DHGF: Welcome back to another edition of Kickstart My Heart, Diehard’s Gamefan’s weekly look at crowdfunding in the gaming (both video game and tabletop) industry. In this week’s column, we’ll look at projects I’m currently backing, ten campaigns you, our readers, might want to back yourselves, and reasons why it’s okay to pull your pledges and when you should do so.
Joanna Mueller writes: "It's always a red flag when a project switches hands in the middle of development. However, backers had little available recourse and mostly just settled in for the ride. When the game finally came to Steam Early Access in 2015 things seemed to be getting back on track, but Stealth’s lack of clear communication lead to more problems after they made the jump to official release."
The Zombie Playground OST features a rather startling omission. The involvement of hip hop artist, Aesop Rock promised in the Kickstarter campaign.
Rely on Horror, CJ Melendez writes: "Some of you might be like me and enjoy your fair share of grim and serious zombie fiction, where there’s some gritty drama between rival human groups, loads of extreme violence, and lots of gore. But other times you might want to look at some bright colors and feel a bit more upbeat, right. Cartoons were fun, remember? There’s no reason for us to be so mature all the time! And zombie fiction can do with a little levity now and then. Enter Zombie Playground, a whimsical little Steam title where kids battle zombies. That’s the premise – and it’s a simple yet effective one."
I do always wonder how much of a cross over there is between tabletop gaming and video gamers.
