Dark Souls Overhaul Project is a huge texture overhaul pack and is now available for download

Modder ‘SageIchigo’ has released Dark Souls Overhaul Project version 4.5 for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition. According to the modder, this mod changes all the textures in the game with HD versions or re-imaginings of the textures, while still trying to retain the Souls feeling.

"too much effort" - you mean like how modders don't want to make their own games because it's easier to mod someone else work?

Some modders gain recognition through mods so they can create games. Playerunknown modded Arma with a Battle Royale mod and now PUBG became one of the most popular games last year. Counter Strike, Team Fortress and DOTA are other mods that eventually became bigger titles

Still use it as my go to on Steam, but I will never make the mistake of booting it up without mods ever again.

And it was garbage.
Luckily it was easily fixed by a modder who actually wanted a good product to be sold to people.
