Amazing Video that will make you appreciate the NES

Everyone remembers the NES, similar to the original Macintosh. It was a straight up classic, with many great games such as Metroid, Mario, and Zelda. Had a great controller and a cool zapper gun. However, do you realize how important the NES actually was?

agreed. but lately... nintendo has been lacking

All giants must fall.
It's how the game business seems to work sadly. Everything great in gaming really has only lasted a few generation, including developers. I guess after a while their vision just fades.

KEYWORD: Lately. was i the only one who saw their e3 conference/booth? trust me, THEY ARE LACKING. The Wii might be my last Nintendo system ever. They wont sucker me in to getting the WiiU with a Zelda or Smash Bros game this time, they've done that to me for 2 generations already, lesson learned.

Man this video made me crank up homebrew earlier today. I had a flashback, but man how mighty has fallen off. Sure they are still selling a ton but, I would love to play an updated hd Mario. imo the galaxy Mario's have been so out of touch, seems like they were made for 8 year olds no harm in that at all, but damn.

I got blasted in my blog by a few people just because I basically said that Nintendo never forgot the hardcore. All because the devs aren't there doesn't mean that at heart Nintendo itself totally abandoned the hardcore. Is it packed with games? Yes and no; Nintendo is taking the brunt of the development for the Wii, so in order to survive and thrive the games in general have shifted to a more casual tone, but at the core those games have not lost a jot of ability; not games like Metroid and some of the Marios, Skyward Sword is a great game. I wish devs for other consoles would pick up a Wii so they can get ideas on how to use motion controls in games if they plan to develop for it.

Appreciate the NES? No it would make you appreciate gaming.

Which was saved by the NES. That was the point of this video.

Come on lads and lasses. Show your respect and let's see how many will salute the NES for saving that which we hold so dear.

eagle214349d ago (Edited 4349d ago )

Long live video games! And I'm proud to say I helped NES bring gaming to phenomenal levels. 80's gamers FTW!

Fantastic video i'll keep bookmarked. :)

Yep man, NES made my christmas man. My very first console. What a gift!

AWBrawler4349d ago

my first console was an NES

CYCLEGAMER4348d ago

I second that, my fist console was a Atari, though I was to young to understand how to play or what was going on, the Nintendo was my first love (in gaming).

Honestly I really changed my mind on Fi with the remaster because they didn't make her interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds, that drastically changed my views on her

Inverno99d ago

Technically she's in ToTK but obviously can't take any other form than the sword she was made into. Also the companion feature has been done plenty of times in Zelda, I don't think it'll add anything new. If anything should be brought back it should be the Minish.

Directionless Modern Zelda Should Return to its 3D Roots

Matt from We Game Daily writes "The Legend of Zelda series has gone in a different direction. One which, try as I have, I just can’t get on board with. Here is why I think Zelda should return to its 3D roots."

Amen! A good, tight, Zelda game with a focus on dungeons and puzzles. Let people have the new style Zelda if you gotta, but let us have the OoT style games too. That's not without precedent either, the handheld 2D Zelda's in the style of A Link to the Past etc have coexisted alongside the 3D Zelda's before

FinalFantasyFanatic130d ago

As much as I like BoTW, TotK, I need my traditional Zelda games as well, I could not endlessly play the open world Zelda games, plus it's harder to keep those fresher than the traditional games.

Eidolon129d ago (Edited 129d ago )

BotW was just as fresh to the franchise as OoT was. TokT was great but the next LoZ would have to move from that formula to be fresh again. There's only so much they can do with the hardware. I think they focused too much on making the world big instead impactful. I felt the world was sort of empty and repetitive in TotK, sure there was a lot to do but no more difference a Ubisoft game..

anast129d ago

I wouldn't worry too much. Nintendo knows what they are doing.

Ristul129d ago

Wind Waker had a perfect balance of open world and a cool, well hand-crafted design. Maybe try to keep the open world but put in effort to make more memorable story driven quests and locations.

I like it would also be cool if some created Dragon Caesar in the game I would love to watch the two going at it.
