Karateka Review [Capsule Computers]

Jamie Laike Tsui of Capsule Computers writes:

"Karateka was Jordan Mechner’s video game debut in 1984, programmed in his dorm room for the old Apple II. Since then, Mechner has been busy with the Prince of Persia series and writing graphic novels and screenplays. He has returned to his first game Karateka with a modern rhythm based remake"

LMAO at this review complaining about the game's 3 dollar price. That's less than a meal at mcdonalds.

Oprainfall Review: Karateka

Oprainfall writes: "It’s relatively simple to finish, but brutally difficult to master. Perhaps it’s too brutal. It is for me, at any rate; the occasional forced game of trial-and-error, as well as a difficult blocking system consistently caused me grief at specific points in the game. It’s also very short, but players who enjoy going for high-scores can squeeze much more enjoyment out of it."

Karateka is getting something of a facelift for modern systems, with versions confirmed for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and iOS. Thanks to an ESRB rating, we now know that the game is also destined to appear on the Wii U.

At first I didn't pay attention to this based on the name and the premise of the original game. But, with Jordan Mechner behind it it could turn into something special.
