Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition saw the Souls series debut on PC 10 years ago today, alongside Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 re-releases.
And it was garbage.
Luckily it was easily fixed by a modder who actually wanted a good product to be sold to people.

PC gamers shouldn't be put off by the performance issues. If it is no worse than the console version, then they'll still find the game very playable.
Blighttown will be painful in places, but I'd suggest they do as the rest of us and just suck it up and plunge onward.
To dismiss a game such as Dark Souls because it's not fully optimised for your ninja PC setup would be to do yourself an injustice.
From has been fairly transparent about their struggle with the PC platform. In accepting to bring this game to PC gamers due to their asking, I feel like a bit of leeway should be granted just for that alone. For those who have yet to play this game, it is one of the best gaming experiences I have had - warts and all. Even though those problems are going to transfer over to the PC, it is not a game I would recommend passing up over these technical limitations and conditions.
If it can even come close to what the console versions have (GFWL pending-Never used it but sounds most horrible), it still has a lot to offer to those who haven't tried it. Granted From has been upfront about having trouble porting this game, I really hope the modding community can help them out in new territory and fix some of these shortcomings. If there is that extra support the end result I would like to see is for From to learn and take on the PC platform in the sequel, with it properly optimized for them from the get go. Still, the amount of complaining, while justified from the PC gaming market conventions, should not be this heavy considering the conditions to which this game is being released. If the community and modders treat it well, I believe it is highly likely the sequel will exceed expectations on a PC platform.
