Surprised Eve Online wasn't mentioned

TekoIie4373d ago

Same here. Me and my mates did a smuggling run and it took us 6 hours (but worth it :D) and I don't think we got any further than 1/20th across the galaxy :/

ATi_Elite4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

I KNOW Eve Online is the biggest Game world for SURE!! Plus it keeps expanding just like Real Space does!

Arma II and Fuel should be on that list as well.

San Andreas is bigger than GTAIV!

STALKER Call Of Priyat is pretty dam Big too!

Microsoft Flight! Any Train Simulator, Any Truck Simulator, any Naval Simulator, The Space Shuttle Simulator is the entire got dam planet cause you can streak across the entire planet earth during re-entry plus Space!

I can keep going but the list is a total failure.

Solid_Snake374372d ago

Didn't elders scroll have a huge world? I heard it was the size of GB.

RedDead4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

Yeah this is the worst big world list ever. Daggerfall's map is multiple(hundreds) times bigger than the newer 3

DasTier4372d ago

@Solid_Snake37 yeah i think Elder Scrolls 2: Dagerfall had something like 15,000 towns. Also Wikipedia tells me it had upwards of 750,000 NPC's and the world size was over 487,000 sq km (twice the size of great Britain)

Solid_Snake374372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

Sorry guys I meant Elders Scrolls II: Daggerfall.

Keyboard, you have failed me....

pixelsword4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

bad list; several games should have been on there like Crysis, Civilization, Lair, and what's that other game, Just Cause?

MetalGearMetroid4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

Have you played San Andreas recently? I can understand someone remembering it being bigger but it is not bigger than 4's city, not even close.

GTA:SA 13 square miles

GTA4 17 square miles

Gamer19824372d ago

Silly this really as theres over 100 MMOS all with HUGE worlds bigger than these. They should have stuck with consoles or changed to AA titles only or something

cannon88004372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

I really don't like this list for the lack of research on games. If this was suppose to be in order, it also failed. Look at this nice picture and you'll notice a few things. (I know that world of Warcraft map has since been extended but is still not as big as just cause 2's map. Also I believe that daggerfall has the largest map that you can actually "walk on" no just "empty space"

http://unrealitymag.com/wp-...

Just Cause 2 is 400 square miles

Asheron's Call is 500 square miles

Test Drive Unlimited is 618 square miles

Codemaster's FUEL is 5560 square miles!

Guildwars Nightfall is 15,000 square miles!

Lord of the Rings Online is freaking 30,000 square miles!

The Elder Scrools 2: Daggerfall is freaking 62,394 square miles!!!!!

I know that EVE Online would probably rape all of these games in sheer size, but I don't like to categorize it with the other games because EVE Online is space and not land where you can walk on and also there are textures and 3d objects instead of empty space with objects spread out. I'm not saying anything bad about EVE, but I just categorize it differently. But I guess we're just talking about size after all and nothing specific so then yes, EVE rapes everything.

STONEY44372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

I don't think Burnout Paradise is actually thay big, unless having cars made it feel significantly smaller. You can drive from one side of the island to the other in about 5 minutes. I can't even do that in San Andreas, which according to that map, is significantly smaller.

One of my problems with Burnout Paraside was that the world felt too small and you're constantly racing in the same areas.

Pandamobile4372d ago

Meanwhile, Minecracft's world is the size of Neptune.

SnotyTheRocket4372d ago

Final Fantasy XI?.... Anyone?

overlorduk4372d ago

It specifically says in the article that they did not include space sims because they are mostly filled with empty space.

Guy just drove massive traffic to 20 pages of "content".

That's SEO for you.

TopDudeMan4373d ago

alright, minecraft is the biggest, but they're totally random, so does it really count?

I think just cause 2 should be much higher up the list, as it no other game gives you that feel of massiveness. It blows everything out of the water easily in terms off sheer size.

Y_51504373d ago

I expected little big planet to be mentioned.

TheModernKamikaze4373d ago

Not really world, more like levels.

Y_51504373d ago

Ok fine! I just thought that LittleBigPlanet was a world with endless possibilities. But in reality it's more like a place with an endless supply of levels.

humbleopinion4373d ago

This list is pretty much a fail. Fuel and Daggerfall not on the list !? GTA IV But no San Andreas!? They didn't even do some basic homework:

Aloren4373d ago (Edited 4373d ago )

FUEL would dwarf all the others on that chart. Impressive.

On a side note, Burnout Paradise didn't feel like it was half the size of just cause 2 of 15 times bigger than San Andreas.

jamesgtaiv4373d ago

Thanks for the posting that. I'm also surprised Test Drive Unlimited 2 and ARMA II weren't mentioned. Crappy article.

Laxman4373d ago

No Daggerfall, really? The game is literally about the size of England. Morrowind is in there, and Bethesda have claimed Morrowind is 0.01% the size of Daggerfall.
