Guardian writes: "You rarely come across a game which occupies a genre of its own, but there is no doubt that Patapon is the first ever rhythm-action-RTS. Then again, it was developed by the team behind LocoRoco, so you would expect it to innovate. As with LocoRoco, Patapon is a super-cute, 2D effort with a well-defined visual identity, but gameplay-wise it is much more sophisticated.
The Patapon are a simple warrior tribe, driven from their homeland by the Zigoton, and you act as their God, inspiring them to fight by producing a drumbeat, achieved by jabbing various PSP buttons in time with music. Different riffs generate different actions - initially you just have Advance and Attack, but as the game progresses, you acquire new commands - so the gameplay steadily increases in depth.
Visually and musically, it's utterly endearing, and the game is surprisingly substantial - unlike LocoRoco. Great value, and thoroughly irresistible - a must-have for any PSP owner, young or old."
VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Despite its somewhat anaemic lineup of backwards-compatible titles (unusual in light of the genre’s strong pedigree on Sony consoles), Vita’s selection of rhythm games is highly impressive in the modern market with genre favourites like DJMax, Hatsune Miku and Taiko no Tatsujin all present and plenty of quirky oddities like Deemo, Love Live & Persona thrown in for good measure. You’re definitely going to need to try your hand at importing to get the most of the genre here, but that shouldn’t be an issue thanks to region-free hardware and easy-to-grasp gameplay."
It seems that Sony is slowly working on bringing select classic titles from its classic consoles back on PlayStation 4 as remasters.

I would've preferred Legend of Dragoon instead. Or better yet just for Sony to make PS1 Classics playable on PS4 just like they did with PS2.
Just remastering this game by itself just seems rather weird.
Yeah it does, they get to make more money. Why release classics when they can slap remaster on it, do a little polish, and sell it for $20 instead of sub $10
It would have been slightly better with Um Jammer Lammy too (I know its not the 20th Anniversary of that but still). Parappa was unlockable and was playable in the entire game again but with lyrics now instead of jamming to the tunes with Lammy. Its essentially another Parappa game then. :)
