Peter "Durante" Thoman did what From Software wouldn't.Leading up to the release of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for PC, many expected a bare-bones port after comments made from the developer indicated not much effort was going into it.
Players later discovered the PC version had a fixed rendering resolution of 1024x720, but was unlocked on the day of its release thanks to Thoman's mod.
"Online features for the PC version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DX11) have been reactivated.
Online features for the base version of #DarkSouls II for PC (DX9) will be made available at a later date.
Our thanks for your continued patience and support."
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition saw the Souls series debut on PC 10 years ago today, alongside Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 re-releases.
And it was garbage.
Luckily it was easily fixed by a modder who actually wanted a good product to be sold to people.
Dark Souls tweets: "PvP servers for Dark Souls 3, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls: Remastered have been temporarily deactivated to allow the team to investigate recent reports of an issue with online services.
Servers for Dark Souls: PtDE will join them shortly.
We apologize for this inconvenience."
Like every other game? PC is awsome! I like the community!
Shows your focus then...
What a douche-bag company From Software must be. They can't do some simple fixes and a modder can do it quickly. I hope Durante makes some good money off this. I wonder how many copies were pirated because they didn't want to add PC resolutions, then the the mod applied.
