If you build it, they will come...

stuntman_mike4311d ago

Keep Kevin Costner away from my WiiU.

shackdaddy4311d ago (Edited 4311d ago )

I probably wouldn't have bought BF3 a third time just for screen controls anyway.

Probably a good business decision on EA's part...

Hisiru4311d ago (Edited 4311d ago )

EA would have profit even with 100k sales, so I don't think it's a good decision.

100.000 copies x $30 = 3 million in revenue (Ubisoft is saying WiiU ports costs around 1M) and it would probably sell more than 100k.

mike1up4311d ago

Agreed, EA would have made good money porting BF3 to the WiiU, especially during the holiday season. After hearing about the "lazy" Madden port, however, I think that this is a good move by EA.

If the news were reversed, and they were just now confirming BF3, EA MIGHT have to rush the game to make the launch window. BF4 arriving in 2013, would only make a "rushed" schedule worse and the WiiU might get a bad reputation. Could you imagine buying BF3 for the WiiU, only to have BF4 announced 6 months, or so, later?

In the long, I think that this is the smart move.

RockmanII74311d ago

It's a good move, you're not thinking about all the potential BF4 WiiU sales that would have been lost because the person just bought BF3 the year before. It's safe to assume anyone who would have bought BF3 a year after its release for WiiU would be willing to buy BF4 the year it releases for WiiU.

dcbronco4311d ago

They would have spent half that or more on marketing. Taxes would have eaten the other half.

doctorstrange4311d ago

Why'd you buy it the second time?

shackdaddy4311d ago

Well, my GPU and HDD somehow broke at the same time right before the game released so I just bought it for my Xbox until I got everything fixed...

dcbronco4311d ago

Shackdaddy

Either someone believes you're lying about your computer breaking or your girlfriend is upset with you.

Not sure how you got a disagree on that.

DeadlyFire4311d ago

I bought it on PS3 and PC to compare and by far PC version destroys it all across the board, but its still fun on both systems. Even though the PC version feels like it wasn't fully fleshed out the way it should have been. I hope DICE makes everything right in Battlefield 4.

greenpowerz4311d ago

I don't think any BF game would work with screen controls. It's the most stupid idea for this genre I have ever seen. Of course 3rd party games are not always going to use one of the biggest gimmicks in the history of gaming.

I wish I could express my opinion on the tablet controller better because I sound like a rabid scared anti nintendo fanboy. But in reality I'm insulted by this cheap move to keep consumers from buying kinect and future kinects.
The no rumble PR and inaction followed by the sixaxis save face ploy(gimmick) was even less offensive.

yabhero4311d ago

You ARE a anti-Nintendo fanboy...
Do I need to show every one the links. You say this WiiUPad idea is stupid on SEVERAL articles...
but then you praise SmartGlass ... REALLY?

TekoIie4311d ago

"I don't think any BF game would work with screen controls".

So dont use 'em! Why are you so against the touchpad? BF games could use the touch pad for a tac com, mini Map and switching position in vehicles.

Some games can make the pad a requirement for gameplay while others can use it for convenience.

DeadlyFire4311d ago

Well if you think about it a proper BF 3 port would probably take until Mid 2013 to release anyway. If Battlefield 4 is launching in Fall 2013.

I tip my hat to EA games for providing the millions of Nintendo Elite Supporters another AAA quality experience to go along with the already loaded arsenal of godlike gaming experiences. Day one purchase for me and likely many others on the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system.

Hopefully EA blesses us with us with new innovations with the superior tablet control functions. Functions that come as standard with each and every platform sold to the consumer. Likely giving the player complete battlefield control over kaotic situations at all times. Things are looking mighty positive for Nintendo supporters.

Have a blessed day and happy gaming.

Stop trolling its getting annoying.

mike1up4311d ago (Edited 4311d ago )

I bet if you commented on what you had for breakfast these fools would cry Troll.

You should start charging money for the "stop trolling bandwagon".

FYI:

I think that I understand now, and feel badly for asking you to post more.

It just shows that I have a new best friend.

I also hope to see him as well take advantage of the new control functions of the Nintendo Wii U entertainment systems unique new interface.

He can say what he wishes about me. As long as he has an amazing experience with the Nintendo version of Battlefield 4 online.

"Nintendo Elite Supporters "

By that you mean 5 to 14 years old kids?

PopRocks3594311d ago

Or anyone who happens to like Nintendo, which believe it or not can range to an age above 14. This must come as a real shock to you.

Puddlejumper754311d ago

Whats funny is the person that usually says that falls into that age bracket themselves.

Who would God of Wars quick time sex scenes appeal to? An adult who can actually get some or a teenager who cant but dreams of it?

Dark114311d ago

@PopRocks359

sure some of the Nintendo Supporters are adults
but most of them are kids and you can't deny that!

mike1up4311d ago (Edited 4311d ago )

I'm 30, but I wish that I was 14.

...Not really, but at least I could be 21 again.

By your comment, I am guessing that you have yet to finish high school. Hopefully your prejudice is just a phase.

Anyways, enjoy your youth while you have it.

Bonerrr4311d ago

I thought all kiddies bought into Nintendo? at least that was the case with the Wii.....

RockmanII74311d ago

Pretty much everyone bought a Wii, it's just that for the most part all the go to games weren't on it so a vast majority of people who could afford multiple consoles used their PS3 and/or Xbox instead while others who were locked with one system (5-14 age range would make sense, too young to get a job and in turn get money for more systems) had no choice to stick with it. Nintendo games themselves are made so 4 year olds and 40 year olds can enjoy them, on face value they may look like games for little kids but the more you live the more you learn not to take things for face value.

LX-General i agree with you on somethings but you are creepy in the way you praise nintendo. All your comments are so alike. There is know way you agree with everything that comes nintendos way.

LOL_WUT4311d ago

Funny how LX-General wasn't around when Nintendo had that boring E3 conference he was nowhere to be seen.

But back on topic this is definitely some good news to hear, lets just hope EA puts a lot of effort and doesn't just port it to make a quick buck.

PC is where it is at but if they use the controller and nintendo network in some interesting ways I might also buy this version as well.

If this is even true that is...

CarlosX3604311d ago

Would've made a nice launch title for Wii U. Bummer.

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

Hofstaderman9d ago

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Makersbreath29d ago

EA coming back for the crown of being perceived as the worst company in gaming.

Chocoburger8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga14d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole12d ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville12d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

ravens5215d ago

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_14d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville12d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM14d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka14d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_14d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.

Well, anything to make those shareholders happy, I guess. They're all that matters in this industry nowadays.

EA stocks haven't been profitable in over 5yrs. They better hope Take-two don't get the FIFA license lol.
