Hogwarts Legacy which is great, and MK1 is now ok, play it every day

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno17d ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
