Call of Duty 4 Xbox 360 feature patch heads to Microsoft for Certification

The new feature patch fourzerotwo talked about last week (with new Kill Cams, Host Migration, and other new features) for the Xbox 360 has finished it's internal testing and development and has officially been sent off to Microsoft for Certification. It's only a matter of Microsoft putting it through the certification paces and it will be available for download for all Xbox 360 players.

Yeah, while CoD4 sold numerous amounts of copies in the millions on the Xbox360, they seem to forget it sold equally as well on the PS3, and yet we're in more of a dire need of a patch then Xbox users, the lag and and inconsistent bullet registry is more than frustrating, it is unplayable at times.

So I'd have to agree, we'll have to wait a few months for them to update us to current speed, I mean look at the hex editing samples from these past few weeks alone, they issued a statement and then a warning about hex editing files, and promptly assured us we'd see a fix, well, we're still waiting.

That might have been me shooting you. That is probably my favorite gun. While its not that powerfull it can spit out bullets like crazy and is pretty accurate even at distances when shot slowly.

I'm skeptical about the 360 view of people while you're dead. When I play, I'm always in private chat with a friend and that can really give advantages to players. I know my friend and I will now have eyes in the back of our heads if the other one dies.

Host migration from what i understand w/o reading the article is game continues when host quits. I hope thats the case. BTW any idea how do you know who the host is? I for one haven't got a clue even being on lvl 38 2nd prestige.

As far as I know their is no way to tell if you aren't the host. I'm like a lvl 50 3rd prestige.

im a 3rd level prestige and i have no idea too. everytime ive heard people knowing who's host is when ive played with a party, pretty sure the party system has something to do with it

In case anyone is curious about who's host in COD 4. The countdown to match will end, the map screen shows up loading. As soon as that is complete (The portion where you choose your class) hit the select button (back button) and you will see this green indicator on the left hand side of ppl's gamertags to show who's connected. The person who does not have the green indicator is host. As well, during this process you can look to the right to see the signal indicator. The person with host should show full bars while the others should have 1 bar in the red as they attempt to connect. Of note, you have to do this pretty quick as it only lasts about 2-3 seconds.

I should have said it a lil more clear. Choose your class quickly and THEN hit the back button. The faster you select your class and then do this will depict very accurately who the host is.

Before, i have been playing. I then wait and it tells me it will stop the game. Why cant it ask me of i want to host games first.

1. Improve the sub-standard lobby system so you can chose which game you join based on settings you specify - especially around connection to host. I hate ending up in games where my connection is 1 red bar!?!

2. Not joining the same game after you have quit for whatever reason. My record is 16 returns to the same game!!!!!

3. Should not count it as a loss if you don't play at least 30 seconds of the game you have joined. This is especially annoying when you join a game that is just ending.

4. More realistic weapons. I hate the way people run around with RPGs as there is no recoil. Or when they use an RPG at point blank range and walk away from the explosion even though you die.

5. Dropping of grenades when you die perk. Get rid of this as its complete crap. Take someone out with a head shot and I doubt very much they will have the ability to whip out a grenade, make it active then drop it.

6. Improve smoke grenades. The smoke screens you could set up in COD2 where 10 times better than the ones you get when throwing smoke grenades in COD4.

7. Ability to jump and shoot. I hate players that exploit the fact that you can jump around corners to avoid being hit but can still take perfect aim. They need to change this so aim is effected when you land.

8. Make sniping harder. The maps are way too small to support snipers and shots should be effected by wind/gravity.

Anyway, just a few things for my wish list.

that happens alot. ALOT. i stopped paying attention to my win/loss record a long time ago because of that. hard to believe they let that flaw get into the retail game.

There needs to be a game mode where these perks aren't on at all! That's why I don't play Team Hardcore; it takes away from the games' 'reality' mode. The might as well have a 'teleportation' perk too.

These perks are for inexperianced players. Hardcore shouldn't have them. It's real when you get shot & killed with one bullet in Hardcore but when you get shot point-blank to the head with a SHOTGUN and Last Man comes out...RIDICULOUS!

headshots will cancel out the last stand, so you aren't shooting them in the head if they last standed you. i play hardcore alot, never use those perks, and do well for myself in avoiding them. look at it like this; since they are predictable perks, you can adapt your play style to make those perks basically worthless and unusable against you, thus making your opponent waste a perk slot and giving you a 1-up on them. i've found that most good players use perks that help you get kills while you're still alive (Deep impact is my favorite for the 3rd slot) and not these dying perks like Martydom, so remember that if your opponent is using these perks, they probably have a weakness that can be easily found

For all the whining about martydom you'd think it was impossible to avoid, when in fact its so easy to spot its not even funny. Don't you hear the loud pinging sound once someone using it goes down? They also give you plenty of time to back away even if you don't notice the sound, and you can still see the grenade indicator. You can call people inexperienced for using it, but you're showing that you're even more inexperienced by actually falling for it. The only excuse for dying from martydom is being caught with someone in a tight space where its all but unavoidable.

Last stand is fine with me though. Unlike the martyrdom it actually takes some skill, and like the other user said, if you get a headshot or get blown up it negates last stand anyway so it is "realistic".

I agree with you that the martrydom and laststand are easy to avoid. Im not tooo bad usualy and I use martrydom because it usualy takes more than one person to kill me, so my chances of killing one of them is good. Martrydom doesnt work in hardcore tho cause you kill your teamates. My favorite perk tho is stopping power.

Bubble for OK computer. It seems like an eternity once you hear the ping of the martyrdom grenade. If you get caught in it then thats your fault. I actually think Martyrdom is pretty cool, same as last stand. Think about it, if you shoot someone in real life in the chest or somewhere not the head, there is always the possibility they could pull out a gun. But I for one don't touch those perks. My perks are always Claymores, Deep Impact (shoot through walls) and (???I'm having a brain freeze) the one that makes your bullets stronger.

Its called stopping power, and those are the ones I use too. Last stand and martry are too situational and doesn't help in two critical areas. Thats staying alive and killing. Where as stopping power and deep impact goes into effect everytime you pull the trigger. If you like LMGs those two are a must, if you like assualt they're also a must.

Im getting more upset with the random disconnects and lag. will there ever be a patch for that. but now they want to add a patch that is just going to screw up the game even more. Dont you hate when you just get comfortable playing with a team and you are winning your games in style and boom you get disconnected. its annoying. should I really buy more downloadable content for this service. I agree on having a separate playlist where perks aren't active, but I don't think they should be removed entirely. I side with okcomputer that relatively competent players can avoid martyrdom, both because of the warning signs or from simply shooting from medium range.

I want to see the carpet bombing kill cams in use sooner rather then later. It could indirectly prevent needless spawn deaths. A quick drop of bombs on a game in shipment means dying twice in a row sometimes as the bombs get you, then you spawn right into the second wave or even third wave of bombs. The kill cam can at least hold you in limbo long enough to avoid this.
