I can too, but I get the point of the article, although kind of lame. It does seem that New Super Mario Bros Wii U is NSMBWii2 upscaled in HD like Pikmin 3 was. I am really excited to see what 3D world Wii U Mario game looks like. To think Galaxy is one of the most beautiful Mario games ever. Now in HD! Woah baby!

If anything this shows exactly why Nintendo picked this art style. The point was that this art style will look good on a HDtv even if it is just a Wii game. I can hardly tell the difference, but that's because of the art style. It's a platformer, how much can it improve?

What I don't get why they charge 60 bucks for it. Similar platformers cost 15 at most so it's a daylight robbery to charge 4x more just for brand.

The question is why Wii U version of Mario characters have so little improvement over Wii. But other than giving the characters more pixels and more detail rendering, that's about all you can do with Mario characters. In other words, if you buy Mario games for Wii U for graphics, then it's a waste. Mario games are for gameplay, not graphics.

In other words, Wii U hardware is way underused if the primary games you play is Mario.

Then again not everyone plays videogames for the same reasons you do. Not everyone is looking to get the best out of the hardware the Wii U provides but rather just enjoy themselves, whether its Mario or ZombiU. The name of the hobby to some is still entertainment. Besides its a GAME not a movie they're primarily meant to be played not JUST watched.

I thought that, being HD, the HUD would be smaller than the non-HD one. I was wrong. I can see a little more detail in the WiiU one, but the colors don't pop as much.

I don't think that Nintendo is going to take advantage of the upgraded hardware. I mean, the WiiU is a lot more powerful than the Wii, but all the gameplay is going to stay the same it seems. The only thing Nintendo is really adding is HD, but not like they should be. It's the equivalent of upscaling Wii games: there's no added details or anything, just a higher resolution and that is not what has been happening.

Maybe that's why so many people don't see the need for improved hardware. They think that the only thing that's upgraded is resolution and graphics, but they don't think about the gameplay, AI, physics, mechanics or detail. All of that can be improved if the developer takes advantage of it, but it looks like the only ones taking advantage of it for the WiiU will be third party developers.

i am disappointed in the visual style of mario wiiu. its that same soulless style in new super mario wii. even rayman legends outdoes mario visually.
