"There's been ample coverage of Sega's latest potential über franchise but little has been established about the game's infrastructure and overall flow. Seldom have I been so surprised by a review disc. Judging by what I'd seen prior (Sega wisely kept a tight lid on early code), I was expecting a linear action/adventure similar to Beowulf-which done right would certainly be welcome given the universe (they had me at Midgard), but I never dreamt that Viking would offer up an epic more along the lines of Fable... If this one doesn't launch a major franchise, then there's absolutely positively no justice in this world or Valhalla."

"Fable with Vikings meets Kingdom Under Fire, only it's prettier and far better tuned than either."

lol yea like me. I didn't see this coming. Didn't even give this a second look.

they dumbed down the graphics slightly to add a lot more enemies onscreen not to mention how it seemed to completely rip off of god of war you fight off bosses using the qte and some attacks couple that with the fact that the bosses are actually good bosses and that your able to switch around so easily as seen in the gameplay video you could go from one battlefield area to another in no time

also because its about vikings it creates a different time period/look to god of war to merit the feel of a new game even if it does steal from gow it does it right so they gave it a decent score

besides theres tons of blood who doesn't like that?

also its multiplatform so you cant hate on it like a fanboy would if it was an exclusive hint(heavenly sword)

if in the game there were two massive armies running tword each other, swords drawn, and you were somewhere in the crowd....then bam they collide.......it'd be game of the year.

can you say Sleeper Hit? For little to no coverage then to a 9.5 is crazy. Well this beats Dark Sector for me, Viking it is.

I wouldn't call it a sleeper hit just yet. Play Magazine gives every game they review an 8 or higher. I'll wait for more reviews before I make any final decisions about this one and I'd greatly suggest that you all do the same.

Oh crap this is the Creative Assembly game?

I have nothing but the utmost respect for them, due to their creation of the absolutely fantastic Total War series of PC strategy games.

I'll have to check this out then, if the good reviews keep rolling in.

This looks promising. I was hoping this was the little game that could due to it sneaking up on people. CA makes high quality games and I didn't expect them to underperform. Hopefully, other reviews will be on par, but I plan on picking it up.

My feeling about Dark Sector goes the other way. That one started out promising, but looks to be turning into an average game.

Have to see next week how they both turn out.

If it averages around 8's then I will probably pick this one up. Been baiting this awhile, ever since Conan, and Beowulf dropped, those two were kindof dissapointing, Kinda = Conan & Disappointing = Beowulf.

Hopefully this will be the Diamond in the rough.

p.s. Dark Sector was much better as the Space Sci-Fi Stealth thriller

Hell yeah I remember that trailer...

I guess EA struck while the Iron was hot and took that sci-fi space horror theme and ran with it (read: Dead Space) after Dark Sector dropped it.

Planned on picking this up for a while back when I heard about it last year, I've been following it and watching the trailers, looked great to me, I don't know why it got so little hype. Hopefully now that reviews are going to start coming out this game will get the recognition it deserves. I didn't think Creative Assembly would let down and it doesn't look like it's going to. I doubt the game will get a 9.5 on every site but hopefully other reviews will be fairly high, even if they aren't I'm still going to get it.

and plus its made by the people who make the total war series. those games own.
looks a bit like their earlier game - spartan total war.
may have to pick this up.

Look don't get me wrong. I've been looking forward to this and hoping it turns out great, but PLAY is nutorious for their totally off the wall reviews.

There's no way on Earth any gamer worth their salt can take anything they say for legit info. I'll wait 'till other gamers get it and let us know how it trully is on the gaming forums.

Wow, (although the review is from play). This is one of those games I saw the name for, felt mildly interested in but assumed it would be just one of those average games like Dynasty Warriors. My focus was on Dark Sector which had continued to look awesome (even though somewhat disappointing they went away from space scifi). But like an unexpected twist in a movie Dark Sector is now looking like crp and this is looking pretty darn good. Fable one though it dissappointed in not living up to its promises was actually quite a fun game, so if this is like that then I am definitly picking it up.

Now if I can just finish LO, start and finish Condemned, buy and start and finish RB6, I will be good to go (though I guess I should actually try to finish halflife or at least try out portal).

I was kinda hoping this would turn out good, I really like these games with lots of gore and awesome gamplay mechanics!
