im sure most people can max it at 60 fps at 1080p

Megaton4349d ago

Dunno. It's a port. Devs were asked about some apparently infamous place in the console version where the frames crawl, and whether or not it runs smoothly on the PC. They kinda tried to avoided the topic. Think they said "we hope so" or something equally vague.

fossilfern4349d ago

Yeah I read that but I dont think it would be locked at 720p that would be stupid it must been a translation error and he was talking about the texture resolution. But if it is just 720p it will be a real shame but im sure modders will work it out

anonym4349d ago

What fossilfern said. That was from a very poorly translated Japanese article, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Anyone with a 'gaming PC' from 2006 and up should be. But the Res 1080p is just gonna be upscaled like it is on Consoles. The devs made it clear they weren't doing actual High Res textures or anything. I think it may be locked at 30FPS too(not sure). This game will still be native 720p and unchangable like most PC games. It's a true port, not an upgrade or anything...besides the extra content

Unless they changed their minds like they did with GFWL, well then...2006 G-PC's will max it easy.

Yeah Erudito, it should be. But at least we got it to go to steam. Hopefully they attempt to make better textures and allow for more FPS. At the very least, you won't get framerate drops where the console does get them. Which was quite annoying to be honest. I say, just take the game for what it is. it's one of the best games this gen. And although I was planning on getting it again on PC it seems there is no real point anymore because it's just the same as the console one. If you haven't played it yet though, PC should be the best version since their will be no framerate drops.

8800GT is grand too though. It just means 2006 + up will own it.

this is all very startling news

DarkBlood4349d ago

good to know my pc can handle this them, bea while before i buy a gaming pc from futureshop anyways

reznik_zerosum4349d ago

30 fps lock make game lag very hard if u dont have hardware to support 30fps

AuToFiRE4349d ago

@DarkBlood

One does not simply walk into futureshop to buy a gaming pc

DarkBlood4349d ago (Edited 4349d ago )

AuToFiRE

"One does not simply walk into futureshop to buy a gaming pc"

Lol, that made me chuckle pretty good.

One does not simply walk into Mordor!

is that a joke ???

They decided to lock the game at 30 fps and force players to buy a game controller.

slayorofgods4348d ago (Edited 4348d ago )

1. Dark Souls is not a game to be bought for the best graphics, it's about game play

2. There are so many games out on pc that really need a controller, ever try to play Dead space or Batman on a pc without a controller? You can also use either a 360 or PS3 controller, nothing is more flexible with how you game then a pc.

3. Most importantly, we are finally getting games like Dark Souls on a pc. It will be a very nice fit and I look forward to more releases on pc in the future.

mep694342d ago (Edited 4342d ago )

LOL @ people that use a game pad on pc

And Ye I played barman and dead space fine with a keyboard and mouse thanks

Uncharted2Vet4349d ago

So almost any pc from like 2008 and up can max it out.

Good because it will be accessible to more people, but it also means it just a simple port.

fossilfern4349d ago

If its true about this locked at 720p and 30fps etc They should really get some help from AMD or Nvidia to make this a better PC game!

NYC_Gamer4349d ago

My PC will handle DS with no problems

Scarfy4349d ago

It would seem that Namco Bandai would rather spend the minimum they can on the port, since they know it will likely be pirated to death. The PC version is likely just a compile of the Xbox 360 version, with various tweaks thrown in, which is why it is 720p at 30fps.

That's also likely why the consoles are now getting the PC's additional content as DLC this winter, so that the company can make the money back.

kevnb4349d ago (Edited 4349d ago )

The trolling is strong in this one. Sounds like someone is really upset there's a better version of this game coming out. Even if the suspect translation is correct, its significantly less than 720p on console and not consistent in framerate especially in blight town.

Scarfy4348d ago

Not trolling, mate, just stating a fact. Devs get better returns on consoles than on PC these days, due to the vast amount of piracy.

The simple fact is that the console versions pull in my revenue. The lead platform for Battlefield 3 was the PC, yet the consoles versions outsold it. Fact.

The same is true of a number of other console / PC games.

It's simply not worth the investment, which is why a recompile and straight port makes more financial sense. But if you really, really want some proof, then what you should do is start a company to bring console games to PC, with all the bells and whistles on that you want (high res textures, 60fps+, enhanced sound, mod support, etc.), and sans any form of DRM.

You will be bankrupt within a month of the first release. Sorry, but this is simply the world we live in.

Scarfy4348d ago

oh, and if Diablo 3 was ported to the consoles it would have offline mode from day one.

Da_Evil_Monkey4349d ago

The fact that they spent the minimum on a straight port is going to cause more piracy than investing the effort to make a good port. Sure you get people who would pirate anyway, but I guarantee people who would have bought it are going to pirate it instead because it's a shoddy port that uses GFWL. Afterwards the devs will blame piracy for poor sales, despite it being their fault for releasing a shoddy product.

yewles14349d ago

That's what they want apparently, proof that PC gamers are volatile...

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition - Souls Debuted on PC 10 Years Ago

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition saw the Souls series debut on PC 10 years ago today, alongside Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 re-releases.

ocelot07612d ago

Yer and it was awful (the port not the game).

luckytrouble612d ago

Still use it as my go to on Steam, but I will never make the mistake of booting it up without mods ever again.

MadLad611d ago (Edited 611d ago )

And it was garbage.
Luckily it was easily fixed by a modder who actually wanted a good product to be sold to people.
